My one piece of bitchery is due to the lack of parking; I have a car that I need to keep an eye on and I had to park far away which kept me a bit uncomfortable. The decor is superfunky and I felt like I had time warped back to the 80's when I'd shop in Orange County thrift stores near the Orange Circle. Cool as hell vibe and loved all the stickers and patches of the bands I grew up with at the check out counter. A great variety of vintage clothes from many decades and cool used & inexpensive broken in jeans. The Mork & Mindy lamp stopped me in my tracks - I had to ask the owner about it (Jen) who admitted to making it herself. It looked like something that would be in Pee Wee Herman's house - yes it was that kooky-chic! Jen is a diamond and loves to help you find whatever you're looking for. These items are donated 100% free of charge, yet many are priced as if they're brand new--or even more expensive than buying them new on sale at a retail store. The whole purpose of a thrift store is to make secondhand items affordable while supporting the community. Instead, it feels like someone with no understanding of value is pricing these donations based on wishful thinking rather than reality. I've seen chipped home décor, worn clothing, used kitchen items, and damaged furniture with price tags that made me laugh out loud. At these prices, I'd rather spend a few dollars more and buy something brand new with a warranty and the ability to return it. Goodwill has forgotten what made people love thrift stores in the first place. Until pricing becomes reasonable again, I'll gladly take my business to local thrift stores where donated items are actually priced like donated items.

And then I entered PSBS. And that, my friends, is where the novela began. I was browsing, looking at merchandise, minding my own business, when I approached the counter because I had a question. Suddenly, the cashier, "Chris," began shouting: "DON'T SOLICIT ME! DON'T SOLICIT ME!" Excuse me? I wasn't soliciting anyone. I was literally trying to ask a question. The entire interaction escalated so quickly that I found myself standing there thinking, What just happened? Did I accidentally walk into the season finale of a very dramatic telenovela? Chris became visibly red-faced and extremely agitated, and the intensity of the interaction was completely disproportionate to what was actually happening. I was simply a customer trying to ask a question, and suddenly I was on the receiving end of a level of anger I absolutely did not expect. At that point, the fashion fantasy was officially over. I did not feel comfortable or safe, so I left. And honestly? The 50-foot mannequin was the highlight of the entire experience. Market Market had me at Jeremy Scott and lost me somewhere around PSBS. If you're looking for liquor, I'd shop elsewhere and compare prices. I think it's ridiculous that a nonprofit is pricing their items that high. It's price gouging and newsflash you are no competition to resellers. We spend more money there than an average person. It's a shame I no longer will shop at that location!
