We were passing through Buffalo on our way home from a Niagara Falls vacation. I was in the mood for wings, and having previously been to the original Anchor Bar location, decided we'd try one of the suburban locations since it was more accessible. The food was fine and the portions were good, but the service was SLOW. It was mid-day on a Sunday afternoon and they weren't too busy - looked like maybe 25% full. It seemed like we had to wait forever for our food and our server wasn't attentive. We still had 4.5 hours to drive and it took probably twice as long to get in and out of here as it should have. I'll go back to the original if I'm in the area again, but I'll skip this location unless I'm in no hurry. read more

Anchor Bar is known for their wings, and I can see why!! I've never been to this location so I was excited to try it out. We ordered 10 wings flavored spicy garlic parm and honey garlic. One major plus is they let you split the flavors by multiples of 5 so that was great. We also ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich. The food took a while to come out but it was worth the wait. Everything was delicious and flavorful. The wings were crispy but also juicy. The service was also top notch. Give this place a try despite their low Yelp rating. read more

Food was great, this is my second stop at an anchors location, first at this one. Crispy wings, great flavors, reasonable prices. However, I went with with 2 friends after a long day of work. We arrived at around 6 on a Saturday, we were sat right away and figured out what we wanted pretty quick. However, our waitress was nowhere to be found. It was about 10 minutes before she came back to take our order. We ordered an appetizer to split and then our normal entrees. The appetizer came out pretty quick and honestly the food didn't take much more than 20 minutes to come out. However, the entire time we were there our waitress never came back to check on our drinks or see if we needed refills. Just brought the check, which was all on one, and not separate. The staff is friendly and efficient. The food was very tasty especially the wings... they invented the Buffalo Wings and it's what they are famous for, but they also have good sandwiches and entrees. Here's a tip: I looked over the take-out menu and on the front there is a coupon for $5 off if you spend $25 or more. (And that's easy to do.). What a great find on my trip thru lockport! Of course I had traditional buffalo wings and beef in weck! Both were amazing and our server was friendly and attentive! This rating only applies to the Maple Road location. Every time we have ordered delivery there has been an issue with the order or food. The last experience was with the spaghetti and meatballs. The first meatball was delicious, the second meatball had the longest hair hidden inside it!!! YES, as you can imagine I didn't notice it until it was in my mouth and literally wrapped around my tongue! I took a picture and immediately sent an email to the Manager who did refund money and apologized for the inconvenience and experience. I have been to the original restaurant many times, but this was my first experience at one of the franchises. The pizza was not the same I was accustomed to. While this was good, it was not what I expected based on my previous Anchor Bar visits downtown. The wings were good, but not great. One of the party ordered beef on weck and wings. He reports it also was good. But not up to the standards of the original Ben and Theresa's. If I had not been at the original this evening's experience would likely have scored higher, it was really quite good. The original will always have set a high bar to match. Y'all, do not come here if you want good wings. There are so many other better and close options in the general area. For someone who does have a food allergy (celiac disease), they do a great job advertising their "gluten free" options but have no idea what that actually means. If you are going to say you have gluten free options, you should probably educate your staff on what that entails, instead of allowing your customers ingest something that could potentially make them very sick. Now as for the more important topic, chicken wings. They were small, with very little meat and EXTREMELY saucy to the point where it was very soggy (even when requested to be well done and crispy). All in all, as a die had Buffalonian PLEASE go somewhere else for wings. read more

We're visiting the Niagara Falls area, and felt like we needed to take a drive down to Anchor Bar to try the original Buffalo wings. We sat outside on their patio, and I ordered their draft beer that the waitress said is brewed for the restaurant (sorry, I can't remember the name!). Two of us shared 10 traditional wings with honey garlic sauce, and the original sauce Buffalo chicken sandwich with fries. Both dishes were absolutely delicious, and I would recommend the food! My three star rating is based off of the experience... Our waitress Sarah was lovely and really as attentive as she could be, but we could tell this restaurant is understaffed (just like the rest of the world is unfortunately!). I kid you not, our meal was nearly two hours long just based upon waiting for the food to arrive. It took nearly 20min to receive our draft beer and soda, another 20 for the wings, and over an hour for the sandwich. I was happy that the food arrived nice and hot, meaning it wasn't sitting around to be picked up. But come on, it shouldn't take that long to produce our above dishes. We sat in the bar area and its bright and large with tons of seats at the bar and high-tops all around. The wings were very very good. So good my buddy and I polished off a double order then ordered 10 more. Our bartender/waitress had an A+ personality and was very fast in bringing the beers and food and she was very easy on the eyes as well. We decided to give it a try and to buy my soon to be Freshman at UB a gift card. We heard great things, so had to try. We were seated quickly and staff was friendly. It wasn't very busy at the Time. A late lunch. Felt a little pressured to place our order. My son really enjoyed his wings and the other enjoyed his sandwich. I ordered the tenders and tbh, they were for sure the frozen Ones cooked and tossed in a sauce. Wasn't great. But, that was just mine. I was able to buy some bottles of the bbq sauce to bring home, which made my son happy. My husband enjoyed his soup, and ate his salad, but didn't love that Caesar dressing. If it were the Anker Bar they'd sell charging banks for your mobile devices. Unfortunately it's not. Make no mistake: the Anchor Bar is for tourists, not Buffalonians. Yeah, I know, plenty of locals come here, but that's because a certain kind of food eater is more interested in the alcohol on offer, and is more attracted to chains and franchises even though they're bland AF and corporate AF. Anchor Bar is now a chain that has expanded outside WNY. Friends and people I live with come here regularly, since it's near my house. I've been dragged here half a dozen times, and the wings were even less impressive than the hot-sauce drizzled snoozefests in the original downtown location. Employees are your typical teenyboppers and 20somethings, but were always fairly friendly. The products, however, are overpriced. And they need to learn how Buffalo does wing sauce. It's supposed to be buttery, not to taste like straight Frank's Hot Sauce. Anyway, if you come to Buffalo, ask me where to get wings. Do not do Anchor Bar or Duff's. A little disappointing. The service was good and the atmosphere was lively but the food was not the greatest. We wanted to eat at the "original" wings place but the signature wings were not that great. I ordered hot but they were medium at best. Now I can stand HOT but these were not even close. My wive's medium wings were mild. Beyond the spiciness the favor was sub-par. The wings were meaty but just not tasty. The chips or potato wedges were ok, again not great.
