Barbecue brisket, ribs, good Mexican food, pan dulcé - all of these I've been craving. Well, high on that list is smoked barbacoa. And, to make that, you need "cachete de res" - aka, beef cheeks. So, for 3+ years I looked and looked around here and FINALLY found a source. River's Edge Ranch offers all kinds of great quality meats; beef, lamb, goat, poultry.... and sausages made from their meats. They also have other products from the tallow and suet of their livestock. You can find soaps, lotions, even beard oil! So, when I contacted them about acquiring some beef cheeks, they quickly responded and got me set up. The 3 packages of cheeks I bought were wrapped, frozen and ready for me. The whole purchase process straight-from-the-source was about as easy as it could be. The cheeks I opened were perfect! They were expertly trimmed already, with very little sinew left to remove. I couldn't be happier. The price is only slightly higher than what I would've expected to pay, but I'd gladly pay it again for this level of quality. I can't wait to try some of their other goods!

Their pepperoni guessing game rocks- if you can figure out the cost of your pepperoni "to the penny!" with the hint of what one stick costs, then you get your pepperoni for free! There is a Pepperoni Wall of Fame that you can get your picture taken at and you will have bragging rights to all your friends. The only problem with sharing this stuff is then more people know about this hidden gem, and any time you travel past it to Osoyoos or Kelowna, or Nelson, or wherever... your friends will irrationally demand that you stop and get them $40 worth of meat. I grabbed six of them, but while looking around I noticed they've got way more to offer: SRF wagyu burgers, house-made jerky, marinated meats, plus a great selection of BBQ sauces, rubs, and hot sauces. The butcher was super friendly and helpful, which sealed the deal. No more walking past--this is officially my new go-to spot for meats and rubs in Chelan. My favorite dishes are chilled gazpacho (in the summer), their yummy quiche, and their great Asian soup). If you're not free to lunch there or need provisions for a picnic, they have to-go containers and prepackaged slices of quiche, soup, sandwiches, etc. in the cooler at the back of the store. The Co-op produces bakery goods daily, and I especially like their olive bread. I also visit the Co-op to purchase many difficult to find items, such as specialty cheeses (e.g., fresh mozzarella, Jarlsberg Swiss, aged Irish cheddar, etc.) and imported olives. Seating is limited. There are three tables in the front of the store near the self-serve food service area, and another at the back of the store. Figuring out how the self-service works can take a moment, but the folks that work there are friendly and willing to explain the process. One warning: they don't tag their pastries to show the date they are baked, so ask before purchasing to make sure what you're buying is fresh.
