The grounds are absolutely beautiful. We stayed in the second house, but was told that the rooms in the main house are a bit nicer. This is not a new made to look old inn, rather historic and romantic homes. Our room was very comfortable. However it took a bit to get it right. At first we could not get a window to close because the counterweight was stuck in the wall. The owner had to come late at night and cut the cord to the counterweight and close the window. The bathroom Windows counterweight had already been cut, I'm not totally repaired. In addition, the window air-conditioning was very loud. It took some jiggling and repositioning of the unit to get it to an acceptable level. However, the air-conditioning worked very well. I am sure that with with give me a stork home the maintenance is ongoing. Just need to watch and make sure that the maintenance doesn't slip. I read through some of the reviews about not caring bags, non-flexibility of the breakfast not make the order meals, and the Wi-Fi. I don't think ever in a bed-and-breakfast/never seen anybody carrying bags. The breakfast staff worked very hard and produced an abundance of tasty food. They did ask if we wanted something different each morning then what was on the planned mignon. The cornmeal blueberry muffins were absolutely fabulous. Joy did a great job with all of the food preparation. The breakfast room was wonderful and very pleasant to start the day. Now the wifi - tried to connect several times on multiple devices, however it was never successful. The Wi-Fi system needs work. Overall this is a wonderful place to stay. We would definitely return.

The stunning antique decor, delicious breakfast and jacuzzi tub were a perfect balance of comfort and hospitality. It was whisper quiet, we enjoyed looking at all of the historical artifacts throughout the house as well as the jazz music playing at night on the sound system in the foyer downstairs when we came back from our night on the town. For breakfast, we had a delicious spread of sausage, eggs made to order, home fries, fresh fruit, toast and fresh sticky apple cinnamon rolls made by Sydney and Regina. The coffee was freshly brewed, all the while we had some great conversations with other guests in the dining room. I highly recommend this property for couples that are enjoying a weekend away from the everyday chaos, history fanatics, honeymooners, baby and bridal showers and small weddings. This hotel deserves the title of "THE CHEAPEST HOTEL IN THE CITY OF PROVIDENCE" I challenge anyone to tell me otherwise, (I have searched and tried, trust me) @$70 - $60 (if you don't want a tv) + $10 for the key (you get the $10 back when you return the key) $80 if you want a tv. Now your probably thinking $80 that's not really cheap but compared to the rest of the hotels in Providence and a city no less, well this place really doesn't compare, at all. When I say cheap I don't just mean in terms of price, but in quality as well, you know the term "You get what you pay for?" Well here you get that and maybe a lot less, If your looking for high class, room service, house keeping, little fridge, mints on your pillow type deal, Sportsmans isn't for you. However if your looking for grundgy, bohemian, New York, broken window, fire escape, brick wall is my window view type experience this may be your spot. First thing when you walk in the door is a door for the bar/strip club, I guess that doesn't say much as for as quality and class an all in one hotel/night club. I've been here on quite a few occasions and each room I've had I've noticed similar things. Its dirty. A lot of hotels try to make it seem like brand new, like no one has been there. Not this one. There is always some sort of evidence that the room has been used recently, whether its ashes in the cardboard ash tray or cigarette holes in the sheets. Someone has been there. The tv if you choose to get a room with one is basic cable. So no mtv, no vh1, no tbs, no bet. If your lucky you will get 6, 8, 9, 10, 12 and cool tv (the aci channel) Bed bugs. I've been here 4 times. Got bed bugs once. A lot of them. So you or may not get lucky its a luck of the draw I guess. The shower is tiny. One person only room. If you have a large frame there might be a struggle. The water takes forever to heat up and when it does be careful it might scald you. BYOT - BRING YOUR OWN TOILETRIES These people give you 5 things in the entire room that you can take home if you so choose Complimentary cardboard ash tray Toilet paper Styrofoam cup Tiny sliver of no name brand soap 1 towel This is not the place to come if your dreary or depressed the rooms will not help you, the light is an overhead which is often dimly lit, if your lucky you'll get a room with a window that's not broken, that you can actually see out of and will let light in. In closing, if your low on cash, looking to save money but trying to find a cheap place to stay in the city to rest your head but willing to sacrifice the comforts and normally accomodating features that many of the other hotels in providence have to offer Sportsmans may be just the place for you.

I just got back from a girls weekend at cooking at Bayberry Manor. There were eight of us . The…read moremanor itself is a 5000 square-foot home with eight bedrooms six baths. It is gorgeous and it's right on Buzzards Bay the Atlantic Ocean. The veranda was perfect for sitting around in Adirondack chairs, having lunch at the picnic table and taking pictures as the sun set behind us. We got there Friday afternoon. It was a gorgeous day. We had cocktails on the porch and some snacks. Because we went for the cooking event the manor supplied 12 bottles of wine for the two nights, you can request the type of wine that you like. The first night we were provided with a beautiful charcuterie board and clam chowder from Blounts in Rhode Island. The chowder was amazing. The next morning we were provided with bagels and cream cheese. There was coffee in the house so we made our own coffee and orange and cranberry juice. That day we had open until dinner time so we went for a little hike at great neck wildlife sanctuary. Then we came back and sat on the beach for the rest of the afternoon. I can't say it was a nice beach. It had a lot of seaweed and not very sandy. However, the water was very warm and one of the things we found out in the late afternoon is that as the tide rolls out it forms sandbars that you can walk right out to, and you can actually walk across the bay on the sandbars so apparently the water is not deep out there. Saturday night was the night we had the private chef. We worked with him prior to going to create the menu which is very lavish, including scallops and beef tenderloin coconut shrimp, and a few other delicious items. We all gathered in the kitchen and he walked us through the menu and then we were able to participate if we wanted to in the cooking, like whipping the ricotta slicing the peaches for the peach Melba and little things like that. The chef's helper made sure our wine glasses were full and took pictures for us. Then we had a little time where our group just hung out and when it was time to eat with gathered around the dining room table. The food was absolutely delicious and plentiful. They did not provide dessert so you can bring your own. We had gotten a cake for someone's birthday so we had that. Sunday morning, we were provided with quiche and bagels, muffins and scones and at lunchtime we ate the rest of the charcuterie board and the rest of the leftovers of dinner. We had so much fun. We are already planning to do it again next year! My understanding they also host, weddings, and other types of events., I believe you need to have a minimum of six people and a maximum of 16 to rent out the place we had the whole manner to ourselves. They were eight of us. I highly recommend this as a wonderful getaway. Some tips would be to bring water shoes so you can walk out to the sand bars. They provided eight beach chairs. Bring a very warm sweatshirt because it does get cool at night. It's some leggings or pants. You also need to bring your own soap, shampoo etc. An extra towel would be good too. We also wished we had brought Ziploc bags or takeout containers so to take home the leftover food. We bought plenty of bottled water and soda as well, but you don't need to bring any food unless you want snack stuff like chips and cookies.

My friend and I booked our seats for the Brunch Tour on March 29, 2025 at 11:00 am through the Comedy Bus website. The website was easy to use and reserve our tickets. About 10:35am, I arrived at the pickup location - Brass Monkey: 800 Allen's Avenue Providence, RI. I parked in the parking lot in the back of the building and walked to the front of Brass Monkey where the Comedy Bus was waiting. About 10:40am, they started to let people board the bus. I gave them my name and they ensured waivers were signed. My friend and I chose a row near the front. Each seat had a form for us to choose which drinks we wanted at the two stops. On the back of the seats in front of us, there was a bottle opener. Since guests are welcome to bring their own beer and wine to drink on the bus, my friend and I packed a small lunchbox-sized cooler with Barefoot Spritzers. Everyone arrived pretty much on time except for 1 couple. Brad Pierce, our first comedian, talked briefly about sights and neighborhoods in Providence and he asked the last couple to board the bus, which superpower they would like to have and they said speed. Brad said yes, speed is a good one since you were almost late for the tour. The second comedian was Matt from Lil Rhody Laugh Riot. Both comedians were really funny and had us laughing the whole trip. Our first stop was Moonshine Alley. Our drinks were brought to us and chicken and waffles were served. The chicken was very moist and the waffles were hot and fresh. The Moonshine Sangria was also very good. The second stop was Viva Mexico Cantina Grill and we had our second drink with a plate of steak slices with chips, avocado, eggs and salsa. The Classic Red Sangria was refreshing. The steak was a little dry for me, but with the salsa it was a lot better. The chips and avocado were very good. Overall, what is better than brunch, drinks, and comedy. By the end of the tour, everyone felt like family. We were all sharing drinks and laughter. It was truly an unforgetabble morning/afternoon. We were kept on time and arrived back at Brass Monkey, the pickup location, exactly in 3 hours.
