Luna loves it here!

This is now called Andy's Bark Park, named after the Woodbury police department's first K9 officer. I have been coming here almost daily with my pup for two years now. In comparison to some other dog parks in the area it's pretty good. It has a mix of fully fenced in open area, unfenced fields with paths and some wooded trails. There is a huge grassy area below the parking lot where people tend to socialize and watch their dogs play. Beyond that is a meadow area and then the perimeter trail and fence. There is also a large fully fenced small dog/beginner dog pen. The City of Woodbury states that all dogs must have a current license with the city to use this park. There is no double gating at this park, only swing hooks on the chain link gate. It is best to plan on unleashing after entering as many other parks require. I have seen several owners have problems trying to walk their dogs on leashes here, there's usually a pack of dogs waiting to greet a newcomer. There are two faucets with hoses attached in the main area which is nice and baby pools are kept filled with water in the summer season for doggie cool downs. In the winter, only the one asphalt path across the main area which connects the two gates gets plowed, the rest is a matter of people packing down the trails with use. There is no lighting either, so in winter it's very dark right after sunset. Be advised that urban coyotes have been spotted here. Both gates have poop bag dispensers but they are sometimes empty so bring your own too. Most of the people I see are diligent about cleaning up but there's always those few who could care less. All in all, this is a very good dog park with many good, conscientious dog owners.

This dog park is very nice, nature oriented, and overall great for the dog owner as well as dog. First of the deal, here's the things you have to bring - Boots (if winter, rain or melting times only) - Bug spray (if summer, there is a LOT of water!) - Leash just in case The reason I LOVE this dog park is because of the big front gate (no dog feels cornered when greeted), the water pools/bowls, big meadow and trails, and just how private it is. Never bring your dog in the front gate leashed, This is extremely hazardous and should not be attempted. People will leave INSTANTLY the second they see a uncontrollable dog on a leash. If you must keep your dog leashed for awhile, go into the peaceful (usually lacking dogs) back entrance. Just go straight when you enter the road, there's a path to the left that is the back entrance. It great for dogs that need to blast off steam before greeting dogs. Parking is pretty good- we manage! There's parking straight down the main entrance under the trees by the back entrance, and main parking by the front gate. It's not by a main road, but it's still not all closed in. This is one reason it doesn't get five stars, as much as a wish. I know sight hound owners are always nervous about being closed in, so that's one thing to consider. Another is the small dogs. Big dogs can be simply intimidating, and there's a lot of them here. I have the feeling small dog owners should steer free. I've seen quite a few scuffles, and I have heard of a beagle getting attacked a couple weeks ago because it got defensive. If you want an idea of what I've seen: I've noticed that great danes are not rare here. I've seen quite a few. There's also a daily mastiff. The danes might be in your dogs face, I'm not exactly sure, but the mastiff is well behaved. They're asking for a small dog area, so be on the lookout! You might even be able to help the dog owner's cause, because they really need a small dog area for the safety of everyone. Yes, you require a licence to enter. But no one checks this at all, and no one seems to care. You can come from a neighboring town/city (as I have), but please have your dog licensed there just to be sure, because you can be fined if you do not have one. The police dogs work across the street right next door, if that motivates you! Some people play ball here. Some people (for some stupid reason) bring their ball aggressive dogs to this park. Rule of the thumb is to avoid them, even if they hog the main entrance. In the case of rain, there is a main shelter by the entrance. They have both poop bags and trashcans on site, along with posted rules. Want to bring the kids? Rule of thumb one parent = one thing you have to take care of. Taking care of includes dogs and kids. You have a two dogs, your partner, and a kid? That might be too much if your dogs aren't acting well and you need to restrain them. Or even worse, break up a fight! If you're bringing your kid: - This is mainly a big dog park, so make sure they are prepared for it. - Make sure they know not to scream or run. - Make sure your kid knows to ask to greet. - Kid must know how to nicely greet dogs. Some dogs will bite when startled, even when not aggressive! - Over a certain age. I recommend the age of two-three Anyways, the only downfall is the bugs are bad, and it sometimes floods during rainy times, and can be downright dirty. But it's an awesome park, better the one my city has, so yay!

We brought our dog here as a test for being off-leash before a weekend at the cabin. Although the park states it has fences (and it sorta does?) I wouldn't look at it as a traditional dog park--so if you're interested in having huge fields for your dog to navigate, you've come to the right place! All of the people we encountered were great. Super friendly and their dogs were well-mannered as well. There are some baby pools with running water provided, but if you're meandering the fields like we were, I'd advise bringing some of your own water (especially if it's a hot day). We were here for about an hour and it was a really nice little hike--exactly what our dog needed to be throughly pooped out. All in all, such a great dog park and incredible way to spend a lazy sunday!
