Very cool and unique bar. Started my Sunday funday here pretty early. The bar was empty but our bartender was very nice and recommended some things in the area for us to do. The place is spacious. The space is also very nice and the drinks were good. They had a great range of cans, wines, and cocktails and could easily make classics too. They also have some bar food that was pretty tasty. What's not to like about this bar? Where else can you go have a drink while supporting local charities. This bar picks four local charities that you may or may not have heard about. With every drink purchase, you receive a ticket and you get to vote for the charity you think could benefit the most from contributions made from part of your purchase. All the charities receive something. What a cool concept! The bar itself is also very cool. It is a large open space with the bar smack dab in the middle. They have seating around it as well as all over. The ceilings are high and just a beautiful space overall. They also have a photo booth off to one side as well as a large shuffle board right when you walk in. Customer service has always been good every time I have been here. The menu is not large and overwhelming. They have a few items in every category such as beer, wine, cocktails and non alcoholic beverages. I've had a little bit of everything and haven't been disappointed in any of my choices yet. I have never partook in any of the food items here, but at a glance, it looks like they got your typical bar foods. Whenever I am in the downtown area and bar hopping, we always end up at Angel Share at some point. The vibes are great and the charity aspect makes it even more appealing. I will be back! read more

What a cute bar! Friends and I joined another friend and his friends on a Saturday night, sort of impromptu. It's cutely designed with fun art deco. Luckily for us, it was not crowded at all. Drinks - we were easily able to order. They have a brief little menu, but presume they can make off the menu as well. I had the Pimms Cup, and it was as I expected it to be, which is a good thing. Then, after paying out, they give you a ticket to donate to 4 different cause they have selected for that month. They tally up at the end of the month and those with the most tickets, they donate, I think 10% to that cause. How philanthropic! An excuse to get a group together and order drinks! I love the idea and atmosphere of this place. Definitely a more indy vibe from the waiters, but very instagram worthy with backdrops and neon signs. The space is pretty large with a large bar in the center. There are lots of places to sit and a more intimate upstairs area to sit at. Angel Share was the second stop on our St. Paddy's day outing. We got here right when they opened around 4 pm. It was a short walk from McIntyre's downtown. I absolutely LOVE the concept of this bar. When you order a drink or food, you get a ticket to vote for one of the four nonprofit organizations in the local community that they have selected. All of them receive a portion of the proceeds biannually. Eat, drink, and make a difference in your community? Heck ya, I'm in! The green Jell-O shots shots were $1, and it tasted like lime. Not bad. I ordered a classic cocktail called Pimms Cup, which has gin, cucumber, mint, lemon, and soda. It was refreshing and a lighter break from the Guinness I had at McIntyre's. All of their non-St. Paddy's day drinks looked pretty. We had about 15-20 people with us that just kept arriving, but they served us quickly and efficiently. A few members in our group played pool. We were looking for a post-Octoberfest place to gather, and I had yet to have come here. I had been to its previous iteration, but not the current. Service was fast on a Saturday night! I had the Angel Share G&T, citrusy take on the classic... Okay so I had two. Had we been there longer, I probably wouldn't have moved anywhere else on the menu, since that was the refreshing, well balanced concoction I didn't know I needed that night. If you haven't been, the bar is on the first floor, taking the center of the main room, with a gathering area in the back, with a second floor lost overlooking the whole place. It's a nice view, good ambience. It's in downtown, so parking is hit or miss. Luckily I was on the Uber Crew on this particular evening. Price range is appropriate to the area. My fiancé and I went last night after getting engaged and for a Saturday it was dead. The atmosphere is very quiet. I feel like it would be a great place maybe during happy hour. The quesadillas were ordered. They taste great. The fries tasted good. The chicken was undercooked so I don't really suggest ordering the chicken. The drinks were good. I had a few shots. The drinks were fine and I had an old-fashioned and it was good as well. The atmosphere itself the building is beautiful. The architecture is great. Formerly OKRA Charity Saloon, ownership has transferred to the longtime general manager, Mary Ellen Angel, who rebranded it as Angel Share HTX, but still runs it with the same business model - i.e. several charities are selected each month and patrons receive a ticket for each of their drink purchases, which they use to vote for one of the charities. The charity that receives the most tickets at the end of the month receives the bar's profits. They have a limited selection of rotating local draft beers, several cocktails, decent bourbon/whiskey/scotch options with a small food menu, too. On this most recent occasion, I ordered a mini-boss IPA from Eureka Heights as well as a Drink Yo Face cocktail where they put cocktail art of whatever you want on the top of an egg-white cocktail. I asked for them to surprise me, and well, you can judge for yourself by the picture attached to this review. The original drink's pic came out quite blurry, so they gave me another one and didn't charge me for either. Artistry aside, the cocktail was tasty, giving notes of a pisco sour. I would say the best reason for coming to Angel Share, though, is not the drinks but the decor. Located in a building that has been a bar since 1882 with a barrel vaulted ceiling, a large picture of Betty White hanging from the upstairs, and a painting of Dolly White adorning the back of the bar area facing said upstairs, it's truly a unique environment. As with many places downtown, the main drawback is parking. Street parking is extremely limited with parking on Market Square a more feasible option, though that can also become difficult on weekends. I would recommend ubering or expecting to have to park several blocks away when you plan on making the trip. All in all, while the drink selection might not be as expansive as other bars, this is a place that I have found myself coming back to again and again with friends and coworkers alike because of the unique business model and cool interior and vibe. If you're in downtown, and looking for a watering hole, I highly recommend making this place one of your stops. read more

Previously Okra Charity Saloon, Angel Share takes what they need from profits to cover operating costs then donates the rest to a charity of the month selected by the bar patrons. Every time you get a drink at the bar, you're given a little ticket where you can cast your vote, and the local charity that gets the most votes at the end of the month, wins! Beyond the feel good, "I'm drinking for charity!" part, they make great cocktails and have a good selection of craft beers and spirits. They do offer food in case there's a craving, but I wouldn't say you'd find full on dinner there. The interior is a vaulted ceiling, exposed wood rafters and brick, beautiful space. Service has always been top notch and friendly. They're quick with a drink even on a packed evening. All in all, Angel Share is a beautiful bar doing great work for our community.
