They are knowledgeable, obviously love what they do, and their prices are very reasonable. Unfortunately, we had to put our beloved Kaitlyn down 3 weeks ago, but I was overwhelmed by the entire staff's immense love and empathy for Kaitlyn and me. They explained every step in detail. She was crying with me the whole time and petting Kaitlyn so lovingly. She hugged me genuinely twice before I left and said the sweetest words. Dr. Nelson and the staff there checked in on Kaitlyn several times over the few days before we put her down since we all thought she would improve. They fit us into their schedule with a few hours' notice on both Friday and Tuesday, acting like it wasn't a big deal to do so. She has such a tough job--all vets and vet techs do--but I'm so grateful that she was Kaitlyn's vet for the last 4 years. We had switched vets because Kaitlyn was misdiagnosed with Diabetes Insipidus instead of Cushing's Disease and because Dr. Nelson was one of the few vets who were willing to allow us to fill her prescription through a compounding pharmacy vs. a typical pharmacy that would charge 5 times the amount. Through her annual exams, sonic teeth cleanings and extractions, and annual stim tests for her Cushing's Diseaase, they cared for Kaitlyn so well and we paid much less than we did at other vets. I will never be able to express my gratitude for everything they've done for us and how they made such a heartbreaking time very peaceful. I thought I wouldn't be back for many years...but our friends couldn't keep their kitten anymore; we just had our first visit for "Pumpkin" there today. They were very loving to him, too. I highly recommend Monticello Pet hospital and Dr. Nelson if you need a vet for your pets.

We have 3 little dogs, 1 male and 2 females which do not get a long and have to be kept separate, we explain to Ashley the situation when she came for a visit to get familiar with the dogs and she totally got it and didn't get scared away. She is a wonderful young lady and when she was here with my fur babies she sent pictures and a couple of videos of the dogs while we were gone, which made me fill better because we had never had a dog sitter before. Dr. Laura Decker is wonderful to work with, and really knows Terriers! Westies can be pretty sceptical meeting a new person at eye level while leashed, she takes the time to let the dogs get to know her voice, and has a gentle touch. This vet has a very strong idea of how he feels it is best to treat your animal. After allowing the…read morevet to examine my dogs, we talked about medicine refills needed. The vet was willing to fill the meds for pick-up at the clinic, but I declined due to availability and pricing elsewhere. I had the vendor I chose fax in the request with no response from the vet office. I called the vet and was told they never received a fax, so I had the prescription request sent again. With no response I called the vet office again and was told their fax machine was out of toner so they were not receiving faxes. I asked for a phone approval as my dog is on a time sensitive medication. The vendor I chose to fill the medicines attempted to call the vet office and authorization was not given. I called the vet office and asked what was going on and was told the heart worm preventive medicine was not one the vet office uses so they would not authorize the request. For the record the medicine I chose was the generic for heart guard. In regards to the time sensitive medicine, I was told my dog needed a blood test for this medicine. Keep in mind when I scheduled the appointment, I told the office I needed this medicine filled, we talked about it during the visit, blood was taken, and meds were offered onsite for much higher. Three days after I visited the vet and spent $435 on three dogs, I received a certified letter in the mail indicating they would no longer provide care for my dogs. I inquired why and was told because one of my dogs growled and showed his teeth when the unsuaul practice for examining dogs took place required that dog to be muzzled. For minds wondering, this dog is an 11 year old border collie lab mix that has never been agressive before this experience. In all honesty I could have swallowed "we don't want to treat this dog going forward", but to not fill reputable medicines after paying for exams and having testing done is unethical. I also received the medical records for the dogs, and the records clearly indicate they received the medication faxes the day they were sent. This vet should have retired years ago, has horrible bedside manner, and will only work with you on medications if you have his clinic fill the medications. Steer clear of this vet and treat your fur children elsewhere!

Because of COVID, it has been very difficult to find a place to take him today. Which is understandable. Every vet I have called so far today has no openings, but has given me tips that have actually helped while I have tried my hardest to find a place to go. Until I called THIS place. They were quick to pick up the phone. After explaining our situation, the first question the woman asks is, "are you a prior client to this clinic?" I had never been asked that before so I was a little flustered, and because it is my parent's dog, I was honest and tell her I didn't know. I assumed she would have asked for my information to check to see if I was in their system or not, but all she said was, "Because you aren't a prior client we cannot see you at this time." Again, I was flustered, but I couldn't think of anything else to say but, "thank you for your time." And then she hung up the phone without saying another word! I know I could have been more blunt and asked for her to look for my information, but if that is how they treat people, I don't like imagining how they treat pets. Overall sad experience.
