I reached out to several towing companies on Yelp, but none were available on a Sunday. Thankfully, Lake County Towing came through when I needed them most. I left my truck key in a secure spot, and they promptly towed it to the nearest Ford dealership. When they arrived, they found there was no place to drop it off, so they brought it back to their shop for safekeeping. The next morning, we coordinated another tow to Frankfort, IL, where the truck was repaired. I can't say enough good things about Angel and his team--they were professional, kind, and incredibly helpful after such a scary experience losing all brakes on I-294 North. They went above and beyond, and thanks to them, I still managed to catch some fish that day. Huge thanks to Lake County Towing!

We had to go stay at a hotel due to a power outage, and things were looking bleak when my car was undriveable in the morning. My Power Steering had gone out and per AAA the estimated wait time for a tow was almost two hours. Derek from Illinois Towing arrived approximately an hour after I called in. Needless to say, I was frustrated, hot, irritated and unpleasant by this point. Derek was sympathetic, professional, pleasant and courteous. I abruptly changed the location I wanted to tow the car to and he expertly found the address. I work in the automotive sector and was very impressed with Illinois Towing.

The communication with this company should be so much better. I found out on Thanksgiving (after…read moreseeing an unauthorized SUV parked in one of our spots) that they stopped patrolling our lot a month and a half ago. Apparently the City of Chicago rules changed about suburban companies servicing the city for tows, and now requires a license and a fee. I was disappointed because their service was world's better than NorthShore. I bought guest passes on Sept. 16. But if they haven't been patrolling our lot, without EVER sending us an email or calling, for a month, what was the point of selling the passes to us. Waste of money. The owner and a tow truck driver said someone (Glenda?) was supposed to send an email to us, but we got absolutely nothing. The fact that we never sent a cancellation letter for a new company should've been the tip off. If not for the SUV parked in one of our spots, I have no idea how long it would've taken them to tell us. I noticed communication was all over the place anyway. One lady on the phone (still unsure if it was Glenda) would tell me to text pictures of the car that needs to be towed instead of taking the info down herself. The owner, who usually sounded like he wanted to do anything but answer the phone, would still take the info via phone. Cris was responsive, but he also gave me another number to call and would follow-up to see who was working that night. (I felt bad about this because I always seemed to need his help on off days.) When a tow request was overnight and I'd call in the morning, the owner told me on a couple of occasions he didn't know what was going on. Nobody seems to know what the next person is doing. I'll give the company 5 stars for Cris. He always was quick to respond, followed up and efficient. Kelly was at first and then again later on, so I'll give him 4 stars. (He tolerated my dog who had a case of the Zoomies.) I think the team is nice overall and STILL would've rather worked with them than another towing company, but I give it 3 stars due to disorganization and mediocre communication.

Luckily for me, Danny from North Shore Towing just happened to be driving by after I had been there for 10 minutes. I didn't call him or anything - he just saw my car on the road and knew something was wrong. He assessed what was wrong with my battery and knew I had to go to the local dealership. He took great care and value of my car, towed it and me to the local dealer, and helped me through the process of finding the right person to talk to. He charged an affordable price and let me know best practices of getting it reimbursed through insurance. Danny's been doing this for 45 years - he knows everyone and everything about this business all around town. I can't thank him enough for his help - he saved my day, was a real pleasure to spend some time with, and I wish more people were a bit more like him. Appreciate you Danny and North Shore Towing!
