Stayed there over a weekend for my 50th high school reunion. This motel has been in the hands of the Eccher family for several decades. Now run by Bruce and Nicole, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The room was extremely clean, likewise the bathroom. Bed was super-comfortable and the Air Conditioning did it's job excellently. Had a very nice large screen television with Roku. All in all, I would give it six out of five stars. And the price was very affordable. I think I'll stay there again next time I visit my old home town. read more

We stayed with them in early May. Convenient, and across from a restaurant. Coffee in the room. Reasonable rates and offered a discount - even though there's not much to select from. Although dated it was surprisingly clean. Wanting to stay another weekend shortly after, we thought it'd be nice to give them 'repeat' business... the owners seem nice enough. Good luck reaching them. They can't be bothered to answer the phone, reply to emails, or respond to voicemails. They must not want more business. Sadly, we were forced to look elsewhere. read more

I highly recommend Anchor Motel! My friend and I stayed at the Anchor Motel before heading into the mountains to elk hunt this September. I had brought hundreds of dollars in cash to purchase my hunting tag and accidentally left the remainder of the cash in the motel room when we checked out. Not realizing it until a week later when I got back to Texas, I called the motel to see if they had it. I was shocked when Nichole told me the maids had found it and turned it in to her and she had been keeping it safe until I called. She then proceeded to mail me my cash! I was so impressed by the honesty and decency of Nichole and the rest of her staff. So many places would have just pocketed hundreds of dollars in cash if they found it in a check out motel room. We will be staying at Anchor Motel anytime we go through Walsenburg from now on. read more

As explained by previous reviewers, this place though cheap ($50 in June 2015), is quite dated but fortunately clean. It might as well be your only local reasonable choice within the 30 miles radius of night accommodations. read more

We got stranded overnight in this town and this was the nearest motel within walking distance. The hotel itself looks a little sketchy on the outside but the inside was very clean! It looks a little outdated when you first enter but after looking around this motel is very well kept. The bathroom is beautiful with what looked like new flooring and appliances. My only complaint was that the bathtub/shower looked like it had stains from being used so much. The beds were comfy and they provided coffee for us in the room. There was also a fridge and microwave. The color TV also provided plenty of channels for us to watch. I would love to stay here again in the future, but maybe in better circumstances! Checkout was painless as you just dropped the key in a box at the front. read more

May seem like a regular old motel, but the Anchor is great. The room was very cozy and clean and the management was incredibly nice. My friend and I got stuck in Galsenburg for about 2 days when our car broke down on a road trip, and the folks at the Anchor took great care of us. They were attentive and helped us out when we were stranded and the room was much cheaper than staying at a bigger name hotel/motel. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are ever in Galsenburg! read more

Corner of 10th & Main St. Stayed here for two days, and enjoyed it very much. Small, quiet, low priced room came complete with a small upright corner mounter flat screen tv, and appeared to be all remodeled inside. Free WiFi worked very good from inside the room. Single room price was very reasonable, and for you to find out the prices-call, lol. Very nice staff working here also. A great low priced place to stay. If only there was a pool, and hot tub, for a five star rating. read more

Drove 2,300 miles across the country & this was the worst hotel of my trip. First they have the AAA sign out & on their card but they do not honor AAA discount. The towels were very thin & had holes. I've never seen such tiny soaps in my life! And i've driven from coast to coast 5 times in my life. still never saw soaps that tiny. Thank God I had my own towels, soaps & my own bedding. It was so dingy & dirty that I slept on top of the bed & used my own sheets. The flat surface by the bed was filthy & I cleaned it myself . I also wore slippers & threw them out after I left this place. Plan ahead and try to stay elsewhere or drive on to the next town. Colorado is beautiful but ill pass on this place again. This little roadside motel is 5-stars (for a small, roadside motel with free wi-fi that only charges $38.50/night). I had a great, clean room with a big bathroom. The decor was dated, but the bed was clean and comfy! The owners (manager?) live onsite and were very friendly! I took the last room they had for the night and am glad I did! read more

The outside looked sketchy as hell but don't judge it by the run down vintage look, the rooms are clean and comfortable on top of being relatively cheap ($77) The owner was super nice and showed us 2 rooms prior to us agreeing to stay. Maybe they've remodeled recently judging by previous reviews but the room had what looked like new furniture and new appliances. Pretty sure the sink in the huge bathroom was new too. We had a quiet night and the bed was one of the best I slept in on our trip. Would definitely stay here again. read more

After a busy and tiring weekend taking care of my Grandmother who has been ill, My mother and Father recently chose to stay at this hotel as they were passing through Walsenburg. My Father went in and paid for a room as my Mother waited in the car. He got a key and went to their room. First of all, my mother said the room smelled as if something had died in there. The room had run-down old as dirt decor. My mom had to send my father to the store for some febreze ASAP. While at the store, my mom gets a call from their cousin who lives there in Walsenburg. He offers for them to come stay with him for the night. Because my mom wasn't too comfortable with staying in this old, smelly foul motel, she took her cousin up on the offer. My mom walks over to the check in office and politely explains to the male owner that she would like to cancel her stay and get a refund. Now it has now been a total of 20min from the time they checked in. The male owner did not seem too happy. He then asks my mom if anything was used in the room. My mom says no, and explains that they just changed their mind and decided to go stay with a cousin. The male owner irritatingly tells my mom that he must go check the room before he can refund her $. He walks in the room and see's my mom's dog's water bowl. My parents do have a miniature dachshund. Upon checkin, my dad forgot to mention that they did have a small dog with them. Since my mom did not go into the office to pay for the room with my dad, she was unaware that the owner wasn't told. The owner begins yelling, accusing my mom of being a LIAR. Ranting and raving about my parents being nothing but no good liars. My mom was stunned and quite frankly confused. Lying about what? The owner tells my mom she is a liar because she failed to mention they had a dog. At that time the owners wife comes in the room and also see's the dog bowl. She also starts calling my mom a liar!! My mom, being the kind hearted, honest christian woman that she is, demands they stop calling her a liar. She then calls my dad and tells him whats unfolding and to get back right away. My mom apologizes to the owners and figures out that it was all a misunderstanding. She tries explaining that both my mom and dad have had a very rough and tiring weekend and my dad must have forgotten to mention that they did have a dog. The owner tells her that he is now unsure if she even deserves a refund because she is a liar! My dad gets back and apologizes to the owner about the honest slip up. The owner and his wife continue to badger my parents , calling them liars and no goods. The owner hands my dad a partial refund. He then tells my dad that he should have just kept all of his $. My dad just shrugs off the remark, when the owner threatens to come and physically take the $ back from my dad. My dad walks out and leaves. 2 WORDS...RUDE! PSYCHO! While searching in desperation for a room during a rainstorm, we called the Anchor Motel (having not yet seen it) and asked about vacancies. A woman told us they had one room left and it was $70. We arrived a few minutes later and the guy at the desk said it was $90. When I saw the room, I thought even $70 would have been too much. The old, worn, cheap furnishings looked to be from the early 1970s. Although the carpet was dark, it was easy to see the stains all over it. I pulled off the nasty old bedspread and blanket and was hoping the sheets would at least be clean, but there was a long hair on the bottom sheet. It could have been from whoever changed the sheets, or maybe they hadn't been changed since the last guest. So I spread out towels on the bed to lie on and slept in my clothes. The sagging mattress was extremely uncomfortable, and after a sleepless night, I got up with a backache. While loading the car, I noticed a man loitering closeby and watching. I went back into the room to get something else. That was the only time the car was left unlocked, and I discovered later that day the creep had stolen something from our glove box. Sleeping on a park bench in the rainstorm would have been better than staying at the Anchor Motel, even if I had been arrested. The jail cell is probably cleaner and more comfortable. read more

My husband and I came from Denver and went to Walsenburg while looking for a house in the area to buy. We pulled into the Anchor Motel after a full day of driving and scouting for a potential purchase. I went into the office and spoke with a blond haired woman. She told me that the only room she had was a smoking room for $77 plus tax. She told me no dogs and no cats were allowed. I told her that I had my service dog and she told me that I had to produce paperwork stating that he was my service dog. I explained to this woman that I did not have to have papers, and that I had a copy of the federal law if she wanted to see it. She told me that she knew the law and that I had to have papers. This woman became confrontational and rude and it was at that point that she told me that I could leave. I told her that it was her right to refuse service and left. Not only did she attempt to chastise me, she did it in front of another man. I then went to the Best Western at 457 US Hwy 85 87, 719-738-1121 in Walsenburg. The staff was more than accommodating to me, my husband and our SERVICE DOG!!!!! Just so you know Anchor Motel, you are in violation of FEDERAL LAW, and expect to be hearing from a host of people that will educate you on the law. read more
