Michael helped my son to not only get through that course, but also to be prepared for calculus this year, where he is succeeding remarkably. Additionally, Michael offered general advice and specific practice techniques for the SAT, and he shared his expertise on essay writing, both for the exam and for college applications. Michael has been very flexible and understanding in addressing our questions and concerns, and is both professional and friendly to work with. While he charges more than some private home tutors you might find on Craigslist, he is a full-time professional tutor who charges comparably to, or less than tutoring centers. We definitely value the added convenience of having him come straight to our home at times that meet our schedule. We have enjoyed working with Michael and look forward to working with him again as our son prepares for college next year, and can strongly recommend him for any parents concerned about their child's progress in math, science, or preparing for college.

It went so well, I hired Michel to tutor my daughter who was on an IEP (auditory process disorder and speech delay) and struggles with any new task. I never told Michael she was disabled because I did not want a different style than he provided my son. I was worried for my daughter at first because I saw nothing in his review about how he worked with kids with special needs and my daughter was so behind in math. He started tutoring her well over three year ago and we saw such an amazing transformation in her math work and grades in just 3 months. My daughter was quiet and somewhat stubborn and yet he had the patience to work with her 2-3 times a week (1-2 hours a day). Maya just graduated from Willow Glen she will attend University of CA Dominican this fall, and her math placement test work placed her in highest entry for freshman math. We feel very lucky and blessed to have had Michael on our side. Thank you, Michael, for all you have done for my family!! You are doing the right work, you rock we couldn't have done this without you.

Our daughter was struggling in AP Calculus and we had tried MANY tutors and coaching centers but none of them made a difference. Alan took time to assess her needs and build a rapport with her and in the short time of working with him, she was able to solidify her fundamentals and get through this class with confidence. He is extremely patient and encouraging and takes the time to meet the student at his/her level and move up from there. I would recommend his services a 100% to anyone and everyone! We are eternally grateful for you Alan. You didn't give up on our daughter and believed she could... and she did!!

We were referred to Liferaft from a friend when my son came to me asking for help in finding a resource to tutor him through statistics. We had tried different independent tutors before and other organizations to no avail. We couldn't find a tutor that my son connected with or felt he could learn from. I contacted Liferaft immediately and heard back from its founder, Michael, right away. He assessed the situation and what resources my son needed. I was also coming to him very late in the game, less than five weeks away from finals. Michael matched us with an exceptional tutor on his team, a working teacher with a masters in education, within hours and we scheduled our first session. It was a match. Not only did Jen immediately start creating study guides for my son, but she reached out to his teacher, stayed on top of his progress and grades and stayed in contact with my son's teacher to find out the plan for the remainder of the semester. Jen kept me updated along with Michael and she checked in regularly. This group has incredible communication skills and are instantly responsive and reassuring to student and parent alike. My son was being taught without a text book or a structure for an outside resource to really be able to leverage. So, Liferaft ordered materials and the AP stats book to teach from. I quite honestly have never seen this type of effort from a tutor or tutoring firm before. They worked with him at their Scotts Valley location and several hours offsite in preparation for the final and the final projects and study guides. My son was able to hold his good grade with Jen and Michael's help and he actually learned a great deal from them. And, they helped me avoid a heart attack. I truly wish we would have discovered Liferaft years ago. The new Scotts Valley location is ideal for this district so don't wait to get your child engaged with this valuable resource as soon as possible. They make such a difference.
