Our Favorite vet, Dr. Kate, is no longer here. I brought Kylo in to get chipped because we have another cat with a weight problem, so we got feeders that work with chips. They do come with collar tags, but our cats are strictly indoor cats, and are not used to collars...so chips would work out best in the long run. We scheduled an appointment to get Kylo chipped. When Dr. Pepin came in, she first advised me that I should have had him chipped when he was neutered. I told her that at the time, it was not an issue, and it was an expensive option, so we didn't feel the need for it. She then told me that it's a big needle and it's better for it to be done when they are already sedated...I understood, but at the same time, we didn't need it done, so it is what it is. She still seemed to judge me, and said, "well, maybe you'll be better informed next time." She then proceeded to tell me they would try, but that the last time Kylo was in, he was a bit troublesome and they might not be able to do it because of his behavior. The last time he was there, he was a kitten. He has NEVER been aggressive, or any sort of problem whatsoever...I asked why she would say that, and Dr. Peppin said he was a problem at the end of his visit, which I don't believe for a second. He was a baby...She then discredited me and said "well it he was a problem at the end"...What end? Then aske if I was sure that we never had him chipped. I said I was positive, and she said, "we'll scan him just to make sure your memory is good". How condescending can you be? I loved brining my animals here, but this ruined everything. When my elderly cat who was 18 yrs old died, the doctor at the time was the sweetest and most supportive person I could ever hope for. Dr. Kate. Dr. Pepin, the opposite. I will be leaving At Home because of this. The judgement was unexpected, and definitely unjustified. I am a pretty confident person. I would not say I am overly sensitive, I can take abuse, but I love my cat, and I always have what is best for him in mind....So I didn't have him chipped when he was neutered, well that was a year ago, we are past that now...do I wish I would have done it then, Yes...but can I do anything about it now...No...But to be told, "well, now you'll be better educated for the next time"...as if I am some ignorant a hole pet owner, was too much. Goodbye. My family, who brings all their pets to you, will be leaving. It was a good run, and the rest of the staff for the most part is probably great, but this was the straw the camel didn't see coming....

Within the last year I adopted a healthy, elderly cat. Always kind of a picky eater, last week she…read morestopped eating completely. I had not yet taken her to a vet, so I called At Home Animal Clinic on the advice of a friend. They were able to fit me in that day, but were unable to do lab work because the cat was so dehydrated. They rehydrated her and gave her medication to help with her touchy stomach and had me bring her in the next day for blood work. When the results came in, they were not good. I made the difficult decision to have her euthanized. At Home accommodated us quickly so kitty would not continue to suffer. They were gentle and compassionate, and I felt their prices were reasonable. I highly recommend them.

I can say to my dog, "we're going to the vet!" and her tail starts wagging because she knows she's about to be loved on, even when she needs to get s-h-o-t-s. Rivertown has not only been an amazing partner in my dog's routine care, but they're so flexible. They've fit us in for emergency visits (I have a dramatic dog, and I'm a worried dog mom), have let us pick up flea, tick, and heartworm meds quickly and without hassle, and even fit us in for a last-minute routine test when I didn't realize we were overdue! Maggie was spayed here by Dr. Garlie and I couldn't find her scar even if I tried. I've never seen a dog heal so quickly and without any issues at all! While the price may be higher than other local competitors, you truly get what you pay for here, which is incredible staff and service and knowledgeable, caring doctors who make each visit an amazing experience for your pet.

The vet assistant asked me which vaccines I wanted and suggested one that I never heard of, the parvovirus, I declined. When the vet came in those notes were apparently ignored and the vet started telling me that she was going to administer that vaccine. When I declined again the vet started arguing my decision and tried to convince me I was making the wrong decision. Pet owners, unless you like arguing with your vet and being guilt tripped, avoid this vet clinic, especially avoid Kirsten H (Dr Hiles).

My mare was there for five weeks and they promised phone call updates...never happened. I had to call repeatedly to get any information on her progress. They would promise that someone would get back to me, but often no one returned my call. I hate having to nag. If I had another major incident, I would take my horse to the University of Minnesota.

Their prices were the lowest I could find, and the care was exceptional. Every person I saw cared a lot about my cat and was very helpful in answering all of my questions and making sure my cat was feeling comfortable. I was given free cat food for him just because they cared. I was not pressured into buying expensive tests for my sick cat. It was mentioned as an option, but they supported me in the decision for the option to give my cat some medication to see if that helps first. I was showed how to dispense his meds, and I was talked to for almost too long about what to look for and about any concerns I had. I was beyond impressed when I left. My cat was also very comfortable and happy there too (and he is normally very skiddish in new situations). I will definitely go back, and I am so happy I found them!

My dog was LONG overdue for a grooming! He had such a bad experience the last time he was groomed…read morethat my husband and I were a little hesitant to put him through that again. We didn't need to worry with Cassie. She arrived right on time and I prepared her ahead of time about my dog's issues. Two hours later, our dog Larry appeared well groomed and very happy. She took a lot of time dematting him in areas we didn't even realize he had mats. She also filed his nails instead of just clipping them. It was also apparent that she really gained Larry's trust and affection. The only reason I gave her four stars is because the price was significantly higher than I was expecting. I told her we just wanted to trim him, not style him, as shown in the mini-groom package but when she gave me the receipt I was charged the highest amount for a full groom, plus dematting. I was totally okay paying extra for the dematting but was a bit surprised. She said the minigroom only covered a bath not any sort of cutting. This confused me on the website as I thought since I did not want him styled we would be paying the minigroom price. Thankfully she did such an excellent job that it was worth the money we paid, but it might not be something we can do as frequently because of the high cost.
