We are still getting used to MN winters and are discovering the phenomena of community centers and…read moreindoor playgrounds. We found this one when we got up today and decided to head over. Our son had a blast. There is plenty of playground equipment to climb on and over. There is a basketball court area as well as a soccer area with fake turf. There is also one of those bouncy pads for kids to toss themselves around on. There is also a separate play area for kids 2 and under, which is good, so you don't have to worry as much about them getting trampled. There is also an area with tables and chairs so you can bring in food and eat, take a break, or sit and read while your kids burn some calories.

Even my hubby (a big kid) was shooting hoops. My young son of 4 was loving the green, purple and blue playground. There a great trampoline area, a playground for climbers, a playground for little ones, soccer field and basketball court. Even a spot for a parent to chill with some snacks or a beverage while their kid is running around. Rules...no food or beverage while playing and no shoes. They have cubbies up front for jackets, shoes, etc. Totally recommend for those needing a place for their kids to be kids and get exercise especially in the winter climate!

It was a solid location…read morewith plenty of coverage in case it rains, plenty of picnic tables to hold the amount of people we had, and lots of electrical outlets to ensure we had what we needed for powering fans and sound speakers. Being down the street from our hotel didn't hurt much either as well as being closely located to either Interstate 35 West or 694. There is also plenty of athletic fields to participating in sports, walkways for walking around the grounds, and the restrooms were conveniently located by the pavilion and were individual so you didn't have to worry about people hovering over you.

Maybe I don't want to leave a 5-start review because then the secret is out…read more I'm searching for nice, quiet beaches around Blaine. I got tired of Anoka County Parks beaches with lifeguards because they tend to be overcrowded and loud. But that's a different post... Golden Beach was recommended to me a couple of years ago, and I finally took that advice. Easy access off of Lexington, down a quiet residential street. No wonder it's a hidden gem. I had no clue this was back here. A big parking lot right next to a playground. The lot was just re-tarred, but no lines were painted yet. The beach is not visible from the parking lot/playground due to a hill... added privacy. A slight walk to the beach made us pass a clean bathroom and pavilion. On the way back to the car, I noticed there was a concession stand open. Must be on the back side of the restroom building. There was another path leading into tree cover (away from beach path)...did not explore where that went. The beach is narrow and long. There was a retaining wall separating the sand from the grass. Prefect place for kids and adults to sit on while getting sunscreen put on or their swim shoes. Lots of grass to sunbathe in. Big mature trees to find shade under for those not wanting to fry as they watch the water. The swimming area is not roped off. To one side is high reeds. To the other is a fishing dock. Kid swimmers were either out in the open or towards the reeds. I dipped my toe in...87 degrees out and it was cold. There was staked signage that the water was treated with something (I can't remember what). It said the water was safe to swim in, but not to drink it (people and pets). The water didn't look clear, no algae. A very lovely beach. How no one reads this so that it stays that way!

That waterslide with the lights and music? Awesome! It's a one of a kind experience. Beyond the waterpark the playground was also great. It's not your average playground; it's big, well designed and has tons of opportunities for kids to explore and play. What really makes Shoreview Community Center stand out is the community. They offer so much more than just a pool and playground. From the fitness center to the skatepark they have created a space for all interests and ages. It's clear they have invested in making a valuable resource for everyone.

After swimming we sat in the seating area while I gave my kids some snacks. A visibly intoxicated woman sat next to us and began making inappropriate disturbing comments directed at my children. I initially tried to ignore her hoping she would move along but the situation quickly escalated. She stood over my infant in their car seat which felt threatening and completely unacceptable. I repeatedly asked her to back away from my kids because I had no idea what she might do in her condition. Instead of stepping in staff and security stood by and watched the situation unfold. Even as the woman continued yelling using profanity and attempting to get closer to my children who were clearly frightened no one intervened or made any effort to de-escalate or remove her. This place not only failed to provide a safe, family friendly environment but the complete lack of response from staff made the situation far worse. It was an extremely distressing experience and I would not recommend this facility to families expecting basic safety and support.
