We used Amy Cakes for the first time - and they were incredible. I had communicated back in March our needs for 2 half sheet cakes (one for an Eagle Scout cake and for a graduation - both with different color schemes). Within a day or two they responded, and I paid the balance, which was very reasonably priced. The week of the event, I asked for confirmation for my order via email - that was seamless. When picking the cakes up, they were well packaged. Stiff board, vented box (so the icing didn't run), and decorated cakes exactly like I had ordered. We cut into the cakes the next day - and they were SO fresh. I ordered one in marble and one in white/vanilla. It was like they had just been baked. Thank you for making our events memorable. We will definitely use again. Tip for other people: Always communicate weeks or months early for your expectations and you should be pleased (May and December are very busy months for bakeries). read more

Amy's just moved into a bigger space. Easy to find, street parking, and right around the corner is overflow parking for downtown Miamisburg. I did have to park in the overflow since I cannot parallel park lol. But anyways it was a quick 2 minute walk. The inside is much bigger than the old location (both are/were amazing) simply decorated, and a display showing off the yummy treats. I didn't get many pictures since I did forget my phone in the car. Pricing is on point and a variety of items to pick from. I did stop in for the shark cookies and the shark cupcake since it is shark week. The cupcake so moist with a surprise filling of a tart Raspberry to give the cupcake a great balance on tart and sweetness. The icing is so light and delicate tasting. I could probably just eat this and be fine lol. The cookies is also very soft and moist think of a woopie pie maybe texture. Again again and not to sweet. The icing to coolie ratio was also really good. The lady that helped was really nice and checked me out quickly. I will definitely have to stop back In soon where I can get more pictures. We used Amy Cakes for our wedding cake and cupcakes and they did a fantastic job! When we first to went to the shop to taste some of the flavors and the cashier was very helpful in answering all of our questions and getting us sample cupcakes. The shop is also very well kept and clean. When actually placing our orders, we were emailing back and forth but they were always quick to respond and made the whole process easy for us. We ordered 4 dozen cupcakes and a small wedding cake for us to cut. The cake was red velvet and the cupcakes were a mix of white wedding, strawberry, and chocolate. They do not have delivery, but it was easy to pick them up the day of the wedding on the way to the venue. The only small hiccup was the cake was suppose to have sunflowers on top, but when we got there it was plain. We explained we had ordered sunflowers and they were able to put them on there within 10 minutes. When I saw that AmyCakes was selling holiday cookie decorating kits with fresh cookies, I knew I had to come out. Store-bought holiday decorating kits usually have hard, gross cookies and not-good icing. When I saw that AmyCakes was providing a professional alternative at a reasonable price, I sent out an e-mail, put in my reservation for a kit, and stopped in to get one. PROS: -The holiday cookie decorating kit I purchased was *perfect*. I wanted to use decorating tips with my set, so I just squeezed out all of the provided icing bags into my own icing bags. The kit came with everything you'd need for delicious holiday cookie making too. The cookies were super fresh (and soft!), the icing was the perfect consistency for lining and detailing, and it all came in a nifty, easy-to-carry box. There's absolutely no way any store-bought make-your-own kit would have tasted this delicious after we were done. No way. It's likely that AmyCakes just bagged up what they'd use for making their own in-store treats - so professional quality and good stuff. -The employee was super nice. Not only did she provide all the instructions for making sure the cookies stayed good until we decorated them, but she was okay with me taking pictures and answered my questions about the business. Super friendly gal. -The stock of treats, at noon, was very well-filled. I don't think there was a single treat that was out-of-stock. And they have a LOT of different treats. If you have a sugar craving, this is the place to be. -The interior is pretty adorable. I didn't see any public restroom, but they do have a couple two-person tables. It's spacious-feeling, and it's nice and brightly colored. It was a pleasant store to walk into. CONS: -I bought a couple cookies and a macaron while I was there. I took them home to eat. The Macaron was hard enough that it was near-impossible to eat (I've never had a tough-to-bite macaron before?) and the cookies were pretty crunchy too. The cookies were within "crunchy cookie" parameters, but they were definitely a lot harder than expected. I'd probably try a cookie again, but I'd never try another of their macarons. -I'm sure it was partially the holiday season, but they were slow to respond to e-mails. This is one of the worst managed establishments I've ever dealt with. My fiancee went 4 days earlier to order two cakes for a Mother's Day picnic. When she got there, she was told that you couldn't order in person; it has to be done online. So she ordered from her phone while at the shop. I arrived 4 days later to pick up the order. They couldn't find it. I was asked multiple times if the order could be under a different name. They got the same answer each time. I even wrote down the name on a piece of paper. Still no order found. Them I was asked if my fiancee called to confirm the order. Why would she make a call when the establishment couldn't take an in-person order. The shop had no extra cakes to help, so now dessert for our picnic is ruined thanks to the ineptitude of this business. I would highly recommend you stay away from this business. read more

AmyCakes is a place that my family and I visit often. Every holiday I am always placing an order (even during the Superbowl). Unfortunately, I placed an order for a birthday cake with enough pictures attached to understand what I was asking for. When I picked it up it was in a box and at first glance, I was a little caught off guard, but I thought when I got it out it would be fine. When I got home, and I got the cake out of the box it was nothing of what I expected it to be so much I was in tears. This had been a cake I had saved months in advance and was so excited for. Even people at the party made comments and laughed about the decoration of the cake. I sent an email that night providing pictures of what I asked for vs what I got. On day two after sending that email, I finally called. I was given that I should had said something when I picked it up and that it is up to the decorator to decided how it's made and since it was two days later nothing could really be done other than 20% of next purchase. Which I had emailed the night of pickup but never got an answer back till I had called. I'm so disappointed in this cake and the money I spent on it to look the way it did. Not one person I have asked has had any good things to say about it. I had high expectations from there. ALL my cakes have been amazing. I am shocked that they are ok with the outcome where I would be embarrassed to have my name associated with the cake I received. Don't waste your money on this boxed cake bakery... Recently for my birthday, I had a dinner planned for my husband, children and my mother. She was kind enough to pick up some treats for us all to enjoy. Amy Cakes was chosen because it is closer to my house. She ordered a little bit of everything they were offering... some cupcakes, dessert bars, and macarons. Very disgusted and disappointed with each item. First off, it's apparent that this bakery sells nothing fresh. Instead they must keep everything in a freezer and thaw out upon selling. One would expect to be greeted with delicious smells of confections as the box is opened, but instead we were hit with a very unpleasant freezer burn odor. Not only did it smell that way but each item tasted of nothing but freezer burn and was incredibly dry and hard. Each of us couldn't spit out our bites fast enough, and this was the case with everything in the box! The bars were sloppy looking; very uneven toppings and fillings. The cupcakes tasted like they were made with a boxed cake mix, very bland and little flavor. The"macarons" were the biggest disappointment for me, as this is my favorite cookie, and hoped to enjoy. These were the worst I've ever had. First off the shells were so over baked. Usually macarons have a nice soft chewy texture, but these were dry and crumbly. Second these were filled with a heavy buttercream icing that was so sugary, it took over and that is all you tasted. Typically a macaron is filled with a creamy ganache, allowing the incredible light taste of the almond meringue cookie to shine through. These were an over baked sugary mess. Their prices are waaaayyyyy to high for the product they put out. It's bad enough to come across one item not up to par, but to have every item purchased taste that disgusting is a shame. I tried to call the bakery to let them know in hopes for a reimbursement, but they were closed. I called back on a day they were opened and was put on hold so long I hung up. Frustrated, I threw all the treats away, as they were completely inedible. Please people don't waste your money on this place! read more

However when I was advised it would be butter cream I envisioned the ones they show in their web site. However my daughter picked up cookies that looks like something I could have either done myself or got from Kroger for ten bucks. I had a crazy busy weekend and our teen foster daughter's (her first birthday to celebrate with us). She literally never had a decent birthday with a cake and presents. My husband told me to buy a cake instead of making one. So I ordered a $70 cake that literally split apart on a 30 foot, slow, walk from the car to the door. As I was walking I felt the cake shift. I was so excited and hopeful about my first order from Amy Cakes, however I am so disappointed in the outcome. I placed an order 6 days out for a dozen, custom 30th birthday cookies. I'll preface this by saying I have zero experience in freshly baked goods, hence my ordering from a professional. Upon receipt of my then gorgeous order, I was told that I could place them in ziplock bags if I wish for longer storage but do not refrigerate. I took them home in the massive box and needed a way to minimize the bulk of the box in my tiny kitchen, so I decide to place them on parchment paper on a plate to stack, so I could lovingly present them to the recipient of the sweet the next day. MUCH to my chagrin and surprise, the icing started to peel off and 3/4 of the cookie designs were completely ruined. Obviously I made a grave error in my choice of stacking, however, I was not made aware of the state of fragility of these cookies. Saddened and frustrated, I reached out to them and showed the photos to let them know it would have been nice to know this piece of information. I feel had I even put them in ziplocks I may have still run the risk of ruining them since the frosting was all still very wet. Their reply was appalling as they placed blame on me for not knowing not to stack. Their words, "Unfortunately we cannot predict all things that people may do when they get home with our items - as there are so many factors to account for. Placing them into an air tight container or into a zip lock bag would not have caused any type of issue if left flat like they were in the box." And that had I simply followed their instructions of placing them in ziplock, they would have survived "if left flat", which was the crucial piece of advice left out. Regardless, this review could have been 100% avoided with a very simple, "Oh no! We are sorry, what can we do do make this right?" as a first response. Instead was immature and defensive so I proceeded to ask for a refund. Needless to say, more blame was placed on my lack of fresh cookie knowledge as they delivered "perfect cookies" and they finally offered a partial refund. To me, and what I said to them was this, "a perfect cookie upon pick up would have been a dry cookie, or a *well instructed on how to care for such a delicate product as they turned out to be* cookie". A "perfect cookie" would have also been a cookie delivered with integrity. The gist is this was careless customer service for something so small and so easy to fix. read more

I did not receive what I ordered. It took 2 weeks to get a refund (which was partial). Finally received an email stating i, the customer, was wrong. On January 9, 2018 @ 12:04 pm I went into Amy Cakes to place an order for my daughter's 1st birthday. I ordered (with Amy) a smash cake with turquoise blue frosting and gold writing. I also ordered 12 orange color frosted ,vanilla cupcakes & 12 turquoise blue frosted, chocolate cupcakes. I arrived on February 9 @5pm to pick up the order. The order was wrong and before I stated it was wrong the employee (unknown name) TOLD ME they were wrong and "hoped it was ok". All the cupcakes and the smash cake was frosted a dark teal, almost hunter green color. She said "the order says orange but I didn't know what was suppose to be orange so would like us to use some orange sprinkles instead?". I said, "no because that is not what I ordered". So she told me she would take the vanilla ones and redo them if I could wait about 5 minutes. So I agreed to that because I was in a hurry to get set up for my daughter 1st bday party. She took them in the side room, SCRAPED OFF the dark teal/green icing and topped it with a pastel orange/almost peach color. She brought them back and asked me to sign a contract stating I would not ask for Refund once I left the store with my purchase. I really did not have a choice as I was on my way to my daughters party. The cupcakes still had dark teal/green frosting ALL OVER them along with the orangey color (and all over the container, which made it so messy to carry). We took them home and ate them because it was party time. I answered a billion questions that night such as "why do they look like that?". I promptly sent an email to Amy Cakes and Cookies on February 9 @ 6:45pm. I stated exactly what the problem was and I even stated I was aware of the contact. I also told her that she should have iced new cupcakes instead. I asked for a full refund anyway because she obviously did not follow through with the correct order. She did not reply to my email until February 12th. And to my knowledge it was not Amy(or whomever the owner may be) responding it was another employee. They stated,"I am sorry that your order was not taken correctly, and therefore not done correctly in the first place. This is not typically an issue that we ever have and I am so sorry that it happened with your order, I'm sure it was an inconvenience that you were not expecting. Because of the original mistake and then it not being corrected properly, I would be happy to offer you a partial refund for your order or a store credit - whichever you prefer. Again, I am SO sorry about your experience - we never want to disappoint customers on the day of a big event, especially a first birthday!". It all sounded so good, right?! I replied shortly after and told her that was fine. I sent another email on the 20th because I had not received my partial refund. My email stated that I would be down soon to discuss my FULL refund since no one has taken action or updated me. I told them the were a joke and should be embarrassed. Whomever replied to my last email decided to be not so customer friendly and that sent me through the roof. "The owner had a death in the family and has been busy. Wehave never had such a horrible experience with a customer" and then began to tell me my refund was given and to take any other issues up with Square. VERY POOR customer service ALL THE WAY AROUND. So yummy, large variety, good pricing! A family member had recommended we try this place, and SO glad we did! The store is so cute, and clean. The staff was very friendly and fast. They worked with us on a design for a smash cake for my daughters upcoming birthday party and even took the time to go over all of the options to really personalize it. We sampled a few of the specialty cupcakes (there were so many to choose from!), a couple Of the buttercream sugar cookies (these cookies are HUGE!), and a royal iced cookie. For the cupcakes, we tried the carrot cake, buckeye, and the confetti cupcake. They were all delicious! The carrot cake was my favorite- super moist, perfect icing paired with it, and the cake itself had so much flavor! For the sugar cookies, we sampled one in the store and loved it so much that we took two more to go! We are getting a smash cake (unicorn of corse!) and cupcakes for an upcoming birthday party. I ordered a cake for my sons 7th birthday. Party was scheduled for Sunday and I went in to pick up the cake at the pickup time of about 5pm Saturday. They couldn't find my sons cake. Waited for about 20 minutes just to be told the order was misplaced. All I was offered, by the owner because that's who the lady working called, were plain cupcakes. Not even enough to feed the number is kids coming to the party. They couldn't even offer me a plain cake with "Happy Birthday" written on it. My son asked for nothing on his birthday other than this specific cake and design. Went to Walmart and Kroger hoping they would have something. Ended up driving by Ele with a small prayer and I went in 10 minutes before closing and not only did they allow me to order a cake for early pick up the next day but they got the design my son asked for. I am a baker. What does a baker do when she hears about another amazing baker with an amazing bakery?? She of course goes and pays a visit! Had to take my son on a trip to Centerville to AmyCakes and Cookies Bakery. A bit of info for all of you, Amy was on Cupcake Wars and did an amazing job and she now owns this amazingly quaint little bakery in downtown Centerville. I walked in and of course the smell was intoxicating...I mean come on..it's a bakery!! Was amazed to see how many flavors of cupcakes Amy had on display. It ranged from cookies and cream, Buckeye, peanut butter and jelly (oh yes I got this!;)), the list goes on. I'd say she had a good 11-14 different specialty flavors of cupcakes in the display. The price was out of this world. I got 4 cupcakes and two cookies and my order was $16 around. And this is for specialty!! She also offered ice cream sandwiches made from her own specialty cookies!! She also makes all specialty cakes, cheesecakes, bars, cake pops and balls, brownies, Buckeyes, candies, and also does platters of your favorites! I was blown away by what she had to offer and let me just say, I took a bite of each thing I bought and wow! You can taste the homemade which to me as a baker, is extremely important.
