Traveling with a group of veterans.... On the trip down, we arrived at Amtrak at 0600 hrs for a departure at 0730 hrs. After arrival, we were told it would be on a one hour delay. We did not board for departure until 1230 hrs. We had multiple delays and and at one point we sat for approximately 30 mins, with no air and no lights. This caused us to arrive 4 hrs late in New Orleans. The return trip left as advised, we had multiple delays along the way, but the worst was the 3 hrs and 45 mins delay, as we sat 3 miles, I repeat, 3 miles, from the Atlanta Amtrak station. We were hot, tired and late meeting our rides. Some of our rides left, a couple stay and one stayed charging a $150 delay fee. One veteran, with severe PTSD began to experience issues while stuck on the train. The only time we saw an Amtrak employee, was when a hateful man greeted our group of veterans, saying that there were snacks and water in the club car, while we had to go get, if we wanted it. The employee wouldn't tell us what the problem was and was very rude when he was asked. He was very unprofessional! He deserves a reprimand. Would not recommend. I would rather ride a freight train!!!! read more
