I came here with my friends during Easter and had a very positive experience here. The restaurant was still very new during our visit, but they operated smoothly. The pastas and flat breads were all delish. The bread was incredible. I ordered the Pappardelle Ragu and absolutely loved it! The pasta was fresh, perfect texture, and the beef ragu tasted like it was slow cooked overnight. It was bold and rich in flavor. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and had a very inviting atmosphere. Service was great! I'm definitely coming back to try other dishes!

Bread for the table seasoned with olive oil and herbs - delicious! (Pairs great with their baked eggplant appetizer)

Experienced an excellent meal here, enjoying two of my favorite italian dishes. The location is a bit odd but there's parking and the picturesque interior makes up for the nondescript exterior. Food: The baked eggplant appetizer (INVOLTINI DI MELANZANE) came fresh out the oven literally still bubbling (!) and was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The seasoned complimentary bread for the table works great to sop up any extra tomato sauce and I recommend getting the side of garlic bread to accompany any pasta entrees. The Spicy Rigatoni sauce was lush and silky on fresh al dente pasta that somehow stayed hot in its serving dish throughout dinner. Our service was great and the space is beautiful. They have happy hours and even date night specials - will definitely be back!

Excellent return experience. Nino is a super server... And remembered me from the last time I came, and even what I ordered! My Hugo spritz was delicious. Music on the patio was a little too loud at first but then they adjusted it for us. The complementary bread comes with oregano sprinkled, so I need to remember for the next time to ask for it without it. (Love olive oil, don't like oregano). My sweetie enjoyed the classic bruschetta and then a grilled steak dish. I got the pistachio pasta which I got last time. It is delicious and not something you can get everywhere. Nino and everyone else was super nice. Keep in mind that on busy days, they get super busy. We came the night before Mother's Day, and they said they had 100 reservations for lunch and 100 for dinner for the next day! But tonight it was super chill and not as crowded as the last time we came on a Saturday night. We ordered cannoli for dessert for my sweetie's birthday, and it was very nice to see on the check that they comped it. Very delicious cannoli, with good quality chocolate chips. The only thing is that you would ask for it next time without raspberry sauce. It might look pretty, but it tastes more delicious just with vanilla, the chips and the shell. Overall, a very delicious meal and we look forward to coming again! Grazie Nino & everyone!

I came here for a small gathering with a group fur easter lunch. Parking is ready and the weren't too packed. First thing I noticed was how adorable the decor is inside. It's decorated to make you feel like you are in a restaurant in Italy. Lots of cute photo ops and beautiful painted walls. Some of the ladies had a great time taking photos. The restaurant had their regular menu and a special pre fixe menu. I decided to order the pre fixe and got the eggplant burrata - this was served foood and it just wasn't what i expected. I didn't really finish it. I also ordered the lobster ravioli which looked like a small portion but was surprisingly filling. It also had a great flavor, not too fishy. The sauce is a cream sauce with fresh tomates. For dessert I chose the cannoli, since it's a classic Italian dessert. It was very good, and creamy, and had chocolate drizzled on it with chocolate chips. Definitely a solid end up my meal. The service was excellent and the staff went above and beyond to help explain things, check on us, and even take pictures of our group. They have a great patio area that's covered, and we hope to host an event at in the near future.

My party of three came on a Wednesday night at 6 PM. We had a reservation but didn't need it since the restaurant wasn't entirely full. Parking is no problem, this restaurant is located on the exit of Mercy Rd by the Chevron gas station. Service is friendly, albeit a bit slow at times. Our waitress had forgotten get us bread and our waters were not refilled towards the end of the night. We decided to eat here since my friend had come here previously with a larger party and reccomeneded it. I was also surprised to hear an Italian resturant open up in Mira Mesa. The food however, was subpar. My ratings are below: Antipasti Zuppa di cozze e vongole - Mussels, clams, spicy tomato sauce: (1/5) The shell fish is frozen, not fresh. It has a strong seafood flavor that isn't the fresh brine you typically get. Both mussels and clams were overcooked and chewy. The bread it came with was too doughy. Carpaccio di manzo - Tenderlion carpaccio with arugala salad (1/5): Just slightly thick beef slices with a hard wedge of lemon and a sprinkle of argula. Pasta Pappardelle Ragu (4/5): This was the best dish of the night. Pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and the ragu was nice and beefy. Docked one point because it needed more salt. Asiago Gnocchi - Gnocchi stuffed with asiago cheese in a creamy pesto sauce (3/5): A heavy and oily dish. We added sausage to the dish as our protein. It was just ok. Overall, food was lackluster and a bit underwhelming overall, nothing was exciting for my palette. Glad we stopped by but I don't believe I'll find myself back here.

Came here to try this spot. It is located in the corner of a lot tucked away on Mercy Rd. The inside is quite large and decorated very well. There are tons of tables. Service was quick and friendly. The food was really good. Pastas were flavorful and the drinks were delicious. Would definitely recommend to my friends.

Italian restaurant located in Rancho Penasquitos/Scripps Ranch, in the same shopping center as Chevron & KFC. My girlfriend & I came here for Happy Hour, which is 2p-5p (Monday - Friday I believe). Service was very friendly. The dishes we got were unfortunately just okay. Our pastas lacked sauce & were dry. The noodles were overcooked & mushy. We ordered Spicy Vodka & Pistacchiosa. Also, double check your receipt if you come during Happy Hour because they accidentally charged us full price for the Fritto Misto. They also serve lunch from 11am - 3pm.

Went here to celebrate my wife's birthday. It was her choice and she definitely picked a winner. It was Saturday night and there were plenty of people enjoying the food. Noise level was light casual. Lighting was good-but not overly bright. I ordered their cacio e pepe with sausage and my wife ordered their pasta with clams(forgot the Italian name for it). We also ordered their eggplant biscotti appetizer-again, Italian name escapes me...my pasta was great, I think the pasta was hand-made, creamy sauce. An excellent dish. My wife loved her pasta as well. The appetizer was a good choice. Kind of messy if you're not careful. Had the most authentic tiramisu ever! Made in front of us, and tasted remarkable to say the least.

Decided to stop by this place for dinner with friends. A great option for something more north and not in a busy city area. Plenty of parking and easy to find. The food was great, came in a timely manner. What really impressed me was the service. The servers were very attentive and made sure we were served properly. I went for a dinner to celebrate my friend who is becoming a bride. We had a great time. They were kind enough to give us a tiramisu on the house. There was plenty of seating inside and the atmosphere was very welcoming. I am definitely coming back here. The cheese wheel pasta was a hit, and the table made tiramisu was delicious. Also had stuffed zucchini blossom and a mussels and clams dish. The pasta was cooked to perfection! I love Aldente pasta and that's exactly what it was.

This is a fairly new Italian restaurant in our area, having opened about three months ago. I understand it has a sister restaurant in La Mesa. We've enjoyed lunch here, and we came last Sunday for their Grand Opening party. The food here is quite good, authentic Sicilian/Southern Italian. The Lunch Menu has a favorite dish of mine on it -- Uova in Purgatorio (Eggs in Purgatory). This dish consists of three poached eggs in a spicy marinara sauce with melted mozzarella and green onions, served with grilled bread. (4/5 $18) They have a wine and beer license, but no liquor. So ... cocktails are made with wine-based substitutions for any liquor. Their selection of wines by the glass is nice, and the complete wine list is respectable. The dining room is decorated in blue, white and lemons. There's a small covered patio for outdoor dining, albeit with parking lot views. Service has been very good. During the Grand Opening party, the dining room was packed ... and very loud.

Went to Amuri's grand opening event during which they set up a small buffet table with meatballs, arrancini, and bruschetta. They also offered happy hour prices on cocktails, beer and house wine. Very nice of you Amuri. Thank you. Of course, the place was mobbed thanks to complimentary bites, I guess, so the food didn't last long, but the full regular menu was available which one could order as usual at regular prices. Ratings: Meatballs--3 Bruschetta--3 Arrancini--4 HEADS UP: I had ordered a bellini, which looked and tasted odd. When I asked my server about this, he explained that they don't have their liquor license yet, so they make their cocktails with wine based "liqueurs". The cocktail menu doesn't mention this. Keep it in mind when considering a cocktail. Amuri has some dishes that are very nicely prepared and a very nice wine list. I'll return another time to try more items with the expectation that I'll be able to raise my rating once the printed menu reflects the true nature of the drinks being served.

Had a great dinner on the outside deck! We started with the arancini and artichoke--both were excellent. The arancini are easy to share if you cut them up (pretty big saffron rice balls). For my main, I had the spicy vodka rigatoni with chicken. The pasta was perfectly al dente and the sauce definitely brought the promised kick. Perhaps they could have added a bit more chicken to the dish. The one knock was the complimentary toasted sourdough served before the meal; it was lightly pre-dipped in oil but lacked flavor. I think it would be better served with olive oil and vinegar on the side. Huge shoutout to our server, MARCO, who was absolutely fantastic! We'll definitely be back.

Restaurants and bars filled to the brim. Lack of street parking availability. With that being said, after circling around for a while, I found a free parking spot on the street five minutes away by foot. Ambiance (4/5): While Bencotto has a nice interior, I went with some al fresco dining on their front patio. There are 20 or so seats available right off the street, so it's not a large patio by any means, but it's nice. The weather was a little chilly by San Diego standards, so they had some heaters out there. It always reminds me of Europe when I'm dining al fresco. Service (3/5): A little slow at times, but overall, pretty good. My waiter was friendly, he just could have stopped by a little quicker. Still solid though. Drinks (4/5): They have a nice selection of wine. I ended up rolling with an Italian beer I had never had before instead. It was a lager and they served it with a chilled glass which is always a nice touch. Food (4/5): The reason I came delivered. Their most popular entree is pasta cooked in a cheese wheel. The pasta is in a creamy truffle sauce with mushrooms. No protein but you can add some for an additional charge. I added grilled chicken. What's awesome about this dish is that they cook it for you inside by the hostess stand. So you can go there and see it happening. My server didn't give me a heads-up (shame on him) but luckily, someone at a table close to me did after me, so I joined to see their food being prepared. I also ordered the gnocco frito which is puffy fried bread. You get four pieces and I had never had this type of Italian bread. Not amazing, but it complemented the pasta well. All of their pasta is made in house and you can taste the difference. The cheese wheel pasta was absolutely delicious. I was pumped to cross this bucket list item off my list.

One thing we learned: if you decide to make a reservation here, especially on a weekend night, arrive early to accommodate the time it takes to find parking. The restaurant does not have its own parking lot, it's street parking-only and space is tough to come by. We circled around for at least 15 minutes before securing a spot and wound up a little over 20 minutes late for our reservation. Thankfully, we still had a table set up and waiting for us. It was very busy when we walked in, it appeared as though the restaurant was near-capacity. The restaurant has a nice, rustic charm to it, but I'll admit some of the charm is taken away by the crowd of noisy people. The restaurant space is small with as many tables and chairs that can possibly fit, which inevitably means tables are very close to one another. It would help if the restaurant acquired a much larger space, or if it got rid of maybe 30% of the tables/chairs so that seating could be more spaced-out. Service was initially slow, but understandable considering the completely packed venue. Our servers were incredibly friendly and provided exceptional service. They were patient and informative in answering our questions (particularly about the "cheese wheel"). We ordered the house specialty bread with 3 different spreads as an appetizer, the lamb shank was my date's entree choice while I ordered the pappardelle pasta with short rib. The bread was truly excellent, we both devoured it. My dish was also excellent, the short rib was very rich and flavorful and the pasta was cooked well. I tasted my date's lamb dish, which I felt was bland compared to mine and I wasn't crazy about it. My date seemed to enjoy it, though. We were too full to order any dessert, so I can't speak for their desserts. The food I did try was mostly amazing. We will likely be back, although we might try coming on a Monday or Tuesday night to avoid the crowds and have an easier time with parking.

We were greeted with warm smiles from every employee, asked which open table we preferred, and the staff did everything they could to make us feel like weekly regulars. I loved seeing the hugs they gave their regulars, and I completely understand why people keep coming back week after week. My definition of a great restaurant is simple: great service -- attentive, anticipates needs, and does everything possible to take care of guests -- plus solid food and drinks. This place was a home run, and we will definitely be back when we are in town. We started with the artichoke, and everyone loved it, even our kids. We ordered the chicken parm 10/10, bolognese 10/10, spaghetti with meatballs 9/10, and Pappardelle Al Brasato 7/10. With the brasato, there were a few questionable pieces of meat/fat, but overall it was still a solid dish. The highlight of the meal was the tiramisu. Damn -- it was light, airy, and full of flavor. It wasn't heavy, nothing was dry, and all four of us dug in and devoured every last bite. Loved the place, loved the service, and loved the food.

She had a lot of great energy and excellent recommendations.. We started with the artichokes in Lemon for our appetizer. It was tender and flavorful. For the pasta , we had the boar Papperadella Ragu, which we really liked a lot and we had the squid ink pasta with seafood, which had a really light sauce that wasn't fond of. I have squid ink pasta with a lobster reduction sauce elsewhere which I prefer. We also had the brasata as a main course which went well with the paparedelli.... A few glasses of wine and the profiteroles with Nutella were a wonderful finale for the meal. I would love to try their fish some other night. The ambience is charming, but the restaurant is quite small and it was packed on valentines so it was a little hard to get around the tables. We will be back.
