This review is WAY overdue but very necessary!! Today is my two year wedding anniversary and on looking back to how special that day was it would not have been as special without Andrews Formal. Nick, Carmella and their team truly SAVED our wedding. While taking pictures before heading to the church for the ceremony my suit jacket caught on fire and was destroyed at the mercy of a lit candle. The thought of me spending the day without a suit jacket made my heart sink as the bride and groom should be the best dressed at their own wedding. A quick call to Nick to tell him about the catastrophic event and he said not to worry and that he would take care of it. Needless to say that Nick and the Andrews Formal team saved the day. He raced from from his store location to meet me at the church providing me with a replacement suit jacket minutes before the ceremony began. The replacement jacket was flawless. It really doesn't show from the outside that looks so small, but Andrew's Formal is a grand place for tuxedo rental. In fact, they have a whole warehouse underneath the retail store with all the sizes and colours you want for all their tuxedo models. I was very impressed that they tailor every single tuxedo even if they are rentals! I'm glad too because my groom is rather slim and our groomsmen are definitely not all the same sizes! Also I appreciate SO MUCH that they suggested my groom and our groomsmen wear ivory shirts under heir tux rather than white ones so my ivory/off-white wedding dress doesn't look yellowish on our wedding pictures! This was so thoughtful and really something I would not think of right away because I obviously didn't have my dress with me, but that would have bugged me instantly on my big day! The guys are supposed to go back there for their measurements and pickup their tux anywhere in the 3 days before our wedding and have their tux tailored to their sizes. I only had 12 days to spare so I needed quick service, quality tailoring, reasonable price, and available inventory. I reached out to 5 stores and Andrew's was the perfect match. I received an email 24hrs within inquiring. They had similar style to what I was looking for and a quote that fit my budget. Their quote was inclusive of the following: - jacket - pants - shirt - tie / bowtie vest - pocket square - shoes - cufflinks - studs - suspenders I went in for a fitting with Carmela and Andrew who took my measurements and provided sound tailoring recommendations (length, hemlines, fit, etc). Their service is top notch: as good as it gets, and in this age of sub-par service, very addictive like the Compost Cookie at Momofuku Milk Bar! Nick, Carmela et al. run a very smoothly sailing ship. Reading the great Yelp reviews I ventured out to this Eglinton W. store which is very nondescript, and rather aged, from the outside. I wasn't too sure about Andrew's Rentals given its location, but seeing customers inside, ranging from 65 yos to 5 yos, trying on tuxes allayed my misgivings. The selection is a bit limited; they carry quite a few tuxes but there's not much variety in terms of colors and styles. They do the classics well. I ended up choosing a shawl collar black tux. Anything besides the tux, such as a cuff shirt, cuffs,vest, tie/ bow tie and shoes, are extra, unlike some other places where everything is included in the price. Nick and his staff were a pleasure to deal with. Their rental policy is the most customer friendly of all the rental places I tried: you can pick up your tux upto 3 days before the event and return it upto 2 business days after! Unfortunately, I didn't end up following through on my order after I realized that the wedding I was renting the tux for wasn't a black-tie affair after all. Nick assured me over the phone that he would return my deposit even though my suit was ready. However, when I went the next day to claim my refund, he wasn't there and Carmela didn't seem to know anything about the refund. She assured me she would contact Nick, who had gone out of town by then, and asked me to call back the next afternoon. I wasn't very happy about this development. However, Carmela called me back the next morning and informed me that a refund had been issued on my CC and gave me the details of the refund. She even snail mailed me a copy of the refund receipt! I am very, very impressed by her follow through. Bottom line: Andrew's Formal Rental's collection might only be worth a bronze, but their service is undisputably gold worthy. read more

I honestly cannot recommend this place enough. I will certainly write an update after the rental occasion, but based on my experience, I can't imagine it will be anything short of spectacular! We came to Andrew's after going to a large chain store which was very disappointing. They offered us only one option, and the sales person was not exactly helpful or friendly. She kept telling us to come back later - I was feeling downhearted but I'm so happy we continued our pursuit! Andrew's is more than meets the eye. The signage is a little dated and I have to admit, I had my doubts, but once I walked in that all changed. We were immediately greeted by the extremely friendly staff. We didn't have an appointment but Nick immediately dove into our options - asking a ton of questions, but also going beyond what we thought we wanted and bringing out excellent suggestions. They obviously know what they're doing. All 10,000 tuxes for rent are onsite, and they do an "English fitting" to you three days prior to the event - they make sure that you are completely satisfied. With all this going on, I started to doubt if we were going to be able to afford the rental, considering how above and beyond they were going - fortunately, the rental was only $218, AND since we rented 6, we got one rental free! They then allow you to transfer the discount across all the rentals, making everything a bit cheaper for everyone. To top it off, after the event they allow you to use your total rental cost towards a purchase of a tux or a suit, and it doesn't have to be the same style as the one that was rented. I came to Andrew's as they are part of www.tuxedofit.com which allows you to get sized for free and order a tux rental online at another North American location (the wedding I am in happens to be in San Diego). I was a bit apprehensive of going, as I thought there was the chance that the staff might be a bit rude given that I was only going for a free sizing. The experience was the complete opposite and Nick was extremely friendly and professional. As it turns out, we had a good conversation related to my work. Nick definitely seems to get the importance of building relationships with people. I would highly recommend based on the service I received. I do attend formal dinners quite regularly in Toronto so the next time I need a tux rental, I'll definitely go to this shop, despite it being a bit out of the way (I am downtown) due to the strong customer service. There were some challenges due to some members in my wedding party not being local to Toronto. As a result, I ended up giving incorrect measurements, rescheduled appointments, and also had to request for last minute accommodations. The staff still tried to accommodate me at all times, and was courteous and professional throughout the entire process. I just had my wedding on Friday October 4th, 2013 at the Berkeley Church, and I rented my tuxedos from Andrew's Formals for myself, my 6 groomsmen, 2 fathers and ring bearer and I could not have been more happy and surprised on how phenomenal our tuxedos looked. Having a large bridal party I was worried if we needed alterations done we wouldn't have enough time, etc, but it worked out seamlessly! I had a groomsman and ring bearer fly in from Calgary who submitted their measurements online, and any alterations that needed to be made were quickly done and they looked amazing! We came in the day before the wedding to pick up the tuxedos and we didn't have any issues at all. I couldn't be more happy with the attention to detail everyone at the store has! Carmela was phenomenal and extremely helpful in helping me choose the perfect tuxedos! Thank you so much for an amazing experience! Flew in from out of town for a friend's wedding on a dime and found this place through Yelp. The drive from where I was staying was quite long but in the end it was worth it. These guys really knew their stuff and were both efficient yet meticulous about fitting the right formal wear for me. We went over some general styles and tips throughout all this in a very relaxed setting. I got my tuxedo in a little less than an hour flat and the wedding was a total success. The only place I could find in Toronto to rent a decent quality Morning Suit (trust me I looked long and hard) for my wedding and my groomsmen. Andrew's actually imported their Morning dress attire from Europe and the quality difference shows. Everyone at the wedding looked amazingly smart. All of the staff at the store were professional and courteous. From the initial meeting, to the fitting and even when we returned the clothing after the wedding. Do not be put off by the location of the store - it is worth the trip there from wherever you might be in the city. We trekked out there from the downtown core and I am glad I made the effort. When planning our wedding we went to many suit rental businesses. We were really thrown off by how other big box stores wanted us to put down a deposit, then come back on a future date, just to try on a suit. Seems like a pretty big hassle. Then we found Andrew's Formals! Andrew's Formals was great to work with. It's also great supporting local independently owned businesses. Andrew's Formals has all the suits they own in-house. As such, you can actually try something on the first time you go in. Further, they have a wide range of tuxedos and suits to rent. From traditional black, to navy, gray, charcoal, tan, white, and everything in between. Great if you're looking for something a bit different. The rates are on par with other rental companies. Their tailoring was also impeccable. My husband is a bit short and stocky, so suits are usually ill-fitting. This rental fit him like a glove- we'll likely purchase a suit from them in the future. This amazing place provides today's up-to-date styles in suits and tuxedos but their incredibly high level of service is from a different era where the customer really mattered. I had 24 hours to find a tuxedo for a last minute invitation I received for a major gala. I discovered Andrew's Formal Wear after some quick research and discovered they've been around since 1969 which made me hopeful. I had a great conversation with them on the phone. The other places I called couldn't guarantee me that my tuxedo would be ready in time. I asked Andrew's how long it would take and they said 30 MINUTES!!! WHAT?? 30 MINUTES??? So, I drove all the way from Aurora down to Yonge and Eglinton with very high expectations and every one of them was met. Nick had great advice for me that included wearing a jacket that had some texture as opposed to just a straight black. I originally resisted the idea and he didn't push me on it but I trusted that he knew what he was doing and he was bang on. I'm not the easiest guy to fit but everything was super comfortable. At one point, I felt like Iron Man when he tells the computer to put his super hero suit on because I just stood there with my arms out while a team of people put on my buttons, cufflinks, suspenders vest, tie and jacket. And to top it all off, the tuxedo was priced better than the other places I called. Sometimes there's a good reason while a place has been in business for almost 50 years. Earlier this summer I received a wedding invitation and decided that I needed a suit upgrade. When I shopped around with the intention of buying a new suit, it occurred to me that a new summer weight suit might sit in my closet for years before I wore it again. So, I thought "I wonder if you can rent a suit, not a tux, a suit?". A quick Google search led me to Andrew's; the reviews were very good so I paid them a visit at their Eglinton (just east of Dufferin) location. They showed me a number of suits and I picked a very good looking Perry Ellis summer suit. We spent about 20 minutes doing a fitting and taking measurements. They were very fussy and precise about measurements and fit...a good thing if, like me, you don't wear a suit very often. A few weeks later I went in to pick everything up. They had me try on the pants for length, spent 10 minutes hemming them in their back shop and sent me on my way with a perfectly tailored suit, pressed and nicely hung in a garment bag. To sum up; I loved the suit because it was a contemporary style that fit me today, not like a five year old suit that fit me five years ago. I felt like they really appreciated my business and treated me accordingly. They were fussy and careful about the fit. Another thing; it's clear that the people at Andrew's really like people. Will I be back? Definitely! Oh, the other obvious question; Price! Around $180. To purchase an equivalent suit, wear it for one day and leave in the closet for who knows how long, I'm guessing $800-$900. The rental option made sense to me. read more

I was in need of a good tux at a reasonable price. After shopping around online I talked to about 10 different places. I came across Andrew's Formal Rentals. They were the nicest and most helpful on the phone. I dropped by their store and met Nick the owner of the store. He assisted me right away. I couldn't afford much but despite that he treated me as his number one customer. The store has a wide variety of tuxs to choose from along with every accessary you could need.
