This review is for the station only. I was in Fullerton and decided that I wanted to meet a friend who lives in San Diego. We decided to meet halfway so I took an Uber to the Irvine station and he picked me up. Initially, I'd planned to take the train from Fullerton to Irvine but the cost was the same for an Uber so I went with that option since it's faster. I waited for my friend in the station. It was clean, warm and comfortable. There were ample outlets I was able to charge my phone while I waited. The restroom was also clean. There was security on-site which was unexpected. She was really nice and made sure everyone had everything they needed. I don't ride the train (haven't done so in years) so this was my first time in a station in a long time. It's nice to know that it's still a viable option if needed.

My favorite part about this station is the ample amount of parking and proximity to the Irvine Spectrum. The bathrooms are also clean. Yay. This station is pretty easy to navigate, which is nice. It's also currently the last stop going south. If you're going to San Diego you will get off here at transfer to a bus. However, this is temporary as the train tracks are being fixed south of Irvine.

Very clean and kept station. Taking a trip to San Diego in about an hour and 40 minutes vs an almost 3-hour car drive, especially on the weekends, is a no brainer. We took the Pacific surfliner and the train was clean and the seats were comfortable. I was surprised to see how many people were taking the train. Lots of single riders so finding seats for two was impossible. This is a great way to enjoy and relax and not have to worry about traffic. Great for a day excursion and not too heavy on the wallet.

If you want to decrease your carbon footprint, chill out, enjoy the scenery, and not have to wait in the infamous California traffic, then taking the Amtrak is the way to go. It is not the most elegant but it is not bad. You can either buy the ticket at the train station or via app. When I was at the stop, there was no service worker there to help w/ buying the ticket but it's pretty straightforward. I bought my ticket for $10.00 for a one way, which I thought was pretty steep, but I'm sure public transportation took a huge loss in sales because it was a hot spot for COVID. However, there wasn't a lot of people on the train and we got to enjoy a whole cart to ourselves! We were also able to bring our dog in a carrying case. She loved it

I am so frustrated. My Handicap Mom took a train from Irvine to San Diego. It broke down in Solana Beach. Her back problems and handicap does not allow her to sit very long. My brother had to go pick her up. I called the next day for a refund or voucher for the inconvenience, especially with the insane gas prices. I was bounced around on hold for over an hour. Nobody helped me. I emailed. Almost a month later, no response. I called again today. Bounced around again. I waited on hold for 2 HOURS 45 MINUTES with nobody answering!!! Is there anyone that cares about treating their customers with respect.

It's a nice transportation hub. I usually come here to catch an Amtrak train down to San Diego or up to Union Station in Downtown LA. The trains are on time if you catch the early morning ones. The evening ones tend to get behind schedule. They have a pretty nice parking structure at this station. You could also catch several bus lines at this location. The restroom has always been kept very clean.

90 minute only? Who stays at the train station for only 90 minute??

Ask the Community - Amtrak Station IRV

Has anyone left their car over 72 hours? We will be just over and I'd had to get towed!

yes, I left mine for 12 days with no problems. Any parking that will exceed 3 days requires a parking permit which is free of charge and can be obtained from the security desk in the station waiting room.

Can I park there while I attend a concert nearby at Five Points?

Yes, parking is plentiful and free of charge whether you are taking a train trip or attending a concert at the amphitheater.

I am attending a concert at FivePoint Amphitheater soon. I'm curious to know if this would be a good uber drop off place with a fast walk to the venue?

It would be the perfect place with only a 5 minute walk to the amphitheater from the Irvine station parking structure.

It was a colorful mini train with a driver in the engine trailing two train cars with two rows each, just big enough to fit a dozen small children. The kids went nuts for this train. There were too many of them to ride at once, but they took turns for the first few rides until some of them started to get bored and returned to the rest of the party. The remaining die-hards, including my son, kept the train full for the remainder of its contracted time. I think it was there for one hour, and my son was on board for more than 45 minutes. The parking lot was small, and the train had a tight route: two loops followed by a dizzying finale of mini-train donuts. The driver moved fast, swerving and accelerating to delight the children. They were all buckled in, with the driver checking himself before each departure, but it did feel a little bit dicey. I am not shocked that this Yelp page is mostly 5-star reviews, with a smattering of 1-stars due to child endangerment. (There appears to have been an incident in September 2017.) My boy and his friends had a blast, though, and no one was harmed by this hour of Trains on the Move. My issue isn't with the train or the event day at all, but with the communication and management behind the scenes. After submitting an online inquiry for an upcoming date, I was immediately overwhelmed by the number of follow-ups -- within just a couple of hours, I received at least 7-9 phone calls, six emails, and multiple text messages. I wasn't ignoring anyone; I was simply in a meeting and unable to respond right away. It got so excessive that I eventually texted back asking them to please stop contacting me so much, as I had received all their messages and would respond once I was available. When I did reach out the next day ready to move forward and asked for the payment link, I was met with complete silence. I called twice to follow up and never got a response. This same kind of unbalanced communication happened during my first experience as well -- overly pushy at first, then unresponsive once I was ready to book. Another ongoing issue is their payment policy. They insist on payment in full upfront, which I've told them before I'm not comfortable with. Like most vendors we use, I prefer to pay a deposit to reserve the date and then pay the remaining balance on the day of service. They were not flexible with this, which makes the process unnecessarily stressful. I really wanted to give them another try, assuming my first experience might have been a one-off situation, but unfortunately it seems to be a consistent pattern. Whoever is running their office or handling bookings is highly unprofessional, and it's disappointing because the on-site team and service itself deserve better representation.

Catching the bus at the UTC Transit center the 101 bus that takes you up through the La Jolla area and the many Campuses of UCSD. The trip is one of the best because with many buses take you to transit center the 101 Bus takes you straight up the coastal highway with the trip the City of Oceanside along the way to the transit and train stations. The train ride that takes you through the many cities on the way back to San Diego with the train ride that takes a little over an hour when you leave the Oceanside Transit Center with the Coaster Train and the Amtrack that share the same tracks the train has to slow when the Amtrack approaches the coaster has to slow and stop and wait for the Amtrack to pass by. The Coaster Train is one of the best rides with the many stations you can also buy tickets for the shorter trips that you may take from San Diego or from the city of Oceanside. Going on the 101 buses from the UTC Transit Center taking that to the many areas and locations along the way you can visit the many areas between the stations. The Coaster Ride from the Oceanside Transit Center is one smooth ride that you can sit back relax and take time to go over work that you may have taken home for many that do take home. The low-cost prices with the many stations that you can transfer over to the many buses take you to the many areas and the Inland cities. As a Yelp Elite Reviewer, the day was one of the best to take the 101 Bus. And have the whole day and still be able to get back to National City certain bus routes do stop at certain times there were many places in the Oceanside and the Carlsbad area that I had never been to before. The many services and buses that service the many areas south of Oceanside and the Encinitas which has so many places to visit and spend the day. Happy Travels to one and all its a great day for a train ride.
