So weird, if you scroll down there are 13 reviews that Yelp claims are "that are not currently…read morerecommended" and they are all positive. For some reason only the negative reviews are showing up here on the main page. I know most of those 13 other people, they are great people and all have children at the preschool. They should most certainly be relevant. On with my review.... Being a new parent was very intimidating for me. Had they been boys, I likely would have been the "men don't cry, rub some dirt on it and walk it off" type dad. I'm extremely thankful I had two girls as it made me toss that parenting plan out the window. Sadly, I didn't have a backup in place. Our first daughter was around 18 months old or so and our photographer (who had 2 kids at WFP and also has a "not currently recommended review) strongly suggested WFP. We had actually started the preschool hunt about the same time, so we went to the open house. The open house was good, didn't blow our socks off or anything. We still shopped around for other schools. Most of the "preschools" we tutored, were really just day care. 2 or three burnt out adults trying to wrangle a mass of toddlers who have 0 impulse control. A couple of the tours were just an eyeful of staff running around putting out fires (not literally) and trying to keep the place in one piece. No time for nurturing, one on one care, educating. Really, just mayhem. Which of course has it's purpose as well, developing those social skills is very important and what better environment to do that in than the Thunderdome. Our eldest was very shy around strangers and had extreme separation anxiety. WFP won out our hunt simply because we could be there with her to hold her hand whatever that little brain was going through... Since my review is already getting a bit wordy, I'll just say this last week (3 years later) my daughter gave a presentation from her journal in front of the entire class as though no one else was there. She is strong, confident, and extremely outgoing. She has made quite a few friends at the preschool and by the end of the weekend she is excited to get back at it. Our youngest is frequently jealous of our eldest because she only gets to go to preschool one day a week (ups to 3 days a week next year). She has also flourished at the preschool though she is about as opposite of her sister as one could be. So I say thanks to WFP. My parenting plan is to raise confident women with a depth of self worth whose bottom will never be found and I strongly believe that Beth, Cecile, Jodie, and the other parents of WFP have given my girls the foundation they will need to achieve those goals.

I'm talking we…read morewent on the ferry, we went to Glazed and Amazed to do pottery, we went to the pumpkin patch, some sort of vegetable garden/farm, a bus trip where they learned about safety and how the buses work etc and this was in one school year! With the parent co-op model you do have to work in the classroom once per week and attend a family meeting one night a month. This is the same as any co-op preschool and keeps the tuition low and family engagement high! Because all of the parents are so involved, we made some lifelong friends from this school. We feel so blessed to have been a part of this community.

And now, during Covid, the kids ate continuing to have engaging activities and zoom classes. We pick up materials every 2 weeks, so all art projects, math manipulatives, etc, are provided. We exchange them every 2 weeks, so they can be cleaned and rotated to other students. I can't wait to get back to in person learning, but I'm VERY happy with what's been provided virtually.

Kids have access to music, soccer, and yoga in addition to art and play. We've had our child here for three years, and while there have been many staffing transitions, the staff has always really cared for the kids. We love the mixed age class which gives the little ones a chance to learn from older kids, and the older kids a chance to be empathetic and kind to the younger kids. We also love the language aspect.. My child has made lots of great friends!

At that age it is less of a "preschool" than a fun, enriching activity for you to do with your baby. They have an amazing outdoor space where my son loved to play with trucks, roll balls down the ball ramp, and go down the slide. The indoor space has lots of experiences including water table, art, blocks, dramatic play and lots of great toys that rotate in and out each month. At BFCP my son had his first time drinking out of a cup and eating sitting in a real chair at a table! The parent ed component is kind of an educational support group, with new topics each week prepared by Teacher Jamie along with a lot of sharing of experiences and ideas. If your kid is comfortable playing on their own, you even get a break and a cup of coffee while other parents help keep an eye on the kids! She helped him eat well, nap well, got him laugh, got him to play with the other babies, and captured great pictures of him laughing! The teachers worked together well to help with the transition to toddler room; during outside time, the infant room teacher would make sure our son got a chance to play with the toddler room teacher to get used to her. Our kid really likes the toddler room teacher too, and eats, sleeps, and plays well there too. The director has been great too; she's reachable and communicative, and talks through any concerns we have in an empathetic and informative way. The daycare is very clean too, and the lady who cleans is also super nice and says hi to us and our kid every day when we pick him up.
