I was charged $250 for a 'service call' which amounted to 10 minutes of their technician telling me my unit wasn't worth repairing. There was no actual diagnostic work performed at any point other than me turning the unit on to demonstrate the problem. I paid Anderson Air for a service call which I was old would include a technician coming to my home to diagnose the problem and provide an estimate for the repair with the $250 service call charge going towards the repair (assuming I was to proceed with the recommended repairs.)
Instead what happened...during the brief 10 minute visit, the technician repeatedly emphasized how old the unit was (it's 12 years old), how split AC systems "aren't designed to last more than 10 years," that "no parts are available," and that it "wasn't worth repairing." He recommended replacing it and said it was probably only around $6,000 and any repair would be thousands. He even went so far as to say I shouldn't bother even cleaning it because that "would cost $700 for two techs and isn't worth it either."
I've been in sales for 35 years and have worked with some of the wealthiest clients in the world and I can tell you that a company with true integrity would never charge for a call like this. A reputable company would ask questions before scheduling to understand the situation, rather than taking $250 for what amounted to a quick, 10 minute sales pitch.
When I called to schedule, I was reassured the technician would "take care of everything." Being a local company I had faith they would be fair and reasonable, but unfortunately, that couldn't have been further from the truth. read more
