This driving school is a masterclass in how to make a stressful process even worse. The office staff are supremely unhelpful, condescending, and shockingly lazy. It feels as though they go out of their way to ensure that teenagers and their parents struggle unnecessarily. Communication is virtually nonexistent, and when you do get through, the tone is dismissive and arrogant, as if asking a simple question about scheduling or requirements is an outrageous imposition. Their class sign-up system is confusing and poorly managed, with no guidance offered to help navigate it. Every interaction leaves you with the distinct impression that they take pride in being as unaccommodating as possible. My daughter's peers, who attended other driving schools, had smooth and straightforward experiences. By contrast, every step with this school has been an exercise in frustration. One Star - strictly for the organization, communication, and office staff. The actual driving instructors were wonderful. Parents, save yourself the headache and choose literally any other school. I am so disappointed with this company. My oldest son took his driving classes here in 2021 and it wasn't great, but it was fine. My second son completed his classes early in the summer and hasn't been able to get a driving lesson scheduled. Not one! The prices went up to $1000 and we were told to look online to book the driving hours, but every date/time has been blocked off already. The months are added their website already full. I have called numerous times and have been told to keep checking, things open up- for three months there hasn't been one spot available. Yesterday, we were told to email them and they fit him in to one driving hour in the middle of October. One class. I will not sign my third son up at this driving school. read more

Critical update, please see below... Update: After my previous 2-star review (which I felt was fair,) the owner "Bill" replied through Yelp and felt personally insulting my wife was an appropriate way for a business to respond. See attached screenshot. It is...unreal. The owner literally replied to my review with: "...your mother was a 'you know what' enough said." You can see by his choice to personally insult my wife via Yelp that ownership/management is as irresponsible and unprofessional as they are unreliable. This was supposed to be one of the most exciting moments in my child's life, and it was instead consistently marred by this type of behavior. I don't expect a Fortune-500 level organization - it's a local driving school. But I strongly encourage you to consider this kind of sad behavior when considering where to commit your time and money for such an important moment in your Childs life. Original Post: New ownership can't be bothered to follow through and pushes work back on the young person and their family. The final part of the agreement with the company is that they provide the driving test, but the owner Bill totally dropped the ball and forgot to schedule it - even though we reached out weeks in advance. Then he refused to make up for the error saying we just needed to take care of it ourselves - despite part of the fee is actually providing the driving test. It's too bad. Do yourself a favor and do NOT sign your kid up at Anderson Driving school. Attempting to sign up for the in-person driving hours is practically a full-time job. I think their website was built in 2001....It's sign-up process is so cumbersome and nonuser-friendly as to be essentially useless. You call the office for help and are told that only the owner Bill can help you. I emailed the address they gave me for him, requesting help three separate times and got no response. Their 'road test' addition a scam. They are not forthright in telling you that the $140 CASH-ONLY that you deliver to them does NOT actually cover the driving test fee. No where on their website do they say this and no where in their communication about the road test do they state it. It is literally called the road test "driving test fee." You then you still have to pay the additional $85 directly to the RMV. What do you get from Anderson for $140? A five minute 'review' lesson right before the test and the ability to take the test AT their facility rather than the RMV. They moved our test from a Saturday to a school day and told me there was nothing they could do about it and would not give me my money back. Do yourself a favor and just go to the RMV. read more

I have recorded zooms to be posted on this mater. For 900 bucks this is a scam.....then they charge on to of the drivers Ed fee an additional $ 189.00 . A Registry officer shows up at their location (AD in Framingham) instead of scheduling with RMV directly and not shelling out 189 bucks plus the license fee. Does this not sound suspect? Other children and parents have the same complaints. I am filing a complaint with the Attorney Generals office in Boston of the suspect actions and behavior of Anderson Driving School. Something must be done about this scam. Because it involves the RMV the Attorney General is interested in investigating. More people with complaints will help the cause for extinguishing this scam. Anderson's will give you a quality drivers education. According to ranking done by mass dot, Anderson's is in the top driving schools in the state. The classroom instruction is great. I did mine with Rich Bergman. Rich is very knowledgeable and funny. His classroom really prepared me for the road. Outside of the classroom Anderson's really cares about you passing your road test. They will give you clear ways to parallel park, three point turn and hill park. I did classes with Eric, Rich and Lima. They were all great. Eric is awesome, he's a very nice guy. The front desk is awesome, Linda is an angel. She is very helpful and will guide you through everything, no problem. With a couple hundred students it might be hard to schedule lessons but that is very typical with the demand for driving schools. read more

Hi Team, I was paid 3 hrs of driving class and started the first day today but the instructor gave only 35 mins and saying that you don't know the driving. My wife is new to driving and she doesn't drive before. If she is driving then why should I pay the amount to Anderson Driving School? Moreover, Instructor asks my wife to do 3 point turn. She doesn't know steering control and how she can do all. Once again I am asking the team - Don't expect day one can fresher do all the tasks in your checklist. read more

Worst experience ever. This place is terrible. They expect students to be as good as experienced adults are without even teaching them properly. They have no patience at all and make students feel really bad about themselves. My daughter got home extremely frustrated many times and not even talking to the school owner was helpful. The instructors are not respectful towards the students that are facing an incredibly crucial time of their lives or their parents that are paying over 800 dollars for their child to be disrespected and have no desire for driving anymore. I started my lessons with Anderson's Driving School in the latter part of February, 2019 until my lessons were cut short due to CoVID-19. I am 29, and have never driven in my life. What was supposed to be a milestone and a fun experience, turned out to be a harrowing experience for me. My first class was with an instructor named Rich. Let alone the fact that I had never driven before, on my first day Rich took me out on the main roads of Framingham, when I literally felt that I should be driving on neighborhood streets. Needless to say, I made many mistakes, and instead of being patient with me, as it was my first day, Rich was very mean and condescending. As it is, I was sceptical of driving - I had put it off for so long, his demeanor and aggressive attitude made me lose even more confidence in myself. In subsequent lessons, he would cuss and abuse, and would rudely slam the brakes on his side, even for petty things such as driving close to the yellow line, or not reversing in a straight line, even though the car was nowhere near the curb or any other car. During my time learning with Rich, I had come to know from another source that he had previously slapped a student. Fortunately for me, I had only done 6 classes, when CoVID-19 was enforced upon us. After the resumption of my driving classes, I was pleasantly greeted with the news that Rich had been fired. The new instructor, Nick (Mr. B) has been awesome to work with. He is calm, composed and the effect is that even after a long hiatus, I am driving well and Nick's attitude has been a positive influence on my confidence. I am hopeful that Anderson Driving School can breathe a sigh of relief after firing Rich, and hopefully after all this, everything will look bright and on the up. read more

My family lives in one of the adjacent neighborhoods to Anderson's Driving School. Our roads are wide and usually a great place for students to learn. However, this week a new student was parked alongside a home with the motor running over 20 minutes. This was during approximately the 3:00-3:30 pm school pick up by parents on corner of Water and Swanson. As it gets busy and drivers tend to need to head on their way; many get frustrated if idling vehicle is not using hazard lights or indicator -letting other drivers know said vehicle is no longer in traffic flow. My husband very politely approached vehicle and suggested to Anderson school vehicle, perhaps hazard lights may be a safer way of sitting in a heavy traffic area. Teacher rudely told husband that he doesn't teach that. Being parent of young adult drivers and seeing children walk home on that side of street, I called school to suggest at least use indicator for safety. My call was purely based on safety of human beings. Anyone driving in MA these days has come to realize the impatience of drivers not knowing what vehicle ahead is planning to do. Most have been spoken to by other drivers for "lack of courtesy" or worse yet road rage. Our volume on roadways has increased, thus the increased possibility of an accident. My call to the school was simply one to request safety for school age children and teaching young drivers a safe way to pull over without getting injured- nothing more! I believe as parents, our children are our most valued concern and it is our responsibility to keep them safe. Upon my call to the school, I mentioned using indicator after husband's request denied and was verbally abused by staff member. I did not remain on the telephone as her screaming was no cogent solution to a safety issue. Thereby didn't receive her name. I emailed the school with my address and email to indicate safety concern and was BARRAGED with at least four different emails containing abusive, ageist and vulgar language. Before Anderson's denies, person wasn't intelligent enough not to use company IP address. I emailed copies of emails to indicated as owner- llib@aol.com address. I received no response. IF I WERE A PARENT CONCERNED WITH PROPER SAFETY TECHNIQUE AND PROFESSIONALISM -PLEASE FIND ALTERNATE DRIVING SCHOOL. AT LEAST ONE THAT MAY KEEP YOUR CHILD ALIVE. WE DO TAKE OUR CHILDREN OUT DRIVING AS MANDATED BY RMW; SO OUR MOMENT IS THERE FOR MISGUIDED INSTRUCTION TO BE CORRECTED. PARENTS, HOWEVER DO NOT NEED TO BE VERBALLY ABUSED BY TELEPHONE STAFF. IN THE EVENT THIS EMAIL ASSAULT IS DENIED, COPIES ARE PASTED ON ANDERSON'S FACEBOOK PAGE. ALSO, THE COPIES OF ABUSIVE EMPLOYEE'S EMAILS AS WELL AS THOSE SENT TO AOL ADDRESS WERE GIVEN TO FPD. I CERTAINLY WILL BE AMENABLE TO MAKING AVAILABLE TO ANY PARENT!! I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT THE FATHER WHO POSTED THAT HIS SON'S MOTHER WAS CALLED AN EXTREMELY DEROGATORY TERM WAS IN FACT STATING THE TRUTH. I just passed my road test a few days ago, thanks to Anderson's Driving School! Overall, I had a really great experience here. Although the school was closed due to COVID-19 when I took the classroom portion, they were able to accommodate and teach through Zoom. I had Bill and James for the majority of my driving lessons, and not only did they ensure that I was well-prepared, but they made the lessons very enjoyable, too. Any time that we had to call the office with a question, the receptionists were very friendly and helpful. The owner, Bill, was also extremely kind and helpful throughout the entire process. It was very convenient to be able to take the road test here, rather than having to go to the RMV. They even take you on a warm-up drive before your test, which eased my nerves and made me feel more confident. I would definitely recommend this driving school to anyone hoping to get their license! read more

So, the school itself is great. The majority of the staff are pretty nice. They are very well organized with their presentations and although they are boring, the presentations get the point across. However, the only issue I have with the school is one of the instructors, Rich. On my first lesson, I made the mistake of scheduling it with Rich, as he taught driver's ed and I wanted my first lesson to be with a familiar face. However, once I told him it was my first lesson and I hadn't gone out in the car much at all, he started me off by going on the main road outside my high school immediately. I mean, he could obviously see that I didn't know what I was doing from the fact that I could barely control the car out of the parking lot. But, what really surprised me was that once we got to neighborhood roads, after I made many mistakes on the road he put me on idiotically, he made me pull over and told me that the lesson was over and that I was a horrible listener. Now, I completely understand that the mistakes made were my own but, I was 16 yrs old, beginning my junior year, and very shy, and he could see the disappointment in myself at the time that I couldn't do the simplest movements with the car. I now however have found the courage to admit my experience because I don't want another kid who just wants to learn to drive carefully and respectfully to ever make the mistake of going to Rich for a first lesson. The lesson itself was one of the scariest experiences of my life. After the lesson, I was depressed for a couple days and I couldn't even think about getting into a car for at least two weeks. Along with myself, Rich has made a reputation among the students at my high school for being a loud and crass instructor. Driving is a milestone in a kid's life, a time to be excited but, careful for what comes next in his or her life. Rich needs to reevaluate his teaching style and start showing a little more respect to the kids of hard-working parents who are paying over $700 for a man to scream at their kids. I am not a student of the school but I live in the neighborhood. The drivers are always bringing students on my street and in front of my house. I try try to be respectful and patient but do not feel I get the same from the teachers. They have many times beeped at me while I wait at the intersections for my turn to move in a safe manner and have many times gestured to me with impatience and rudeness. I am glad my children are already out of drivers ed. We need to teach road manners as well as safety to our new drivers. read more

Their front office staff (JAIME is WONDERFUL!) is top notch, and won't hesitate to answer each silly question; painstakingly work out a schedule for driving/observation for your child; or just plain be helpful and informative. Personally, I remember falling ASLEEP during my own stint in Driver's ed at my high school, but when I took the Parent's class with Bill Anderson, I learned more than a few useful things about driving that I never knew. I highly recommend Anderson's Driving School. I had the best of experiences with my instructor Lima who helped me immensely. As an adult learner, I had been dealt for years with anxiety and trauma about driving and Lima's classes helped me overcome a long time personal fear. His non-judgmental and always-positive approach gave me confidence and I passed my first road test a week ago at the age of 38, a great achievement made possible by a great instructor. My daughter just got her license through Anderson's. She had to stop driving lessons in the middle due to a medical issue, but the school worked with us on getting her back on track when she was ready. Anytime I had a question and called the office, the lady who answered the phone was always very helpful and polite. My daughter loved her instructor, Lima, and felt that his teaching method was very encouraging and not intimidating. In fact, she requested Lima for all her driving lessons. I was just informed tonight that my driving instructor Mr.B has resigned. Quite a shame I was so excited to finish my hours with him. When Andersons re-opened after Covid-19, Rich was no longer there and I scheduled with a new instructor. His name was Mr.B. He was the sweetest guy I've ever met. He never yelled at me or made me feel nervous like rich did. He cared about his students. He'd call me if he ever had a spot open up because he knew I needed hours. In fact this morning he reached out to me. I ended up doing a double with him, which would mean that after my lesson on Friday, my hours were finished. Mr.B did this for me, on his day off he came in and worked. The last thing he said to me as I got out of the car today was "Good work today. I'll see you tomorrow". Little did I know what was to come. I'm going to miss him. He was who I scheduled all my lessons with. So sad that I won't be finishing my requirements with him. It was absolutely horrible having to sit for 6 hours (in two portions) for five days straight on things that we're probably never going to use because the situations explained by the teacher are literally worst case scenarios. Don't even get me started on Rich. Rich is a coffee bellied fatso of an instructor that doesn't know how to teach. He knows how to drive, I'll say that, but he doesn't know how to make people comfortable either when in the car watching other drivers to learn from their mistakes or when behind the wheel. He's also racist; I can recall a comment he made about Indians and (paraphrasing) their "lack" of ability to drive since their country doesn't have laws about the road or developed roads. He's also very rude, making discriminate comments to the learning driver to make them feel bad about themselves. Hey, this is the 21st century; telling bad comments to someone to make the listener prove themselves doesn't work anymore. Several times, I can recall him grabbing the wheel when we weren't in danger, stopping suddenly because I didn't look "enough" (3 seconds isn't "enough?"), and yelling at an increasing volume until my ears hurt at me to do something that was required WHILE I was doing it. He's also insensitive to the fact that not everyone has the same circumstances of driving. At the time that I had lessons, my parents were both working from the morning until around 3, and I could only drive their car to get to swim practice through the highway. This means that I was adept at driving in the highway, but not so much in the suburbs. Despite me telling him that, he said that I "needed to make more time." But when do I have another car readily available to practice? By the time of my last lesson, I threw a fit: I was driving at 25 mph, but he kept on telling me to increase the speed to around 30 mph. I got angry by the fact that he kept on telling me this, so I floored the pedal. Of course, he got mad and pressed the break on his own side, and told me not to speed like a maniac. I shrieked at him telling him to not tell me do change what I'm doing if I'm not doing anything illegal. This shocked the boy who was one year younger than me that was watching me drive. Word enough don't express how much I hate this school and that fact that this Kremlin works here. This is a horrible school. Don't attend it. You're better off teaching your own child how to drive. I wish there was a "zero-star" opinion. read more

To date I have had two lessons with Anderson's Driving School and I can confidently say that I will not be continuing. As an adult learner who works full time, I have found it extremely hard to schedule classes given the high percentage of high school students that are accommodated for drivers ed. programs. For my first lesson, I was fortunate to have a weekend class and it was spent familiarizing me with the car and rules of road. For this reason, I only spent 15 minutes driving the car with my instructor, Rich. Given limited availability, my second lesson was scheduled for 4:45PM on a weeknight several weeks later. While I thought that we would practice more within my housing complex given our limited driving time, we immediately proceeded to drive on main streets in Natick during rush hour traffic. Rich seemed to take issue with the fact that I had not practiced driving between lessons - a point that I find unfair considering that not everyone readily has access to a car to practice in. As we were driving, his tone was consistently rude and continued to make comments regarding having to correct my positioning in the lane given that I had not gone driving. I am a paying customer who is learning how to drive from him therefore I feel that this is part of his job and comments like this were unnecessary. On several occasions he grabbed the wheel to help guide me through turns but repeatedly grabbed the top of the steering wheel. When I moved my hand, he would very rudely tell me to use the 10 and 2 position. I understand that some individuals have strong personalities but rudeness is not necessary or appreciated. Upon completion of my lesson, he accused my partner of being materialistic given the brand of his car for not taking me driving. Not only was this assumptive and offensive but he does not know our schedules or availability. I understand that this school is not making as much money off of me as a teenage driver however I expect the same level of customer service and respect. read more

Overall not bad prep for decent classroom and driving experience prior to obtaining license. My teen commented on the boring nature of the classroom component, which I discounted when remembering how bored I was at same age sitting through driver's ed. Had to agree somewhat though, after taking the parental class (required for under 18 students) I felt the style of presentation - let's just say there is a large generation gap - could easily put off students who ought to be more forgiving, but such is the nature of the age group. Using a VCR to present video instruction kind of sums up the overall feeling that things are outdated. That said, the personnel seem very competent, and I always found the people very helpful whenever I called with questions about the not uncomplicated RMV process. One final note, they offer a school facilitated "driving test package" whereby a license applicant can take the driving test at the school, under the guidance of one of the school's instructors (an RMV rep. comes out to actually administer the test). We thought this might be more convenient and increase odds of passing so we opted for it. At $140, the fee seems far too excessive for what is provided (some hand holding, convenience of not having to travel to an RMV office). The overall instruction package cost is steep (although I suppose you get what you pay for) but this last expense, while optional, feels like a last ditch effort to extract dollars from your wallet. read more
