I have flown out of the Tijuana airport a few times in my life, the most recent time being last…read moreweek. It was the first time I went to that airport since CBX had been constructed. Hubby and I were headed to Puerto Escondido, which is very expensive and very time-consuming to fly to from the airport in San Diego. However, flight prices and times were much more reasonable from Tijuana. Thanks to CBX, we didn't need to find anyone to cross the border and drive us directly to the airport, especially as our flight departed at 5:40 AM. It was nice to have an easy drop off on this side of the border. Anyway, we were dropped off on the US side, and had pre-purchased CBX tickets online for $50 per person, round trip. I felt that the price was very fair for the staffing and amenities along the way. We had already reserved a rideshare to drive us to CBX, but I saw the secure parking lots and realized that parking there is also a valid, safe option. It appeared that some of the secured parking cost about $30 per day, making it a good option depending how may days you would like to park your car. Anyway, when we entered, there were people guiding us, as it wasn't too crowded at that early hour. You scan your CBX ticket, your boarding pass, and your passport. Then you are able to walk through the barriers. There are escalators and elevators to get to the bridge, and signs stating that there is assistance available for people with disabilities. The bridge was clean and air-conditioned. We walked through customs just prior to entering the Tijuana airport. When I had learned about CBX, I was reluctant. A friend of mine told me that she had walked much further in various airports. It is true. The walk is short and easy Upon coming back to the states, we learned that there were several taco and other food trucks on the US side of CBX, as well as Starbucks and a well-known mall pretzel company. All in all, I am grateful to have a way to access the TJ airoprt in a very easy and affordable way. I plan to continue to use CBX for more affordable flights south of the border.

I used CBX to fly from TIJ to San Miguel Allende 10 years ago, and recently to Cancun. Both times were uneventful, exactly how I like my airport experiences to be. Purchase your CBX pass and parking ahead of time. Parking is priced cheapest in the dirt lot and most expensive in the covered/paved lot. I prefer the Goldilocks of uncovered paved in Lot A up front. Upon arrival, scan your CBX ticket and boarding pass (you can link them and just scan boarding pass as well, but don't need to). Same on the way back.

The service can run a little slow at times, but that's usually understandable because it does get busy during peak hours. Even with that, the staff is friendly and they do their best to keep things moving. If you're looking for a place to sit down, relax, and enjoy a good meal with family, this location is definitely worth giving a chance.

I hate to give this low of a star rating because this location is usually really good but our…read moreexperience last night was just absolutely horrendous. Part 1: THE FOOD So when we go to Applebee's we almost always get the same exact thing because it tends to be pretty consistent. Chicken wonton tacos, bbq boneless wings, mango iced tea, and sometimes a soda. Last night my girlfriend decided to try the prickly pear iced tea and she didn't like it so we sent it back and there was no issue and I'm very thankful we didn't get charged and I really appreciate that. The bbq boneless wings on the other hand are a different story, they came out and they definitely weren't the bbq flavor. We've ordered this menu items a million times, even earlier this week, so we knew it was different. We gave it the benefit of the doubt though and all tried it to make sure it was wrong and it was. We couldn't get our waitress's attention so I walked up to her and explained the situation and she told me they were the bbq wings and that we couldn't order a different flavor. I asked her to come to our table and she said the same thing that they definitely weren't the bbq wings (wrong). My girlfriend made a case for why they weren't the barbecue wings, color, flavor, sauce consistency, and she took the wings and said she would be back. Less than a minute later she comes back with the same exact plate of wings now with the bbq sauce on it. We gave it a try but the taste of the other sauce was still really strong on the wings so we sent it back and ordered a second order of the wonton tacos which seemed to really frustrate the waitress. I decided to try the quesadilla burger which was fine but I got very little fries on the side, much less than normal. And my friend who just ordered the waffle fries got a really small portion compared to normal on his plate too. Part 2: THE SERVICE We initially were helped by a waitress that was really nice and attentive and was checking in to make sure things were good but then she told us that she was just helping out another server and she was going to be helping us which is cool, love teamwork! But then we had a server that we've never had before which is fine but she was making us really comfortable and was being very short with us and made it seem like she didn't want to be there. She made every question or concern an inconvenience, she walked by asking if everything was good but then turned around and left before we could answer, she brought out wrong food and argued with us, didn't bring any refills the entire time, left empty plates on the table the entire time we were there and just overall was really rude and acted like she couldn't be bothered to do anything. It took so long to get anyone's attention, especially our waitress, that when we were trying to get a refill of tea she said they had already dumped it for the night so we just got water. We were dining there for two hours and for about 90 minutes of that had no drinks. My receipt says our server was Viviana but I can't back that up with her name tag because she was never there long enough to read it. I don't know what was going on last night at the Riverside Applebee's but myself, my girlfriend, and our friend all agreed that we have NEVER had a dining experience like that literally anywhere. It felt like an episode of the twilight zone. It was just wrong overall. Usually this location is a 4 or 5 star experience but I would give a 0 for last night if it was an option. So dissatisfied, disappointed, and embarrassed that I had to give them my money yesterday. If Viviana is working, save yourself the headache and go down the street to McDonald's, you'll get far better service.

FREE tire pump and water tank refils in lot 30, I love it!!…read more It is very easy to become aggravated when things don't go your way, but my experience with TAPS has been decent and fair. I have gotten multiple tickets from TAPS for parking in a section too long. While some TAPS officers are dicks and still ticket people who go are only 5 minutes over the time limit, hey, they are just doing their job. UCR is actually pretty considerate in terms of parking for guests. For example, the paid parking spaces by Glen Mor or lot 4 allow you to add to the parking time limit through an app. Therefore, there should be no excuse when you get cited for going over the limit. TAPS has even repealed 1 or 2 of my citations because I sent them a polite email regarding my situation. The actual office staff has always been helpful to me. While some staff seem like they completely dread being there and show it in their conversation at the kiosk, they get the job done. If you are not dumb and actually follow the rules that the school set up, you will not have any issues with TAPS. You are not doing an act of "justice" to you or anyone else if you deliberately choose to not follow these rules because you don't agree with them. If you compared our situation to the parking situation and "TAPS" at other UCs, you will be way more appreciative of what our school offers.
