For me choosing this salon was a costly mistake. I went there for a 'transformation' four months ago (Summer 2012); I thought I'd treat myself and make an investment in a new style and colour after years of highlights. I chose Tracey, the creative director, for a cut and colour, the full works.
Tracey sold me the idea of going dark by showing me a gorgeous glossy chestnut hairpiece and putting it against my skin to show how well the colour would go with my blue eyes. Why not, I thought.
Applying the tint she kept talking about it being a beautiful colour called GG; she said don't worry this colour is gorgeous. I trusted her. When my hair was washed and the towel removed, I noticed straight away that my hair was red, not chestnut, but I put it down to the fact that I was sitting under a light and thought that perhaps it was the light that was reflecting in my chestnut colour.
Unfortunately, things were going from bad to worse. Before she started cutting my hair I specifically asked Tracey for a blunt cut, no chipping in, as my hair is fine and flyaway. Half way through cutting I noticed that she was chipping in! I asked why she was doing that and she replied that this was the right technique for the cut she was giving me. Great.
I was hoping that the colour would turn out to be chestnut but after blow drying I could clearly see that it was red. But again it was dark in that salon (downstairs) so I couldn't wait to leave and inspect it in peace.
When I got home my partner asked me 'why did you go red?' I cried. I hate red hair. I have a warm complexion and would never have agreed to have this colour applied. Searching on the internet for GG I found out that it means Gold on Gold, the warmest combination there is. What a disaster. Now this colour has washed out a bit and I have the most awful orange hair I am desperately trying to grow out. And it is a slow wait.
You may ask why I didn't go back to complain but complain I did, but I didn't go back because all they would have done is to suggest a correction, which would have been disastrous on my already damaged hair.
This is by far the worst hair service I have ever had - colour and cut. The worst and the most expensive. Please don't be as naive as I was - this 'service' cost me a bomb! Now I've found this lovely Turkish lady in the City at the Golden Scissors Unisex Salon who cut my hair beautifully for a normal price.
I would never ever go back to Andrew Barton again. To add insult to injury when I took off my white blouse that day I noticed two stains from the hair dye on the back, as big as 50p pieces. Tracey must have seen it as she walked behind me up the stairs when I was leaving the salon. And said nothing.
What a total disaster. I wish I had never laid eyes on that salon and stuck with my local hairdresser. Sadly I have a reminder of this mistake every day when I look in the mirror. read more
