The larger area is heavily wooded with deciduous trees with about an acre to roam and run. The other section is long and narrow and much smaller, yet enough room to play fetch and run around especially for smaller dogs. There is a large parking lot extending from the dog park past the water tower and down to a playground. The few times we have been here it has been quiet with only us there or one or two others. It's kept fairly clean and appears to be a work in progress with brushing, tree trimming and etc to keep up, but overall is very adequate to meet our needs as we begin to train our new dog.

I encountered some pretty nice humans here, as well as their pups. Enjoyed some nice conversations with strangers or just walked alone. So much space for dogs to run free. Water jugs were at both ends of the park but were both empty on all of our visits, so bring water for your furry friend. The rules say no digging, but there are some decent sized holes under the picnic tables where the dogs have tried to find a cool place to lay down. Lots of trees, well maintained, bags and buckets for doggy doo. On one occasion there were gunshots at a nearby shooting range that kind of spooked my pups so just be aware. Otherwise, our dogs were so excited to hop in the car and know they were coming here. You can also walk the trails, but it's a hike from the campground and our pup was tired out just walking to the park. Plenty of parking, though traffic can get heavy entering if arriving when the nearby dump opens.

It's meant to be enclosed by private property that has tall grass. I personally feel more comfortable with my dog being fenced in on the off chance he sees or hears something and bolts. But my dog isn't under 20 lbs so that's a bummer. I suppose if no smaller pups are using it, that we could play in there until another pup comes.

Excellent! I stumbled here as our normal dog park was under construction. Located next to a giant…read moresoccer field, I felt totally safe as lots of matches were being played on a Sunday afternoon with families all around. We checked out the large dog park and my understanding is that there is a smaller one next door. Both parks contain agility courses should your dog enjoy that and it's also what makes this park unique. In addition, there is a large common space with a gazebo type shelter for owners to sit and free water for the doggies. Down the hill you will find two paths where one leads to water (don't worry dogs can't get in as there is a fence) and a giant uphill climb and the other is a more flat circular loop. I enjoyed all the wildlife, the greenery and the open space. My doggies enjoyed it too! Parking is excellent!

This is hands down my favorite dog park. Now with that being said, I'm giving it only 4 stars…read morebecause of the lack of a clean water for the dogs to run in. Sure, the creek is right there, but it's not in the dog park. But honestly, why quibble? This place is great! Each loop on the side sandy/icy track (depending on the season) is a 1/2 mile trek and a great way to get your way steps in as your hound does the same. Crowd wise it always varies. I've been there early where I'm the only one and the hound is running everywhere sniffing and pissing on all as he gets a sensory overload. Other times not only is the hound running everywhere sniffing and pissing on all, he's also playing with the other hounds that are there. And he yes, he's getting his ass sniffing on. There are two gates. trash cans at each location. Plus sometimes cans are located around the main loop along with that occasional picnic table where us out of share humans can sit. Water is brought in by volunteers (from home during the summer months) along with mailboxes situated to easily grab a plastic bag to pick up after your hound. But honestly, the main reason this place is so amazing (s/b a five star review but we don't every asshole showing up) is the fact that there are volunteers who work with the county, donate personal resources, along with their own time to make this place so great. Don't believe me? Go to their FB page as there is a real community about this place. Oh! One last thing. When it's cold, and that wind blows from the west across the open field and where you walk, you will feel it. Also, there are times when that same loop can be incredibly icy so be careful.

The park itself is great, they have a great system of making sure all of the dogs have enough water with a watering station, lots of water jugs, and even a water wagon to help transport the full jugs to the park. Currently the visitors center is closed for the season but the trails are still accessible. We did the glacial potholes trails which was full of rock climbers. Great views of the St Croix River. Probably spent 15-20 minutes at this trail. Then we did the Walter F Mondale trail till we decided to turn back. Lots of nature to see including hawks, robins, chipmunks, squirrels, etc. Lots of great photo ops too! Probably spent 30-45 minutes on this one. Also they have port a potty's at the parking lot which is helpful while the restrooms are closed for the season.
