Made a quick stop here to Ulta Beauty, was greeted by a young man (may've been the company's) Top Flight Security as well. He was friendly, offering to help and just all around acting like he really liked being at work. Which is very nice to me. Once I couldn't figure out How the new Eyebrow blade, and shaping pencil worked. I walked up to the young man and he assisted me (the tester was empty) for starters, this could've been Why I didn't know How the heck to use it lmao. I was very intrigued by this new concept of How the beauty developers are constantly working to create more efficient products and the prices are also increasing as well lol. However I don't mind paying for innovative products and designs. After getting the assistance from the young gent. I walked to the front to check out. I waited a few minutes before I was welcomed by Jess. We spoke to one another then she asked, Would you like our FREE Mascara? I was like sure I Love anything that's FREE. Jess then hit me with the, All you have to do is apply for our Ulta Beauty Credit Card. My smile went from showing ALL my teeth (not sure if my three wisdom teeth) were noticeable but y'allget my drift? Lol...she definitely had me baited, reeled, and tackled (anyone knows about fishing) this is how I was Smdh. Until the running of the credit part was introduced I was leery now cause I'm working on revamping my credit after my divorce and I've been right out paying for things that I want or desire. I inquired if this was a Hard or Soft pull. Jess either didn't hear me or understand what I was asking cause she started telling me about something else lol. They always have a great selection, it's clean, organized, and there are people there from the different brands that are friendly, knowledgeable and ready to help find things for you. I use many different brands depending on the product so it is nice to have some assistance. Plus, when you go in you find items you didn't know you needed. lol The girl from Clinique helped me find my shade in the cc cream, helped me find a water proof mascara I like from Lancôme, and then found the brow pencil I use by Anastasia. I should have took a selfie with her so I could remember her name. She was tall, young blonde and her makeup was on point. My family also sees her and agree she is fabulous. She is an excellent collaborator in terms of helping me figure out how to approach my hair color, and her skills are superb. I always leave feeling much better than when I come in. If you come to this Ulta for any reason, come to get your hair done by Andrea! In terms of the store, I only have positive things to note. Christian is extremely concise and helpful and helped recommend me a product for sensitive skin, making sure to give both luxury and budget friendly options. Staff kept a busy store and long line moving with smiles on their faces (which can be challenging, so I appreciate it all the more). It also doesn't hurt that this store is bigger, more organized, and carries a much larger range of brands than my local Ulta in LA. If you're a brown girl, I'd only recommend going to this Ulta if you already know exactly what you need and don't mind dealing with microaggressions. Before we even went in, my friend warned me that she had been profiled here before. I took her for her birthday since it was close to the mall we were visiting. There were at least 12 employees inside, and not one person greeted us or offered help as we wandered around. When we walked in, there were about seven girls at the front who just stared at us. Later, we got confused about where the checkout line started, and the two girls at the counter just looked at us while we were obviously trying to figure it out. The cashier didn't acknowledge us until another customer told us we could go ahead. She didn't look up once while checking us out or while making an account. If you want to feel seen and valued, especially as a Black woman, I'd suggest going elsewhere. But if you already know what you need and don't mind being ignored, then maybe this location will work for you. Honestly, it was disappointing. read more

ear Ulta Guest Services, I am writing to formally report repeated unprofessional and disrespectful behavior by the co-manager, Marissa, at your Henderson, NV (Stephanie Street) store. During my most recent visit, despite spending several hundred dollars, I was treated rudely and made to feel unwelcome. I have also witnessed her speaking to other customers and even her own staff in a condescending, downgrading, and at times abusive manner. This is not an isolated incident--I have observed this behavior over multiple visits spanning several years. On this occasion, I felt judged based on my casual attire and lack of makeup on my day off. No customer should be treated differently because of their appearance. This conduct is unprofessional, discriminatory, and damaging to Ulta's reputation. As a long-time customer who regularly purchases high-end skincare and cosmetics, I am deeply disappointed. In reading reviews, I agree this store for whatever reason has the WORST cust svc. The only 2 mgrs who are decent & answers questions if you can find them are Claudia/Amanda. I had a make-up lesson withMorgan; arrived 10-mins early & was told she's running late as she's stuck in traffic. She showed up 10-mins late; no apology was given. I didn't make a big deal as I still wanted her assistance but hoped I'd get the full amt of time as this appt was purposely booked for an hour by the beauty bar assoc; if this was going to be the case I would of stuck to 30-mins but in the end, glad it was an hour. In making sure I was getting my full money's worth as anybody would at $60/hr is a bit steep. The appt ended at 12:55pm. Morgan kept talking about family, hugged me & then realized she still hadn't given me my ticket so, she stopped the clock at 12:57pm- lost 15-mins- ugh (10-mins late w/an apology & stopped 5-mins b4 1:00pm so I lost 15-mins total) & I still had to pay for it; duly noted. Mgrs keep a revolving door of customers- in & out, customers come in for their svc & leave just as fast. Mgrs keep stylists/make-up artists on a tight schedule- they don't have a lot of client interaction; they have to keep up clientele but they can't have clientele conversation as they're told to go go go. It's really about pushing product, getting you in fast & getting you out just as fast & moving onto the next. But when you're paying for a service you expect the full hr & not any less. In dealing with store associates, I've found it very helpful to do your research prior to entering (as other reviewers have said) because too much research in store ie compare products, check ingredients, etc you don't get help; instead they avoid you like the plague. At register: Why didn't I receive the full hr & explained my case. The checkout girl called over a mgr as she seemed perplexed. I know for a fact people who've booked appts in the past haven't received their full time just read reviews since the store has opened & recently 1 cust came back 4 times for they didn't have black hair dye, but they're a full svc salon? So, I know that these situations happen. The beauty bar mgr (minority, very tall, always wears a black suit jacket, has glasses & long braids pulled back). As she approached the counter, so did another mgr (short, all in black, very dark short straight/curly hair; glasses?) telling the taller mgr she's going on break. As I was explaining my case to the beauty bar mgr, I asked in a calm voice what "could" be done nothing more. The shorter mgr interjected herself & took over (she was nowhere around the beauty bar so not really sure how she knows when Morgan arrived and/or stopped). At that time, it was the very tall minority lady & Amanda thats it. The shorter manager says, it wasn't 10-minutes it was 5 with an attitude. Note: I've dealt w/her in the past & it wasn't pleasant then or now; she always has a chip on her shoulder, is very unprofessional & doesn't explain policies. She tells me I will give you the $10 discount with attitude. I said, I'm trying to figure out what you can do for 15-mins missed but instead of explaining she assumes & makes her own judgement call. Typical! And, with the discount you can NEVER have svcs at Ulta again- since living here for quite awhile this has NEVER been policy so why now? As what's happened in the past with a friend & other reviews, I'm fine with that but didn't want to start an argument with her as I had to be professional when she couldn't. Things get dicey...she says, you're never happy; every time you come in you find fault with something. I've been coming here for quite awhile & this has NEVER been said to me; guess she was having a bad day but don't take it out on a customer- leave your attitude at home. I said, if you're going to hire cust svc individuals you should make sure they have those skillsets first besides being able to carrying on a conversation with another employee as that really doesn't count or doing the right thing and put the customer first. And two, Morgan agreed that it's an exhausting process to find new hair products/make-up so there's always going to be a lot of returns b4 you find what works & everyone is different. Lastly three, she said, you never seem happy. I said, lots of things make me happy ie stores that treat customers as they should be treated, mgrs who know how to carry themselves in ways that set a good image for the store as a whole, but I'm not someone who's going to sit back & say nothing; not sure she would either. I said you have to take the good with the bad & vice versa otherwise you don't know what areas to fix. IF you can't do that then perhaps this isn't the line of work for you. She gave me my receipt. I signed it and said, thank you and I left. There are other stores that sell the same products as Ulta and after this I'd rather shop there. I got my hair done by Lauren. I have thick curly hair so I was nervous. She however did a fantastic job, I got my hair washed and blown out. She blew it out so straight I was able to wear it and not need to get it silk pressed. I left feeling very confident and happy. Bonus points she made sure to use materials and products specifically for curly hair and she made sure to be gentle with my hair so I didn't have any pain or discomfort (which can often be the case with having someone else do my hair). Lauren's service far exceeded my hopes and it was 5+ stars. I only took of a star because Ulta's appointment system isn't good. I made one online that was randomly cancelled. After I first made it I called to confirm the service I needed. The day of I called because my link said no appointment. As the serial number was legible and the pin# still hidden under silver, I assumed the card was still usable, but definitely not suitable for a gift. This afternoon, (12/21 between 3:30-4:00 pm) I went back to the store with my receipt, which reflected the matching serial number, hoping to discuss swap-out options. The cashier was stumped (don't blame her; it was a weird ask, and she was very gracious) and called for manager consult. Manager arrived with MASSIVE attitude. I ask her what the policy is for exchanging damaged goods. "There isn't one." I tell her I have proof the card hasn't been used. "Can we just cancel it and get a new one?" "You can't buy a gift card with a gift card." "That's not what I..." And that's when she started talking over me, telling me, "It's not going to happen," and walked away. I understand that retail is especially challenging during the holidays, but there was no excuse for her behavior. It is unfathomable that you allow this person to be an ambassador for your "No room for hate here" branding. Knowing there had to be a fix for this, I stopped by your Lake Mead location, and what do you know? Been to the salon twice. Andrea cut my scalp with her nail and drew blood, after having it snag in my hair & saying she needed a new manicure, but still chose to scrub my scalp. She grabbed a paper towel to dab at it and tossed the paper towel on her counter. The cut was great, but scalp scratch not so much. 2nd time Cassie said she would cut off a couple inches but cut off 5 and left some uneven bits. My hair went from midway down my back to a quarter of the way. That's way more than 2 inches. I'm devastated. It's going to take 10 months to grow that back. Cut is nice but too short & she didn't pay attention to detail like Andrea did constantly pulling hair up to make sure it was good. I popped in here to Yelp just to see if The Salon had good reviews and I was shocked to see all of the terrible reviews centered around customer service. Leaving this review here as well in hopes the situation is handled and your team is better equipped to actively serve customers, rather than witness/gossip about drama I came into the store around 5:30 today and a customer was visibly upset at the register. The manager on shift had already began handling the issue and deescalating the situation. While this was happening the other employees on shift proceeded to watch and not help any other customers. I walked past several throughout the store and throughout the interaction and not a single person offered me any help or direction or acknowledged my presence in the store. Once the disgruntled customer had left, several employees moved to the front register to gossip about the interaction and those who did not join them upfront gossiped in their respective sections about the customer. I had hoped with the customer leaving they would be more willing to help and focus on other customers but the things they said about this person they know nothing about are disgusting and very inappropriate. And as some one who's shopped here for about the last 10 years, I'm so disappointed, I left empty handed and will not be back. And will be bringing my business elsewhere. No one should be treated how your employees treated this woman, as someone who works in customer service there will always be people who upset you, it's part of the job. I went in asking an associate with red/orange hair for help with a concealer she was very rude and seemed visibly annoyed that I interrupted a conversation with her co worker for a stock check. Every single shade of the Dior concealer was out on the shelf but the shade I wanted so when she got it for me she told me she would leave it at the front instead of handing it to me which was weird because why does that need to be left at the front when every other shade is on the shelf. If it was not meant to be grabbed by customers take all the shades off the display if the color I wanted was not allowed to be touched by me. Finally home I opened my products and it was not even the item I wanted she gave me a stick concealer vs the liquid one which is such a inconvenience for me because I don't live in the area. She saw it said the same shade and just left it up there without letting me look to see if it was even what I asked for. I have been a customer for many years now and I am so disappointed with the management and employees. They are so rude and the lack of professionalism is more than evident. My disabled mother and my Down syndrome sister had appointments we made in the store mid December for last weekend but rescheduled for this weekend, they cancelled yesterday's and rescheduled for today just find out when we arrived at the store that they cancelled again even after I confirmed yesterday at 2:53pm. (I have the records ) The General Manager would not talk to me instead she asked the salon manager to handle the issue and the rudeness and disregard for my mother , sister and myself by the salon manager was beyond words. After refusing service several times, I asked about an item I may have been interested in just to get the person off my back so I could shop. Seems like they need better training because they were unfamiliar with the product they were recommending. Having worked at Ulta myself, it was so blatantly obvious the person was sent to watch me. It's also very apparent that staff are no longer afforded the luxury of learning about the products so, they're blindly recommending things they've never used. After not answering my question, they walked off mid-question because they became preoccupied with something across the store. One can be brief bordering rude but, never dismissive. That's insane that they're not only condoning the behavior but, promoting it as a culture within the store. I have the following criticism for corporate: don't reissue already used coupons. This can be the Candyland for make up enthusiasts. The store is very well lighted and displays of makeup by brand line the store. There is a good assortment of brands ranging from your popular drug store brand like Maybelline to Urban Decay. If you know makeup, you would know that there are hits and misses from $10 brands to $100 brands. It's a mix and match industry, so don't be quick to judge on household names. The workers there, especially the make up artists, are super helpful and are very knowledgeable. There are two guys that work there and are both are professional and engaging. One of them gave me a quick makeover when I was looking for a full coverage powder foundation and I loved it. He also gave me very helpful techniques on eyeshadow application and which brushes to use to achieve the look. No high pressure selling or uptight attitudes here-just honest, experience based advice, and pretty make up to try on! There is also a selection of perfumes from Gucci to Philosophy. Prices are comparable to department stores though. In the back of the store is skin care product from (my favorite) Dermalogica to Neutrogena.
