My wife and I ordered Portabella mushroom appetizer, veggie tacos, and brisket tacos. Took a little bit to get our food, not a problem they were busy. The server was kind. When the food finally arrived the brisket tacos were ice cold. Literally ice cold. The server fingered my brisket taco and he agreed. Busy for a Friday night and we can tell it is hopping when the weather is good. It must be a lot of fun with the outdoor seating, boat slips, and concert area. When we went, it was 45 degrees so none of that was happening. Go there for the drinks and unique entertainment (eg there is Midget wrestling on 5/19). I ordered the prime rib sandwich expecting a large sub sandwich with prime rib and said got mediocre roast beef with sautéed peppers and dipping sauce. Traveling through the area and looking for a place for dinner. Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. The place was reasonably crowded but it seemed like they had enough waitstaff to handle the people who were there. We were seated and approached quickly for a drink order which also came out quickly. We ordered a family simple item to share - a plate of nachos. It took a good hour to get our order while a number of tables around us were getting their food well before we did. The waitress finally brought out an order and set it down in front of us and it was not anywhere near what we had ordered. So she took it away and it was another 20 minutes before we actually got what we ordered. It was miserable. I will say the the food was good once we got it but the wait and false start left us pretty disgusted. Bottom line - the food is decent - the service is pretty bad. A side story... while we were waiting for our food, another waitress was delivering food to a table next to us. She obviously had a number of orders of chicken wings which she was trying to figure out who they belonged to. She actually lifted the plate directly up to her nose to apparently smell the food. She did this about three times. I had never, in all my years, seen a waitress actually put her nose into a plate and then serve that plate to the customer. Eeeeeewww! I live near & have been into The Anchor a dozen times. Each time I'm disappointed. From: breakfast buffet that is empty & you have to wait for them to fill it to week night dinners with the family where they don't have 1/2 the menu items, it's poorly prepared, & +$100 for a family of four to special events where they are understaffed & you're going to wait forever to get a drink. If you like live music & being thirsty then you'll enjoy yourself. Wetbottoms across the river or Lakeview is much better staffed & worth the drive. read more

It took 20 minutes for our drinks to be delivered and 40 minutes for our appetizer. 5 or 6 people got their food before us and they came in 20 minutes or more after us. I should know better than to not rely on the comments of yelpers. Great day yesterday for a ride. Great spot if only the service, food and drink were worth the trip. Two stars solely for location. Ordered a drink from the menu, don't Have what they need to make it. Ordered another (off the menu). Same. Ordered fried pickles. Out. Ordered sandwich which should have been Turkey and ham. Not a shred of Turkey and half, if I'm lucky, piece of lunch meat ham. Never brought the app cheese curds we ordered in place of pickles but they brought them as a side with my sad sandwich. They did bring out the side of fries that do come with a sandwich. I pointed out the sad sandwich and they offered to remake but then I'd be waiting while other stuff got cold. I opened sandwich and showed them and pointed to what I ordered on menu and just said it was definitely not as listed on menu. It ended up to be a sad rendition of a BLT panini with a half slice of ham. Now I understand I declined their offer to remake, but they should have made it correct the first time. This place just became one of my favorite eateries and pubs in southern Wisconsin!!! I cannot say enough great things. The food was delicious. So say this was one of the best meals I've had in the Midwest would be in keeping with an honest, no-nononsense assessment. The fries were perfectly cooked, seasoned, served hot and not ladened with oil or grease. Simply, perfectly served. As for the prime rib sandwich, think or what a.philly cheese steak would look and tasre like in the perfect world..or better yet, in a world beyond. This sandwich tastes as if it were made made with be best portions of a tender, juicy prime rib roased to perfection, the slice shaved into a sandwich offering that is nothing short of a party on your tongue and leaves a smile on your face l and audible "Mmmm's" escaping you mouth in every single bite. As for service, I placed my order and this was plated and in front of me within 7 minutes!!! Yes SEVEN MINUTES !!! And it was impeccably presented (see picture). The sweet aroma already had my mouth watering, but on first bite it was nothing short of love. Who woukd have "thunk" a place like this in a small town in Wisconsin could have such a culinary masterpiece, and with the special pricing of under $10. Flatlanders looking for a quick bite on their road trip north would do well to drive just one more mile off the Edgerton Exit over to The Anchor. A few cars of us and our dogs were heading to a family reunion last weekend and we took a chance that The Anchor would have outdoor dining and allow our dogs to visit too. They did! They asked us to stay on the patio in case any accidents occurred and they brought fresh water and a treat for them too. Their outdoor space is huge with a covered porch, umbrellaed patio and shady picnic grove along the riverside. They also have a boat launch, dock and several pontoon boats available for rent. The food was ample and delicious and the service was fast and friendly. If we're ever in the neighborhood again, we'll definitely be stopping by The Anchor. read more

Where do I start... one the watermelon lemonade drinks are awesome. Make sure you drink as many as possible before your food arrives. Because you will be disappointed. Do not panic, you'll have plenty of time to rethink your order regardless since the food orders will all be wrong. Try to not order anything complicated. Shrimp tacos? Don't even think about it, not sure they know actual shrimp must be involved in "shrimp" Tacos. Make sure you ask if they're out of anything before you order. Because the waitresses won't tell you. Whatever you do do not order the "crab roll" unless you want 1 piece of cardboard with lots of lettuce hardly any flavorless crab someone decided to dump a shit ton of old bay on, yuck. Napkins?
