I cannot say enough good things about AGB. After the showcase my son received various callbacks to meet with agents and has now signed with reputable talent agency. They have real celebrities who have been on Disney/Nickelodeon shows teaching the class, which brings real life experience. Yes, you do have to pay but you have to pay for any acting classes you take and I found their prices in par with industry. With everything it's about the effort you put into and if you're persistent and follow their acting advice you will see results. Not only did the academy teach my son valuable acting skills but they also helped me as a parent through obtaining the required documents for children in the industry. They are currently offering the classes through ZOOM due to COVID but he did get to film a reel in person. We have now returned for advance acting classes for his continuous improvement. Thank you AGB!

I took a chance, signed up, and I'm so glad I did! I had so much fun, I signed up for the next session before the first had even ended. Even then, I found myself looking forward to Tuesdays so much, I rejoined Monday nights as well. Both classes are full of all ages and ability levels. Leela starts off slow teaching the techniques and moves, gradually working up to speed and putting it to music. By the end of class, everyone is doing the choreography. Leela makes class so much fun. Whether you're looking to learn a new skill, or just something fun to do to unwind once a week, I highly recommend checking out Leela Bellydance!

I had the dancers come out as a surprise and they did about 4 songs and the last song, Anna and I had a choreographed song. Completely blew away my husband and friends and family. Amir is a super cool fella, and I told him that my ex-wife's birfday was a-coming, and she has a big thing for Mr. Vegas Cheeze, Neil Diamond. I've always liked his stuff, but not to the point of spending, say, over $100 for a ticket to see him live. Well, I spent the cash... 10th row seats in San Jose, home of Humvies, fake boobies, and ruff boyz with No Fear stickerz. (Yes, it sounds like L.A., but it's actually San Jose - just think L.A. without any of the nice stuff like ocean, hills, and culture) Anyway, the seats were not cheap - but I know they were waaaay more $ elsewhere - shoot, I checked, fool! It turned out that there are these amazingly-freaking older women who follow Mr. Diamond everywhere, and we were all around them - what a blast! Dude, I gotta say, when the show opened with "America", wow - I still get all goose-pimply now. More than once, Neil's personal body sweatishness flung onto me, as he danced, rumbled and flipped graciously around that stage... oh, such a delicious treat! Needless to say, the marriage didn't last, but I still have such fond memories of that show, and the great tickets that Amir got me. Thanks to Golden Circle - good times never seemed so good!

Sharon is one of the most insightful and gifted teachers that I have ever met and helps me and others connect to characters through genuine thought and action. She teaches extensive sensory, relaxation, improvisation and other various techniques to open you up and to trust that you are not only honestly believing but feeling the words and actions that you are communicating. I have been very fortunate to study with many talented coaches but honestly Sharon is the one that has helped me unlock myself through the practice of making strong choices and really bringing my authentic self to the characters that I play. If you are serious about growing as an actor and taking your skills to the next level than you need Sharon - She will get you there.

Ok this review is several years in the making. I held off saying anything for a long time not only…read moreto process what happened to me, but also because - if I'm being honest - my experience here was so emotionally scarring, I was scared of her. YEP. A grown woman scared of a grown woman. That's where we're STARTING. Here's the thing: people like and swear by her. A few people in my class were total devotees and one of them was even famous (tho they had been famous as a child so I'm not sure if she was involved in the initial success, but still). Point is, a handful of students really liked her. So there's that. My first couple classes were ok, mostly because I avoided her wrath which brought someone to tears almost every class. It made it awkward but does give you that "oh I must be good because she isn't attacking me" type confidence. But then my time came up, my number was called (so to speak) and she rained insulting vitriol on me after a short scene where I made a big choice. Did the choice work? Probably not. Fine. Not the first time I've failed onstage. Won't be the last. But did I deserve the literal storm of personal and professional attacks I got after the fact? Absolutely not. For the first time in my YEARS of performing and taking classes all over, I actually cried from something a teacher said. Like, a lot. It was unprofessional and, more importantly, unproductive. I couldn't concentrate after the fact and she kept cutting me off when we would try the scene again, berating with new "notes" which alternated between inconsistent and straight up cruel. Some people might respond ok to that type of "teaching." Obviously, like I said, she has devotees. But I absolutely did not, would not, and have ever responded well to what felt like just straight up bullying. Class went late and was dismissed after she tore me TF down. I was red eyed and shaky for a while after. To her credit, she called the next day to talk about it but I was still processing and didn't know what to say. And, honestly, pretty scared of her. My self esteem at the time isn't what it is now. Now, I would have walked out the first class, the first time she attacked someone. But at the time, I was much more insecure, lost, and desperate for validation. Not unlike a lot of young actors I know. Shortly after this experience, I found another studio (check my other reviews) that was an incredibly supportive environment. I actually felt seen and safe there to fail (which I did plenty and was given excellent notes to actually improve) and actually learned so, so much from those wonderful teachers. Side note, a couple years later I was still getting emails from the studio so I emailed back and asked them to take me off the list and Sharon personally replied with a condescending and veiled attack that her assistants were just doing their job and I was asking too much by setting a digital boundary. Like...ok? I'm writing this so many years later because I hope a young bright eyed eager actor doesn't lose their spark from an experience like mine. Maybe she'll fan your flame. Maybe she'll snuff it. But please hear me that you don't HAVE to put up with this type of acting approach. Trauma doesn't need to be triggered in order to be creative. There are other options out there. Even if you're bad, man, go find somewhere else to make you better or at least make you continue to enjoy acting if you truly love it. And if you felt torn down and hurt and were made to cry and felt weak and stupid because she berated you for crying then continued to personally attack you using manipulative language to make it sound like you (as a person) the problem and it made you question if you as a human have any value...you are not alone. And you do. You very much do. But, hey, an extra star because Vincent D'Onofrio, right?

Then you will understand the "non-business" sense of this scenario. The prices for the rooms are moderate, If your sharing a with another band the large rooms are a decent price but there are no bells and whistles here. Cement floor covered by carpet scraps, there is no "sound proofing" in the rooms. If you have a full band rehearsing at the same time as you, you WILL hear EVERY note they play and every hit of the drum set. Not exactly the "solitude" one would want when practicing, studying or just trying to get away for a bit. It does have A/C which should be the norm. in ANY rehearsal lockout, although in the winter there is no heat so it does take a good hour to get your rehearsal room to a comfortable temperature. I will say most of the musicians that rent there are very nice, open minded and fun to talk with. On the downside, there has been multiple occasion when it feels like a few people are living out of the lockouts. The building I was in was clean, and the bathrooms with always maintained. The outside parking area is somewhat safe, Rodney finally got the gate working, although unless you are in a car, plan on waiting for one to exit the premises. There is no "exit' or "entrance' for people of foot, bicycle, etc. The outside lighting is scarce at best, and not exactly the safest place for a female to be, but at least the gate works now. All in all I would say if you are looking for a "garage' type place to rehearse and are looking for the bare bones, R2 Studios is the place. There are TONS of upscale in Los Angeles that offer better amenities, larger rooms, and a better atmosphere but at the end of the day you get what you pay for.
