It's part of the new (as of 2023) 'E' Gold Line, a stop on the way from Santa Monica to East LA. Previously, it was part of the 'L' line, connecting Pasadena to East LA, but was changed in 2023. The previous two stops are underground, but this is above ground with the same platform used for both Eastbound and Westbound trains. To enter/exit, you have to cross live tracks. I remember not being particularly fond of this, but have gotten used to it since quite a few stations on the LA Metro system have this feature.

As you exit the parking lot to go up to the platform there is a machine to pay for parking. Yes, handicap stalls have to pay too. Yes, I called metro to confirm. There is a 72 hour max to park here. My wife and I had reason to use this as an exit during a weekday jaunt to K-town. The station was the one of the largest (and deepest) stations that we've visited. Because of the depth of the station, it had escalators in both directions, with each working on this day. It is over 75 feet below street level, with the lowest level platform being for Westbound trains and the middle level being for trains going Eastbound toward Union Station. It's also the last station before the B and D lines diverge (D going further into K-town and ultimately to UCLA in the future, and B continuing to Hollywood). It has the new full length plexiglass saloon style doors, installed sometime in 2025 (probably when the D line was shut down as part of the West line extension). LA Metro is rolling out their 'Tap-to-Exit' program across some of their stations. I thought it was meant to implement variable tolls, but reading that it's to increase security and non-payers. Also for the first time, Metro security came onboard at a stop, and requested that all passengers get their TAP cards ready for fare inspection...have not seen this before for folks REMAINING on the train at a stop.

This is a Metro Green line station at Mariposa/ Nash. A…read moreday- pass to ride the Metro is now $7. It used to be $5 not too long ago. There is not much to do nearby except for nearby hotels like Hilton Garden and Hyatt Place. The station platform in the evening is very cold, so dress warm. The ticket kiosk is on street level. You stand on an escalator and let it take you up to the platform. The concrete chairs on the platform is cold, ugly, and has a butt cheek divider. The floor has some pretty butterflies. Wow!

Second, the…read moreGold Line is no more, and this station is now the eastern terminus of the E Line (it was formerly the the southeast terminus of the Gold Line and then the eastern terminus of the southern half of the severed Gold Line)--new experience and all. PARKING STRUCTURE It used to be free on weekends, but it no longer is. That's kind of annoying, but $3 for three hours is pretty good. There are plenty of parking spaces. You can use the Metro app to pay for parking, or you can use the machine on the first level. If you use the machine, you'll need your license-plate number, so either memorize it or take a photo of it before you go downstairs. There's only one pay station. I believe parking is free from four a.m. to eleven a.m., but I may just be misreading things. You would end up paying way more for parking (and gas) if you drove to your final destination, so don't complain about a dollar an hour. Unfortunately, there's only one entrance to the parking structure, and you have to be heading southbound on South Atlantic Boulevard to enter, so even though the address of the station itself and its platform are technically on Pomona Boulevard, you'll need to approach on Atlantic from the north to park. Trust your GPS in this one case. The elevator is Peesville, USA, so don't use it if you don't need to, and don't touch anything with your bare hands. E LINE If you want to go from East L.A. to Santa Monica for $1.75 (or $0.35 if you're a senior outside of rush hour), this is your stop! I've yet to make that entire trip, but I've now traveled to two Notre Dame-USC games from here. The first time, it was to Jefferson/USC Station to see the Notre Dame women dominate the No. 3 Women of Troy at the Galen Center. The second time, a week later, to Expo Park/USC Station to see the Notre Dame football team punch its College Football Playoff ticket against a defenseless Trojan defense. Atlantic was our starting and returning point on both occasions, and it still scores three stars as a station. They need more fare machines. At the eastern (parking-structure) end of the platform, there are only two. Because the machines are so complicated, this is nowhere near enough, especially at the beginning/end of a line. My other complaint is that the distance from the eastern end of the platform to the parking structure is ridiculously long. I never noticed this before, but then I had never ridden the train with someone who couldn't easily walk long distances before. When the E Line gets extended farther east (all the way to Whittier!), they're actually going to rebuild the platform southeast of where it now sits. I hope they take walking distance from parking to the new platform(s) into account.

New parking rates at this station: $2/day for transit riders (proof via the tap card). Know your license plate number to punch into the kiosk. $3 for public parking (only after 11am) Can pay via credit card or cash at the kiosk. Transit riders can also pay via an app. I suppose it is a changing of the times. An extra $2 plus $1.75 in one way fare is still reasonable enough to avoid the headache of driving and parking in downtown.

Opening in Pomona on Sept 19, 2025, the Pomona North Metro Station of the Los Angeles Metro A Line…read moreis now (temporarily) the North Terminus of the longest metro line in the US. I had the opportunity to take most of the 58 miles (45 of the 48 stops) to it from my home in DTLB the day after its opening, taking a bit over 2 hours. The new area is a platform North of the existing Metrolink (commuter rail) station, connected by a pedestrian walkway. All of it is above ground, with some shaded areas. It uses the new modern turnstiles (plexiglass paddles). But as Metro does during new station openings, rides were free during the long weekend, and all the paddles were in the open position. There were also a ton of Metro employees milling around, hopefully enjoying the socialization and California sun. The station is set-up with one shared platform, with both sides marked as going to Long Beach. It has been really impressive that all the signage (electronic and permanent) had been changed to reflect the end point being Pomona North (instead of the previous Azusa station). The station looked and felt new, and there were plenty of families out using it on this weekend. It was also interesting to people watch as the makeup of people changed while moving from the South Bay, through Central LA and Downtown, across the San Gabriel Valley, and deeper into the Inland Empire.
