Perkins Tree Service prunes trees, removes trees, and grinds stumps. I have used this business…read moretwice--once to remove my backyard neighbor's tree (yes...) and once to remove four of my trees. In 2021, my backyard neighbor had a tall, dead tree that was near our property line and was very hazardous for several years. On a Friday, I contacted Perkins Tree Service to get an estimate. The owner Tom said that he would arrive for the estimate on a Saturday afternoon. On Saturday, he did NOT show up, so I contacted him, and he changed the appointment to a Sunday morning. On Sunday, Tom gave me an estimate of $875 plus $75 for grinding the stump. He said that he would be available to do the work on Tuesday morning--a wait of only two days! On the Tuesday, four workers from Perkins spent about one hour cutting down the tree. They used ropes and a chainsaw to remove the several large branches and a grinder to remove the stump. They did not damage the nearby fences or any other structures. In 2022, for my four trees, I contacted Tom on a Friday to get an estimate, and he said that he would give an estimate on Saturday or Sunday. He actually came out on Tuesday, and he gave an estimate of $500 to remove four ornamental trees and to grind their stumps. This current job was small, so Tom said that he would not make an appointment for it but would rather fit it in whenever he could in the next 1-2 weeks. Several days later, his crew removed the four trees. They did a very good job, so that only mulch was left behind. They cleaned up debris with a rake, leaf blower, and trash can. I deducted one star from my review because Perkins stood me up twice for estimates and because in 2023, I contacted Perkins again, but they never responded. Furthermore, my next-door neighbor set up an appointment for an estimate with Perkins in 2022, and they did not show up, so he hired a different company.

Nick answered my call, came to our home the next day and gave us a quote and set a day to start weekly service for our residential home. He is very personable and was very patient with all my questions, which he answered all. We have 3 plus acres that needed cut and trimmed. We have trees, fence and a few buildings on the property. It's impressive watching how fast they are. They left beautiful striped lines in our landscape and trimmed all areas needed. We were looking to find someone for a short period, but they did such a beautiful job and saved my husband an entire day. We intend to continue using Sunset Landscaping. This company turned out to be a blessing for us. We hope to use their other services in the future as well. Thank you Nick! Great team!

Unfortunately, my experience with this company was very disappointing due to the way the situation…read morewas handled. We were not properly notified by the borough that tree work would be taking place, so our vehicles had not been moved ahead of time. I completely understand that miscommunication happens, and there was never any argument or refusal on our part to move the vehicles. When I explained that we had not received proper notice, I was immediately told that the vehicles needed to be moved or they would be towed. I moved my vehicle right away. However, when I returned to the front of my home, the comments and threats about towing our vehicles continued, including statements about towing them if they were in the way for the remainder of the week. What bothered me most was the lack of basic courtesy and professionalism. I was never given much of an opportunity to explain the situation before being spoken to in a confrontational manner. A simple, respectful request to move the vehicles would have resolved the issue immediately. Miscommunications happen, but customers and residents should still be treated respectfully. Based on my experience, the communication and professionalism could have been handled much better.
