Don't waste your time here people!!! Used Marti the owner, to make arrangements for a trip to Italy for my husband, myself, and another couple. Needless to say, the whole trip was a complete disaster. From horrible flight issues, to low grade hotel rooms, with no working showers, to finding bugs in the bed, this trip was exhausting and a lot of mental work!!! I could go on and on..... Wanted to let everyone know that working with this company was just not a good experience. I'd say, save yourself the headache and book your own trip or better yet, find another agent!!! I rarely use travel agents, as I'm well-versed on finding & booking travel on the web, and I've yet to see any real "package savings" using an agent. However, for a friend's milestone birthday celebration, I was pressed for time and felt the need to resort to a travel agent. I found Anderson Travel on the internet and chose them because they purported to being experts in the South Pacific (original destination intended) and Hawaii (actual destination). Terry, my agent, was only moderately helpful in the booking process. Mostly she didn't really bother to get to know me and my preferences and so couldn't make any informed recommendations. She actually gave me too many choices, all of which I had to look up on the internet in order to make a decision, which I could have done on my own in the first place if I had the time. We went to three islands, and her recommendation for condo rental on Maui was spot-on. We stayed at the Maui Hill (ResortQuest, I believe), which was great. After that, everything went down hill. She incorrectly printed our connecting flight times to The Big Island, so we ended up missing our flight. Our splurge resort there, which Terry highly touted, was a complete disaster. Kona Village was a superb location with lovely hales, and truly horrid service. We even had to call Anderson Travel while there in order to resolve an issue with a dinner reservation, of all things. In Kauai, I requested something a bit cheaper to offset the cost of Kona Village. Mind you, Terry did stress that we'd feel a big step down after Kona Village, but we're used to staying in a variety of types of quality lodging, so we weren't concerned. Unfortunately, Terry's recommendation, The Best Western Plantation Hale, was perhaps the worst hotel I've ever seen at over $100/night. The room was very dusty and musty - the windows clearly hadn't been opened in years - the furniture was essentially plastic, the unit hadn't been remodeled since it was built in the 60s, and the bedroom and deck faced on a busy road so was very noisy. We literally checked in, used the phone long enough to locate another place, and checked out. The place we found in Poipu, across from the beach, was gorgeous and not that much more than the Plantation Hale. When we returned and had to deal with Terry for our refunds on unused hotel and tour, and the issues with Kona Village, she was extremely UNhelpful. She was happy enough to take our money, at almost $5k/person for the trip, but she couldn't even tell us how much our refund would be. She indicated she was "not privvy to that information." She did nothing to sort the issues with Kona Village and generally acted like she just wanted to get us out of her hair. Needless to say, if I'm ever pressed to use a travel agent again, it won't be Anderson Travel. read more

Sabine, took us thru all our options. She found services and people to help us thru the entire trip. We are now getting booking our next trip with her. We went to England and Ireland and it was perfect, great area and hotel in London for week 1 then great bus tour in Ireland. I will never stop thinking about the wonderful trip. We used Anderson Travel to make our Paris honeymoon plans in 2014. The lady, I can't remember her name, was very pleasant and helpful. She helped us choose our destination, sat and chatted with us about what we wanted, and made it all happen very smoothly. We were specific about what we wanted. We didn't want our entire trip planned out. She got us our flights, hotel, and passes for traveling around town via bus and metro. We used Viator.com to schedule the activities while we were there. We have been using Anderson Travel for about eleven years. Even with the ease of using the internet to find and book travel, we find Marty and Terry extremely heipful in finding and making our reservations. They attend to all the details of travel arrangement, costs, travel insurance, and whatever we ask for. As we have grown older, they have more than met our changing needs. They have suggested arrangement to ease our travel experience. We love cruising. Terry has always found us the right cruise, the best price and attended to all details including flight arrangements, transfers, all necessary documents, (and reminded us to bring our passports!) to make our trip a pleasant experience. We have never traveled to Gig Harbor to deal with Anderson Travel. We have always been adequately served without leaving home. And if we need to meet, they will arrange to meet us at a place convenient to us. Recenty, Terry arranged a trip to Alaska for my sister who lives in Chicago! All went well including a stop over in Seattle so we could visit with her. We have traveled all over the world on land and sea. They have had to cancel trips for us when one of us became ill and unable to travel. They did this more than once, and we received all appropriate refunds in a timely manner. We have had few hassles during our journeys, but they were not the fault of Anderson Travel, and Terry or Marty often intervened to help with a remedy or a change. What else can I say. As the editor of the travel guide Best Places Northwest, I have used Anderson Travel dozens of times for travel needs, particularly in Canada,but also Hawaii and Mexico. Not only are Terry and Marti extremely experienced but incredibly professional. One of the best tips they have given me is to always get travel insurance no matter how short the flight. Recently, I ignored this advice (short flight didn't think it really mattered): So I got stranded in Phoenix after a haboob momentarily shut the airport down and US Airways, who I had flown with, refused to accommodate any of the passengers on their flights with immediate rebooks. They herded us into lines in front of their counters. I had just hiked out of the Grand Canyon on five hours of sleep and was physically wasted. As I stood there, I called Anderson Travel and they walked me through what to do (get out of the mile long line, call the airline directly on my cell, and bite the bullet and get a room at a nearby hotel before everyone else in that line tried to do the same thing, and then get my butt back to the airport at the crack of dawn). I was resistant but I followed through and even though I couldn't use my ticket on USAIR that I paid for, I was able to get a flight out first thing in the morning on Alaska, which sure beat the options being presented by the inept USAIRWAY rep who came down the line and handed out cards telling us to call a number to get a discounted room and then told us it could be two days before we would be able to fly out because of the major "weather" disruption. The hotels their customer service affiliate were offering as discounted were not discounted at all. I found a cheaper one on my own and took a shuttle to it. And Alaska was more than happy to book me using my frequent flier miles at the super saver level (normally a last minute flight requires quadruple miles) when I explained my situtation (a child at home who needed me to get there that day not the next), another tip I got from Anderson Travel. So now, I ALWAYS spend a few extra $ and get the insurance (yeah that insurance is a racket onto itself) but better safe than stranded when you travel. Had I had it, I could have gotten on an Alaska flight that night and been reimbursed for that flight and the US Airway flight. Terry is a genius when it comes to Hawaii and Mexico destinations. I have never had one issue with the hotels she has recommended (and she's not afraid to tell you when activities or the accommodations I was pushing for were a bad choice). Some people might interpret Terry as being a little too direct because she can be brutal in steering you in the right direction, but this honesty and integrity is such a relief in the travel industry. And it's one of the reasons Anderson Travel is still around after the airline industry has done it's damnedest to decimate so many travel agencies.
