I have been a patient of Dr. Huang at the West 57th St location for several years. Dr. Huang is thorough, extremely knowledgeable, detail-oriented, kind and supportive. She showed me empathy and genuine care, listened to my concerns, and offered recommendations. She is efficient and makes sure your questions and concerns are addressed. She also always responds quickly to online messages, which is so helpful when something comes up. Dr. Huang is extremely good at what she does. I have been going to Dr. Huang for just short of two decades! Leaving a review now because I recently recommended Dr. Huang to a friend and they came back stating how she had such a low rating here. I am surprised! I've been through a few offices with Dr. Huang and the scheduling, length of appointment and reception ebbs and flows in service but the current set up is a solid office and wait time the last few appointments hasn't been more than 15 minutes. This doctor seems to care just about the money and will triple book so it's a drive by appt. She loves to make multiple visits to charge insurance rather then doing it all in one. She rushed me through my visit maybe 3 min and wouldn't explain why should couldn't do another procedure unless I booked another appointment. Her explanations were so off the mark because she wasn't even listening to me and cut me off multiple times bc she was rushing to get out. She will not provide any medication until results are in no matter how uncomfortable you are. There are way too many good doctors to accept this type of care and I refuse to take part in insurance fraud. read more

Want to lose a lot of money? Time? Expose yourself to tons of radiation? Read on... NOTE: This is the same "doctor" who works for Mt. Sinai on 200 W 57th St. I only went to her because her availability aligned with my work schedule. It's admittedly my fault for not researching online first and finding the endless trail of 1-star reviews. I went for a routine OB/GYN exam... and despite the exam going just fine/no unusual findings, the fact that I'm young, have no known genetic disposition to breast cancer, and I have virtually no family history of breast cancer on either side of my family at all... she refused to give me my birth control prescription without a mammogram. Mammograms are not mandatory; holding a patient's medication as ransom over one is not only inappropriate; it's actually illegal. There are many reasons why people choose not to have one earlier in life (breast density/false reads, etc.). So if you go to this "doctor", be aware that if you don't want one, you'll be (literally) forced into the position of either 1) having to stop taking birth control (because she refuses to write your prescription), or 2) paying $300+ out of pocket to see a different OB/GYN so you can get the prescription you were entitled to get in the first place. What's more, I'm now finding reviews all over the internet, dating back several years, that describe similar inappropriate "bullying" behavior by Huang. (Check out the reviews on Yelp alone for a colorful sampling.) It is interesting that Mount Sinai has allowed this behavior to perpetuate despite how much it damages their reputation over time. (I would never go to Mount Sinai again based on this bizarre experience/how it's been handled/the experiences of the other patients I've since read about, nor would any of my friends/colleagues.) And now I need to waste time escalating my case to a higher entity just to get my medications. Absurd. read more

This review is for her office on West 57th St. I was seeing an OB/Gyn on her office who left the practice to move to Florida. I made an appointment with a new doctor in that office, which happened to be Dr. Amy Huang. I get a phone call only hours before my scheduled appointment informing me that Dr. Huang will not accept new patients? Why am I finding this only hours before my appt? Did Dr. Huang look at her schedule for the day and decide that morning that she didn't want to see me? What kind of doctor does that? What kind of obstetrician does that? Where are her ethics? Needless to say, I do not respect her at all and her staff needs to be informed of these types of 'policies' of hers that seems to be arbitrarily made and at the most inconvenient of times. read more

I was billed for an annual exam of $250 after they said they accepted my insurance. She then called me to inform me that she couldn't run the tests and I would have to go to their testing location to get it done myself. However, I received no such information. Only a bill. Amy Huang is a nightmare and a chaos in it of herself. Stay away- this place is crazy. read more

Save yourself. I called the office to ask my regular OBGYN a question, only to find she had moved to FL months prior. The office recommended Dr. Huang. She wouldn't answer my (very simple) question over the phone without seeing me first. Annoying but fine - she doesn't know me. During the appointment she gathers medical history. She becomes notably frustrated with me when I don't understand a question and the later in the appt insults me. After discussing some options she gives me a little examine and I leave. I cancel the appointment I had with her for an annual and proceed to find a new Dr. recommended by a friend. In the meantime my birth control prescription runs out. I call and ask for an additional 2 months and after that I can get a refill when I go to my new doctor. The receptionist takes the message. The receptionist calls back and says she will not give me a refill unless I come in - I had just been there 2 weeks before! I leave another message to have her please call me. The receptionist calls back again and says that she will not call me nor give me a 2 month refill. I send another message to please call me and to remind her I was just there. Yet again another call from the receptionist. She will give me one month but not two. And no, she will not call me back. If she would give me one month then what difference does giving me 2 make? It just felt spiteful. I have never met a doctor with less compassion. She was awful to me. One star is too many. read more

One of the worst least caring doctors I have ever experienced. She was on speed when she examined me. Her behavior was so uncaring and unprofessional that I actually told her during the visit. It did not stop her from talking 95 miles an hour and racing me out the door. I guess time is money and that's all she cares about. read more

Dr. Huang is the best. I'm very picky about doctors and there's a reason she's been my doctor for more than 15 years, even as her office moved further north and my home and workplace moved south. She is smart, talented, thorough, experienced, compassionate and communicative. She stays on top of current research and clearly loves her work. In short, she cares about her patients and has the respect of her peers and patients because she is that good. Dr. Huang patiently listens, answers questions (multiple times if necessary) and is transparent in her communications. Having a team of doctors and wellness experts I can trust and rely on is important to thriving in this big, sometimes-crazy city. It's a huge comfort and relief to know that you have a champion who knows you, is an extremely capable medical doctor, and cares about you when you're dealing with the huge maze of health insurance, hospitals, new specialists and situations, changing rules and regulations, etc. (Note: over these 15+ years, I've never had any billing problems with her office as 2 other yelp reviewers have reported ... but, as with any credit card transaction, you can just contact your credit card company and they'll investigate the mis-charge for you and issue a credit on your account in the meantime. A nuisance, yes, but not a big deal in my opinion.) read more

I wouldn't trust this doctor (or her nurses) to make me a cup of coffee. What makes her so untrustworthy you ask? Her inability to remember (or have on file) previous prescriptions written to me. When it was time for my refill - she refused to write a prescription, insisting I must've used another doctor (she's the only doctor I've had). That was the kicker. Amy is one of the best doctor's I've ever had if not the best! I recently had surgery with her and she walked me through every step of the surgery in the months prior and even set up appointments with me the week before just to go through everything again so that I felt completely comfortable and prepared. She is extremely thorough, experienced and intelligent and has one of the best bed side manners I have ever experienced. I was so nervous on the actual day of the surgery she held my hand the whole time until I went under and did such an amazing job. I can't thank her enough she is doing great things in this world and helping people one patient at a time. As others have written, I was seen at the 57th St office. Less than ZERO rating is deserved. The only concern that they have here is $$$$$. Period. I have never experienced anything quite like this: they want a credit card on file so that any remaining balance from insurance payments (& believe me, there will be--grossly high billing) can be immediately deducted from your credit card without your knowledge and even before you receive the bill or even an EOB from your insurance company. If I in fact owe a remaining balance after insurance I will pay it as I always do (& most patients do), but there is never a need to use unprofessional & sketchy tactics! Scary--stay far away. It doesn't even matter if the doctors clinic skills are good, no one wants to feel like a $$ collection when you are worrying about your health. Did nobody ever explain to this doctor that caring and solicitous bedside manners are part of being a doctor, especially a gynecologist? After my previous gyn left for Florida I had to find another one and obviously made a wrong choice. I went to see Dr. Huang for my yearly check-up and she raced down all the routine questions, barely pausing for breath and just crossing of the questions on her client sheet. It was the fasted routine check up I had ever experienced and not one word was exchanged besides the questionnaire. I am just thankful I have no medical issue, otherwise I dread to think how it would be if I actually depended on her explaining and caring. That was my first and last time with her. read more

I've been under the care of Dr. Huang for less than a year but she has helped me in various ways, most importantly performing a procedure that I had been avoiding. I was very nervous about having any type of procedure and had delayed it. But it went very smoothly and I felt very well taken care of my her and her team. I've been impressed by the level of personal attention she has provided (she called me the day after the procedure to check in and tell me results). She is clearly skilled which I could tell from my first meeting with her, but what I learned over the next few visits is that she is also compassionate and warm. Dr. Huang was a nice doctor, the reason I give the lower rating is because of some unnecessary tests and visits she made me do, it wasn't until much later did I found out that my insurance doesn't cover that. I was made to go back every 2 weeks for 3 times in a row, initially, I thought it was routine check-up, considering that I'm pregnant at the time. But later I saw the bill and it's not part of regular prenatal visits. We didn't even do much at those check-ups, just ask simple questions and a quick ultrasound to make sure things look right. And fast forward, two months later, the bill showed up to be almost $400 each and I have three of those which add up to be $1200. It's not cover by insurance until I fulfilled the deductible. But seriously, I find it absolutely unnecessary. If I know earlier, I definitely would not schedule for those visit cause it's not routine prenatal. I think they just wants more visit from me to bill my insurance. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Amy Huang's for more than a decade. She's an amazing doctor who is attentive, compassionate and makes time for all of her patients. She put me at ease during every stage of my pregnancy and calmed my nerves. For example, rather than overwhelming me by telling me about all of the tests I needed to take, and preparation I needed to do for each trimester, every time I saw her, she would give me 1-2 things to focus on in an easily digestible way. She always made time to answer my questions, and would make it a point to ask me if I had any questions or concerns. Her positive attitude is amazing, and she truly cares about her patients. She spends an equal amount of time with her patients who visit her for regular gyn care, and those who are pregnant. Unfortunately, I had to switch practices three weeks before I was due, because I was not comfortable with one of the doctors (Dr. Rhee) who might have been on call during my delivery, who was part of the same practice as Dr. Huang. It was a really disappointing turn of events, However, I did hear Dr. Huang is joining another practice soon, and will no longer be partners with Dr. Rhee. This change sounds great, and once I'm back in the city working, I will definitely utilize her as my doctor. read more

I loved Dr. Huang and went to her for 4 years BUT her new office on 37th is an absolute nightmare. They mis-billed me not once but twice. I spoke to a rude physicians assistant named Naomi who told me it was my fault for not knowing my coverage and then she hung up on me! I have spoken at length with the insurance company who say it has nothing to do with insurance coverage and everything to do with the way I was billed. To make it worse my roommate also had a similar experience with the new office. I am horrified because I have recommended a ton of people to Dr. Huang. I will never use her again. BEWARE, unless you would like a $500 bill for your annual women's wellness exam. read more

I love Amy but no choice had to come here to complain her billing team. Like everyone else here, i got billed for the visit that's routine and had to call her billing team every single week to follow, they admitted that there's box checked by mistake and had to resubmit my case to the "insurance rep". I waited again for weeks, i received a letter from the collection services. so i called them again, now her altitudes and explanation all changed, said she cannot do anything, i supposed to pay the bills, etc. There 4 bill I received total over $300 for the visit which supposed covered by my insurance. I had no choice but to pay the bills. My friend recommended Amy and I think she is great. I had to change a doctor next year because I do not want to deal with this nonsense. read more

Dr. Huang is one of a kind. She has been my OB/GYN for 3 pregnancies. She is dedicated, professional, available and encouraging! She does not rush through appointments, makes you feel comfortable and answers all your questions thoroughly. She always returns your call promptly whatever time of day or week it is. I was also double billed by her for an annual exam. I thought it was a mistake, but the insurance company said it was due to the billing codes. When I called the office to complain, I was told that I actually had two visits in one. (Apparently, if you ask a question at the exam, that counts as another visit with her. The total visit lasted less than 10 minutes, so that must be some sort of a record.) When I told them it was unacceptable, they said they would check and get back to me. I heard nothing and stopped receiving bills. Three weeks later, I get a call at work threatening me with collections over less than the cost a cheap dinner. Dr. Huang is fantastic. She's been my OB since before my first child was born. She's seen us through two beautiful babies. She's progressive in allowing/encouraging for birth plans that aren't typical (I find many doctors resist food and rink though labor, different positions, etc). The waits can be longer in the office (20-30 min) - but I find that's the case with most OB/GYN offices in the city (with good doctors). read more

I could not in good conscience recommend that Dr. Amy Huang deliver the puppies of a pregnant dog. At my eight month pregnancy checkup, I asked a few standard questions about delivery (e.g. are epidurals necessary), because I wanted to try for a completely natural birth (which eventually came to pass, btw). I guess she found my questions to be a threat to her authority, because she replied and I quote, "I am the captain of this ship, and, if you don't like it you can leave this practice now." Well, I wasn't going to argue with someone who was so shockingly set off by such innocent questions and who didn't even address why the content of my questions made her so angry. So I left and found another practice (not an easy thing to do at eight months pregnant, I might add) Before this ridiculous encounter, I had found her bedside manner to be lacking, but this response was completely uncalled for and did not engender any confidence in me that, once I was in labor, I would have a rational "captain of the ship" delivering my baby. read more
