We arrived about 15 minutes before they closed and initially the guy said we couldn't do a tasting because we were too late, but as they had some other people finishing up we could have a splash of a couple of wines as we were there. Well the other people ended up taking so long that we got through every wine on the tasting menu! The chap serving us was really nice and reminded me a bit of my dad in the 80's - ya know, that sweater and the haircut, and the way he would explain things really slowly for you. The wines - because that's why you're reading this right? - were very good! I will be up front with you all now about my intense dislike for white wine. It's probably just me but generally it all tastes like paint stripper to me. I know it's all about the tannins etc but I'm more about the mellow reds on the whole. If you generally consider yourself in the same boat, I would urge you to try this place for white wine. We were in a rush at the time cause they were closing but I'm definitely going to have to go back one day to buy some. Think flavour without the acidity. Delicious. The reds were also good, and to finish we had some port, which was just the icing on the cake. This place is a lot smaller than most so you may miss it but I'd recommend popping in and giving it a try - especially whilst they're offering 2 for 1 on tastings! read more

This is a quaint winery that has delicious wines. My first time wine tasting and Doug was such a pleasure! Thanks Doug! read more

Anaba Wines - Wine Tasting Room Near Me - Sonoma, California

Favorite new winery! My wife and I found Anaba during a Sonoma getaway a few weeks back, not realizing we'd driven right past it many times in our wine country travels. The wines are all excellent without a miss in the lineup. We had vowed that weekend we would only join a wine club at a place where we liked everything we tasted, and until we got to Anaba we hadn't found better than about a 50% hit rate from any lineup that weekend. We loved everything we tasted at Anaba, which ended up being all nine wines they were currently offering. The winemaker is creating some truly interesting blends - the Coriol White and Sonoma Valley Red are not to be missed. I'm also in love with the Chardonnay and J Mck Pinot but, honestly, they're all winners. Retail prices run between $20 and $32 on every bottle so it's all pretty accessible. Our host was very friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about the wine. We met the owner, too, who was working a table on the outside patio. Definitely an intimate place. Lastly, Anaba is just a nice contrast if you've been tasting at the big wineries all day. There's something great about the small, independent winery; one that measures its annual case volume in the thousands instead of hundreds of thousands, that has fewer than ten wines they make and make very well, and where you meet half the staff in one visit. Anaba is such a winery and one that I heartily recommended. read more

We stopped in because Anaba was one of the Visa Signature wine tasting options. I was apprehensive as we pulled in because it was across the street from a gas station and right on a busy corner. I was pleasantly surprised once we got inside. It has an adorable little tasting room with a private outdoor patio. All of the tables face the vineyard so you don't even realize that you are right on the main road. The owners were very friendly. Our server had all of the tables laughing and having a good time. Its a nice place to stop in! read more

This is a gem amongst the much larger wineries in this stretch. The Rhone varietals are also a nice detour from the typical offerings in the area. I love the white port, and the graphics on the bottles. Each time I've been in, I've had a new favorite of the reds, but I expect that because in the course of tastings, my palate gets worn. But what I really love about this place is the hospitality. Duane and Bill have been there on each of my 3 visits, and each time they are lots of fun, patient and plenty informative. Quiz them with questions about the varietals and you'll get some tongue in cheek answers for sure. Grab a sandwich next door and sit out on their deck with a bottle of rose and you're guaranteed a good time. Groups should make an appt. since it's a smaller room. read more

Wow, reading all these reviews for great service makes me a little jealous. I am giving 3 stars as a compromise as the wine is 5 stars but the service was a 2. It just seemed like we were more of a nuisance than anything. Maybe our server was just tired or something, but it seemed like waiting on us was a chore. In all due respect we did get to taste quite a bit of wine that was delicious and we did buy some, and I would definitely go back and recommend this winery. Perhaps next time we will get a host that acts like he is happy that we are there. read more

This was the first stop of my Sonoma tour, so as usual my recollection here is the strongest. The tasting room is small but the layout makes it feel a lot bigger, and I mean this in a good way. I liked the modern choice in music and the staff were polite and young which made me feel comfortable chatting about the wines. They finish of the tasting with their chocolate sauce which was amazing! I ended up taking home a bottle of the viognier. read more

Anaba might just be my new favorite small winery in Sonoma. It's a cute little building with a cute little tasting room. It almost feels like you are walking into someone's living room/kitchen. Our sommelier was adorable. She was this young valley girl who I kept expecting to say, "gag me with a spoon" but I was shocked when she started talking about the wines and the wine making process. She REALLY knows her stuff and was really fun and engaging. We came to Anaba from Buena Vista and I was really pleasantly surprised by Anaba's wine. They aren't overpowering in flavor but all have a nice taste that pairs well with food or can be drunk alone. $10 fee for 5 tastings. Good sized pours and when you get the tasting fee removed when you buy a bottle. The parking is a bit of a bear. It would be nice if they some how expand the parking lot. I'm on the fence with 5 stars, I liked it that much, but I want to visit it again one more time just to be sure. Support the little guys! Visit Anaba! read more

This place has really good whites. You can even opt to do your tasting on the outside patio. Highly recommended if its nice and sunny out and you just want to chill out. Bought 3 bottles of wine here. They're also dog friendly so I brought the pooch with me. read more

Doug was great! Unlike some places in the area, it does cost money to get some wine flights here. That said, it was only $15 for a 7 pour tasting (or just $10 with Yelp check-in) and it was worth it. Also, one tasting fee is included if you buy two bottles. We were seated on the patio outside (some standing bar room exists inside) and were able to enjoy the nature and freshness of being outside next to their vineyard. They also have olives on their property, so Doug showed us an uncured olive and encouraged us NOT to eat it (because it tastes gross). The pours were generous and Doug provided very customized explanations of the wines for us. Super experience -- we'll be back! read more

Four Stars for Tasting Room Three Stars for Wines Brittany did a great job describing the wines and serving our tasting. Very friendly and sociable, yet not intrusive. Unfortunately, we couldn't sit outside b/c of the wind & there's no where to sit inside. Be sure you use the 2 for 1 Yelp coupon! Tastings are $10 each (before coupon) and it's comped with a bottle purchase They have some interesting Rhone varietals, including a nice Viognier. I really wanted to like the wines, but they're just quite there yet. Limited complexity, not many tasting notes. I'll check back in a vintage or two. read more

Great wine! Very knowledgeable and friendly staff! Ask for Pauly. The space is gorgeous. Can't wait for the pickle ball court when we visit again! read more

4 1/2 stars for tasting room. 3 1/2 stars for the wine. For a Napa Valley low production vineyard these guys are ok. You get what you pay for and maybe a little bit more. I wouldn't go as far as categorizing them anywhere near some of the big boys but the tastings are cheap as so are the wines they sell. I would consider myself having a pretty good notion of what is good and though I have many favorites.. I would come back and learn even more about them. Maybe I could actually afford to take a bottle home as well. What they might be more famous for is the Rose and those take a special learning about. Ill be back. read more

This is a pretty good little find. The lady at the visitors center in Sonoma told us about it and gave us a discount card, because otherwise I doubt that we would have found it. It's certainly not the most well known winery around. The do have a pretty sweet outdoor seating area which overlooks the surrounding fields. It is a little close to the main street nearby, so you do get a bit of traffic noise but it's not too bad. The wines themselves are pretty good in an unconventional sort of way. They tend to emphasize white wines and slightly sweeter wines, unlike many of the other Napa/Sonoma wineries which are heavily pushing their cabernets. My personal favorites were the ports, which interestingly they have in both a red and white varieties. I don't think I've ever had a white port until now, and I found it to be both delicious and novel. We took a bottle back and drank it at a dinner party that we had, and it was a big hit. I would go back just to get more. The other wines were good but definitely less notable. Overall, I think it is a pretty cool little place to round out a day of wineries in Sonoma, and definitely worth it just for the interesting port. read more

We stopped here on a day of tasting. This is a place that does not serve food but they have cracker sticks, which was awesome!! I really wanted to enjoy the options we had to taste but the pours were so small it was very hard to do so... We actually bought a bottle of pino that was delicious but we had to ask for a second tasting to make up our minds. The ambiance was awesome!! Very homey and simple. read more

What a fantastic tasting experience! I'm not sure whether the view or tasting servant Douglas made it more enjoyable. The views are spectacular of the Sonoma Valley mountains as Douglas guides you through each wine on the tasting menu. From a beautiful Chardonnay to a Spanish-style Grenache to their Port, Anaba is a great stop in-between the towns of Napa and Sonoma. It's a little hidden at the four-way intersection of Arnold and 121, but underneath the beautiful palm trees lies this hidden gem. Check it out! read more

I went here for a wine tasting and was not disappointed at all. For $5 (I got a 50% coupon through yelp woo!) I got to taste 7 different wines. All of them unique with a good blend of red, white, sweet, and dry. I'm not going to pretend here that I know much about wine, but out of the other places I went to in Sonoma, this was by far my favorite. They have an incredible patio where instead of having to rush through your wine tasting at the bar, you can enjoy the scenery outside. All of the employees there were incredibly knowledgeable and we were there for over an hour and didn't feel rushed to have to get through the tasting. Overall just a great experience if you're a tourist and want to enjoy a wine tasting. If you're a local and want a good spot to enjoy an afternoon, this would be the place as well. Also I bought 2 bottles of wine here... the Riesling and the Pinot Noir. Excellent quality. Will be back again! read more

Anaba: In Japanese it means "the spot to be" or "an excellent place not many people know about". Driving back from a Sonoma getaway, my Japanese friend has never gone wine tasting. "Hey, that winery opens at 10:30, lets just swing by really quick and check it out, might be the spot" Cute tasting room and the staff was suuuper nice. They told us how they got their name Anaba, and also told us that their electricity is mostly generated by the wind turbines they have in the vineyard. Doug was our guy that took us on our tasting journey and he was very informative, plus we had the option to either be outside or inside. We chose to sit on the porch with the relaxing view. And it was dog friendly! So I was able to release my boyfriend and dog from out of the car! They brought my dog a bowl of water and a treat. Since my dog is on a hypoallergenic diet, he could not have the cookie, but when I told them he could have carrots... They had a carrot too! Learned great information coming here, and the tasting is only $10 a person (6 tastings a person, but Doug gave us a couple more. TIP: If you yelp check in, you get more benefits, but it is a secret, so check in!) My friend had so much fun and she loved every wine she tasted, and said this is the best wine ever! (First time she is tasting California wine). Every time that delicious wine touched her lips, she got so excited. Doug also took us on the ground so my friend could see how grapes grew. My friend wanted 3 bottles (because 3 is the max you can take back to Japan). She bought a Chard, a Pinot Noir and a Viognier dessert wine. Unfortunately the Chardonnay broke in her suitcase, all over her clothes, just on her way to LA! Hopefully the other 2 bottles will make it back to Japan. Definitely coming back for some more in the future. I enjoyed our experience here and would like to tell some more friends that it is "the spot to be". read more

Still pretty new, but we were glad they came up. The server was really sweet and the wine was pretty good. It wasn't our specific cup of tea, but we did take home a bottle. The cool thing is that they are partially wind-powered (I want to say 30% but am too lazy to look). Environmentally friendly wine-making? Yes please! That alone will bring us back again from time to time when we're up in Sonoma. read more

The wines were good. I particularly recommend the Coriol White and the 2009 Sonoma Coast Pino Noir. The host was very friendly and knowledgeable. I bought a bottle of the 2009 Pinot and it was jut as delicious at home, which I always find to be a good thing as I sometimes like some wines more when I'm in the tasting room than I do when I get them home. read more

This place is great. Bill is hilarious, my favorite term he coined to poke humor at other wineries was cork-dork...which in fact may be the perfect epitome of some of the places I have visited before. Anaba is so unpretentious making it REALLY easy to just sit back and relax and enjoy some good wine, especially on the patio when the sun is shining. On the other side, if you have questions and want specifics about the wine- they will give it to you! The more I visit wine country the more I come to prefer Sonoma and Calistoga over Napa...and if you feel like you can't get into the groove of Napa's wineries come visit this place and you will see the light! We found this amazing place on our way to Mendocino and we are so glad we stopped by. Though I would occasionally indulge with a glass or two, I have no clue with the differences in wines. Just about every wine tasted amazing and Paul provided great customer service. Great place to visit!

Wonderful new tasting facility and pinot noir specialty wines. All good value. Our guide Paul was great.

Really nice tasting at this winery. Enjoyed all the wines (especially the dry Riesling, and I never like Rieslings). Our pourers were nice and knowledgable. P.S. I was initially put off by all the Yelp reviewers going there who said they know nothing about wine. But we wine taste a lot, and it's a great stop, not just for newbies. read more
