I've been training with Amy twice a week for the past year, both in person and virtually. When I started, I was pre-diabetic, and suffering from plantar fasciitis and osteoarthritis in my knees that made it painful for me to participate in the sports and activities I love. Since then, I've dropped over 50 pounds, lost eight inches around the waist, and gotten back to hiking and pickle ball and golfing without pain. When I went for my annual physical a few months ago, it was the first time in fifteen years that the results came back clean - every result was in the normal range. Cholesterol and blood sugars were way down. I hired Amy as my trainer because she would come to my home, and train with me in the garage on the equipment I own. Dumbbells, kettlebells, TRX, box jump, wall sits, etc. Every workout is different. She is patient, quick to offer modifications when something's not right, and keeps a close eye on form to ensure I perform the moves correctly. She knows how to push, too. I never knew there were so many variations of plank exercises, squats and lunges. She's often recognized before I have that I am capable of doing far more than I realize, and it's worked. She's turned me into a lover of Bulgarian split squats! I'm healthier, stronger and more fit than I've been in decades, and I credit Amy. She's even helped with diet and nutrition, and turned me onto healthier foods, and when and how to use protein shakes maximum effect. In other words, I'm a big fan, and wholeheartedly recommend her training services for anyone who is serious about making health and fitness a bigger part of their lives. read more

Amy came highly recommended to us in 2021 by a physical therapist who had been working with my husband, Andy, 71, after a stroke. In 2022, I realized that I, 73, should be working on my own strength and conditioning in order to assist him as well as maintaining my own quality of life. For four years I have been working with Amy twice a week and Andy continues working with her once a week. We began with in-home visits but Covid forced us to virtual sessions via FaceTime. FaceTime has proven to be the perfect situation, especially since her recent move to Minneapolis. Her relocation went seamlessly for us and we continue as if she still lives in Pleasanton. Amy tasks us with personally designed workouts every session, making certain we're performing the moves correctly for maximum benefit, and offers valuable advice on diet and nutrition. She continues to research new and challenging exercises for us, pushing us to continually improve our strength, conditioning, balance and endurance. Her help has enabled us to continue to travel, enjoy our grandchildren and just feel better. We highly recommend our friend and trainer extraordinaire to anyone looking for a guide to better health. read more

We worked out with Amy for a chunk of time and she was really wonderful! She was extremely fun to work out with and extremely understanding of our goals and where we were in our fitness journey (early and out of shape!). She conveniently came to our home and was extremely flexible with us. In addition to the working out - she was a great person to get to know! She is kind and funny and it was always an hour I looked forward to! Thank you Amy for all the help! read more

Amy has been coming to my house to work with me for the past 3 years. We started working out with my daughter and when she went off to school it became a private lesson. For the past 2 years I have been struggling with stage 4 nonsmokers lung cancer. Without Amy's help, I would not be able to do half as much as I am doing. She keeps me functional and flexible. We do chair and floor exercises to my ability. Amy is always positive and encouraging. I love to talk to her and I consider her a friend. She is an excellent trainer and works at the capacity of a physical therapist. I highly recommend her to anyone with disabilities or health problems. She is able to adapt the exercises to your needs. read more

Amy is a terrific trainer and fitness coach. She listens carefully and builds a plan for your goals and needs. I've struggled most of my adult life to stay in some kind of fit shape. After a sedentary 35 year professional career, mostly in front of a computer, my body has lost flexibility and coordination. This latest quarantine has obviously limited regular movement. So I read Amy's reviews and spoke with her at length about my goals. She listened closely and designed a custom exercise and nutrition plan. Amy is encouraging, supportive, instructive and provides a basic level of accountability. She is extremely knowledgeable in her fields, both in terms of exercise/movement and nutrition. After an in depth history, she customized my workouts around pre-existing injuries. We started with dynamic stretching and the workouts progressed to challenge me more a bit each week. I lost weight, am keeping it off, improved my flexibility a great deal and built core stamina. My nutritional intake was not in alignment with my health and fitness goals. Too much sugar and processed food. Amy provided clear direction and suggestions on improving my diet. Using a food tracker to provide weekly reports to Amy, she gave me constructive feedback and accountability. I opted for a multi-session pack and met with her 2-3 times per week on video (Zoom or Facetime), using my own home equipment. I would recommend Amy as a virtual nutritionist and fitness trainer for any age group. read more

I trained with Amy for a few years. She is very knowledgeable and really takes the time to tailor workouts so that you progress in your fitness goals. She keeps workouts fun and challenging by changing things up frequently. Amy also frequently checks in with you about your nutrition and gives pointers in changes you can make with food that support your fitness goals. She is by far the best personal trainer out there! read more

About a year ago, my wife and I decided to look for a personal trainer. We are in our late 30s, both work, have two young kids, and find it very difficult to find time to workout and stay fit. Enter Amy! She is *the best*. She puts together great workouts that are always changing and tailored to our individual needs and provided us with a great nutritional plan. We've both lost weight, gained flexibility, and gotten a lot stronger! She has a great attitude and keeps things fun as well. We look forward to our sessions with Amy every week! We cannot recommend her highly enough. read more

Amy is great. I was looking for a way to stay fit, strong and lose some weight while stuck at home through COVID. Amy's sessions are fun, varied and have a level of intensity that makes you feel terrific at the end of the session. I was worried about the effectiveness of a virtual session with a personal trainer but I have to say I am thrilled with the results. I have lost weight and feel strong. Amy pays very close attention to form and technique over video chat and you can tell it is very important for her to make sure you are doing the exercises correctly and maximizing the benefit while avoiding the risk of injury. If you are looking for an at home trainer I couldn't recommend more highly. read more

To provide an update to my earlier review: I met Amy in 2019, and we worked together until I moved out of state in 2022. When we started working together, my goals were to develop a regular exercise practice and improve my strength. She trained me in preparation for my wedding, during pregnancy, and postpartum. We worked together virtually during Covid, and her presence and positivity was essential during that time. I believe that there is no better investment than your own personal health and fitness, and you could not ask for a better partner, coach, or cheerleader than Amy Sitzmann. She is truly a gem. read more

Amy is amazing, can't recommend her enough! My wife and I have worked with her for 3 years and still going great. Amy has done single trainings, paired trainings where we both work out at the same time, and even incorporated our older (60s) parents into paired trainings with us sometimes. She's flexible to our schedule changes and will even do virtual workouts while she's traveling. She keeps the strength training routines fresh and interesting and is often looking up new things for us to try. She's flexible to different ability levels and paces and will adapt in the moment if something is impacting our ability to workout (e.g., lack of sleep due to our young kids). She can even multi-task with my wife and I doing different workouts at the same time when needed. I know I've seen great results, I feel stronger and others have commented on my evolving physique over time. Give Amy a try, you'll love it! read more

I am a stroke victim. My physical therapist thought working with a trainer would be beneficial and she recommended Amy. Amy's workouts are challenging but take into account my stroke induced limitations. Since I started working with Amy both my flexibility and range of motion have markedly improved. read more

Great trainer if you are looking for online training sessions or if you happen to live in/near Pleasanton. I worked with Amy for about six months, half in person and half online. What I noticed the most was increased, upper body, strength, and confidence that I can lift more weight than I thought. She's very laid-back and easy to work with. the only reason why I'm stopping is that it was getting too hard for me to drive down to her for workouts and I prefer in person work outs. read more

I have been fortunate to have Amy a part of my life. Personally, I wanted to make a life style change (long work hours, sedentary work, etc.) and decided to contact her. As someone who has struggled with my weight my whole life, I was nervous to start. I met with Amy about twice a week, starting in November through February. During my sessions, Amy was always encouraging, supportive, and motivational. During the workouts, I could feel myself getting stronger. She also helped me with improving my diet. Even when I felt like giving up, Amy was always there to cheer my on. Unfortunately, due to life circumstances, I had to move, but that never stopped Amy from keeping in touch. She continues to check in with me, and I am forever grateful for her. With that said, Amy really helped my kick start my lifestyle change. Since November, I have been able to lose 27 pounds. She has helped me improve my confidence and help me with my back problems. I would highly recommend Amy - we have even done virtual workouts and they are just as rewarding as the in-person workouts. Thank you, Amy for all you do! read more

I just completed 12 weeks of intense training for one night a week. The results were awesome, lost 10 pounds of fat, gained 6 pounds of lean muscle, dropped 6 inches overall in my upper body, gained 1.5 inches in legs and hips. The measurements proved the hard work pays off and the skilled instructions work the core! I'm a competitive swimmer and my times are dropping... thanks Amy. For those that want to lose weight or tone up for the summer, this program works wonders. I'm in for another 12 sessions. read more

Since SIP Amy has been training us virtually and it's working out great! Give it a try...Amy makes it fun, while getting results.

Just like everyone else, I was looking for a good and committed trainer. I found Amy here on Yelp and she has been working with me since July 2018. I found her to be results driven and she is extremely knowledgeable at what she does. Amy is easy to work with and she took the time to understand my needs and tailored my workouts accordingly. In a matter of 5 months, I have achieved tremendous results. When I started working with her, my weight was about 202 lbs and I almost had no flexibility or strength. It was hard for me to do even one push ups. Fast forward 5 months, I weigh about 176 lbs and I can comfortably do 35 pushups. I have also started her with my 11 yr old son and he loves it too. I would strongly recommend her. Update: Nov 2019 It's been over a year now that I am training with Amy. I have seen some phenomenal results and absolutely love her commitment to her clients. She raises the bar. Recently we started training on video calls and it's been working out very well. read more

I loved working with Amy! She is so knowledgeable and experienced, and can answer all your questions about fitness and nutrition. When I started to see her, I was getting over a broken ankle and she helped me gain back strength and mobility in just a few months. What I appreciated most about Amy was her supportiveness and practical approach to fitness. Because I am a stay-at-home mom, she made sure my workouts were designed to build the strength and endurance needed to follow my little one around all day! If I didn't move to a different county, I would definitely still be seeing Amy every week! read more

Amy is an amazing trainer! She has taken me from a person who had two kids within two years and lost a ton of strength and mobility to someone who feels the strongest they've ever felt. All of that at the age of 42! I can't say enough positive things about Amy. She is motivating and will tailor your program to what your needs are. I've been working with her for over a year and always appreciate her encouragement to keep moving and working hard. read more

I started training with Amy last year in September, and she has been training me remotely, through video chat. While I have worked with trainers in the past, my particular challenge is I have a recently diagnosed medical condition that prevents me from executing a number of exercises. I am not super into the boot camp approach to working out, so finding the right trainer was important to me. Amy has been awesome modifying routines for my ability and level, and I have gotten much stronger and active since I've been working with her. Amy is cheerful, thoughtful, and kind. She keeps things light and positive and I appreciate that she has managed to find the perfect balance of routines that are challenging for me but still achievable. She is also creative with usage of whatever fitness equipment you have, so she isn't pushing you to buy a huge amount of equipment. I basically have a mat, some dumbbells, and a couple bands. My workout space is about 7'x7', so not an insane amount of room, yet she gets my heart rate up for an hour better than any gym I've attended. I highly recommend Amy to anyone looking to get stronger, fitter in a safe, and motivating way that isn't boot campy and pugnacious (I don't like people screaming at me). I look forward to continuing to work out with her, and maybe soon in person! read more

I also ran my fastest half marathon yet on May 21st 2017, running the 13.1miles in 1hr 38min! I grew up a runner and have absolutely loved getting back into it with Amy's help. I felt so strong on my run (despite getting food poisoning two nights before the race). Working with her has kept me injury free and has gotten me stronger than I think I have ever been! I especially love the accountability I have working with Amy, at the end of a long day at school I often have no motivation to work out but I know all I have to do is show up and once I see Amy I am suddenly in the mood to work hard and have fun! Training with Amy has been such a joy and amazing addition to my life. My body has transformed into a much healthier me and I have had so many good laughs with her along the way! Abs by Amy! Yes, thanks to Amy's comprehensive fitness program, insistence on hydration and nutrition, fun personality, and firm guidance, I'm 1/2 way to an 8-pack (you do the math). Each session starts with stretching and warm-ups, followed by an array of body weight exercises that you can do at home or while traveling, with different muscle groups targeted in each session to allow recovery. Amy excels at assisted stretching, which really helps expand muscle range and prevents injury. She is prompt, professional but fun, and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend! read more

The result - we are both now fit, active, and stronger!! We highly, highly recommend Amy! read more

I have been working with Amy since November of 2017, and I honestly can't imagine life without her! In that time my body fat has gone from 32% to 27%. I've lost 6.5 lbs of body fat and gained 3.3 lbs of lean muscle, despite a back injury that put me out of commission for a while. Amy is such a great trainer because she meets you where you are, and pushes you just enough so that you work hard but you don't give up. She never tries to impress or intimidate her clients even though she is in amazing shape herself. I was always so scared to work with a trainer because I thought that I just wasn't "one of those people". Amy makes fitness accessible to everyone and has taught me exercises that I'll be able to keep up on my own too. Whether you're an experienced athlete or a regular joe like me, Any can help you turn things around or take them to the next level. read more

I'm was a complete beginner with a recovering foot fracture when I started training with Amy and lacked confidence in going to the gym on my own. Amy changed that aspect of me forever. She designs personalized programs that caters to your fitness level and progressively increase the program intensity to help you gain strength that you never knew you had before! The difference between my first session to where I am now is completely astounding. She really made me understand that fitness is not just "I want to look good for summer" type of ordeal. Fitness is a lifestyle. She gave me numerous tips on diet and recommendations for protein shakes and cardio activities on days when I'm not training with her. She cares a lot about your progress and continues to check in with you on off days. I've even sent her photos of my lunch before!! She also goes above and beyond to make sure your postures are correct and that you are safe when performing exercises (especially if you have sustained prior injuries). I've never been an early riser, but I wake up early in the mornings to train with Amy as this is something I look forward to throughout the week. She makes me excited to be active and healthy and cheers me on when my inner voice tells me I'm not strong enough. Thank you Amy for all that you've done for me! read more

My wife and I love the positive, upbeat energy Amy brings directly to our home! We have been using her service for the past 4 and 1/2 yrs. She is very creative, keeps it fresh and interesting! Well educated in fitness and nutrition, she attends live workshops throughout the year on various topics like sports conditioning, functional fitness, correcting posture problems, kickboxing, and older adult fitness. We have had several personal trainers before Amy & she is definitely our favorite. She is very inspiring as she constantley pushes us and changes our routines. We would highly recommened Amy as an in-home personal trainer, especially if you hate going to the gym and dealing with waiting around for the next equipment to use! read more

So I have just received my fourth training appointment with Amy. I have has several personal trainers before and have been working out for a long time. I usually get a personal trainer every 2 years to help boost my work out and show me some new things. We started our first session going over nutrition and was surprised to actually a learn a few things (I'm not saying because I payed for the info!!) haha In the beginning we go for a real nice jog, and I can go farther and farther each time. We use a lot of bands and resistance training. Every time I see her I learn something new and she takes me to the next level. I love feeling that pain the next day where you know you are changing!! She has completely changed my workouts for the better by altering them to fit my needs, goals, and keeping in mind my weak areas like my wrists and lower back. I want to do a triathlon in the summer and she is a competitive swimmer so I am very excited for this portion to start as well. I have lost body fat in this program and have gotten more toned, as well as inspired.. I am now going to the gym 4 times a week on top of our once a week meetings! My gym friends notice a change, and so does my boyfriend! yay!! read more

Amy is Amazing!! I've been training with Amy for almost one year, 3X a week, and am very impressed with the results! I am a hardworking career woman but so lazy when it comes to making time for exercise and proper nutrition. I needed accountability.I had never worked with a personal trainer before, so was hesitant to say the least. It took a lot of courage for me to make that phone call last spring, but so glad I did! Amy makes working out fun! We laugh, dance during rest periods, stretch, weight train, cardio, and boxing. She has also helped me work out an easy to do nutrition plan. I have lost several inches in my hips, waist, butt, and chest. My energy throughout the day has soared, and I am also more relaxed. My hormone balance in my body has also been regulated! Mission accomplished! Amy has helped make exercise a part of my life. read more

As a man with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), my life was challenging to say the least. Breathing was always difficult. At the end of 2012 I experienced an acute exacerbation of COPD. I needed to make some big changes, not only for myself but for my family. My doctor told me to get on an exercise routine as stronger muscles require less oxygen. I'm not a fan of working out in a big club or gym, and I needed someone for accountability. So I hired Amy as my personal trainer! She had extensive knowledge and experience with working with people with chronic diseases and illnesses. Twice a week for the past year and a half Amy has come to my home to train me with a workout plan. She changes up my exercise routine so I never get bored. She designs the workout to consist of dynamic, functional style movements to help me move better with greater flexibility and strength. I particularly enjoy the assisted stretching at the end of each workout. And since I'm on a regular schedule with her I have no excuses but to get it done every week. Amy makes the workouts fun, and is creative. My life has changed for the better since I met Amy. My flexibility and strength have improved dramatically. I can breathe and function better. Most importantly I'm playing better golf (pain free) and participate in hiking and other physical activities with my family. Thanks to Amy's guidance and help, my limitations have decreased substantially. read more

Great regular and prenatal trainer! Amy is an amazing trainer! I've been working out with her for over 2 years and absolutely love her workouts. She is a skilled, personable, and caring trainer who designs workouts specifically for me and is not afraid to push me! I met Amy for a complimentary trial session not even thinking that I would ever pay for a personal trainer. I was a fairly fit person and did not think I needed a trainer. However, two workouts with Amy completely changed my opinion. I first bought 20 sessions, than 20 more, and more, and more - because she is so great. Amy designed workouts for my level of fitness and my specific goals and needs. My goal was to get more muscle tone. Within 3 months people started making remarks about my great looking arms and that's because they could not see me in a swimsuit! More importantly though, my workouts with Amy kept me sane when I was working 60+ hour weeks and attending evening MBA program at the same time. When I got pregnant I continued to work out with Amy throughout the whole pregnancy until 38 weeks. Amy continually adjusted my workouts to account for the changes happening to my body so that the workouts remained challenging but pregnancy friendly and focused on muscles most needed to stay in shape during the pregnancy. Our workouts helped me to keep my weight gain down even though I was struggling with the gestational diabetes. I gave birth to a healthy boy and was back to my pre-pregnancy weight within 8 weeks! And that's was truly an amazing outcome! read more

Throughout the past few months she has continued to adjust my workouts as I grew stronger or to focus on particular areas. Where to begin? I am a 49 year old woman with a rather complicated and extensive health history. In fact, even the doctors don't really know what to do for me. Tiring of all the referrals that led me no where, I decided to seek a trainer who could help me get on the right rack physically;someone who had extensive knowledge of the human body. Among my issues is spinal fusion, and a damaged disc in my neck. Scanning YELP, I found Amy's name and decided to take a leap of faith and set up a session with her. From the moment I spoke to her on the phone, I felt at ease. So warm and easy to talk to, I knew I'd found my trainer. Our first appointment was to discuss my health history, exercise history, etc. During this appt. I revealed another difficult part of my life - anorexia, 38 years old. I could not believe how compassionate Amy was, and again, how knowledgeable. Amy basically reshaped me. In so many ways. The workout she devised for me was designed to address the difficulty I had with certain areas, and help me get in touch with parts of my body I had long ignored. I wouldn't call Amy a "taskmaster", but she definitely knows how to keep the workout "en pointe". I have seen my body begin to respond to the workouts, and although I still have a ways to go, I'm seeing changes. Positive ones. Positive and upbeat describe Amy perfectly. I never felt like I was "too much", in fact, I was inspired to do more. And still am. I took a chance the day I called Amy, but it's one I am so grateful for! No matter what physical condition your body is in, I know Amy is the trainer for you! read more
