Overall clean and easy to navigate. The surrounding streets are mostly residential though heading southwards there are more office and commercial buildings. As a busy commuter station mornings and evenings you'll hit rush hour conditions, expect densely packed platforms and train cars on both local commuter trains and the M52 metro line. There are separate entry points for each type of transportation so you need to scan in and out of the respective areas, via chipped credit/debit card or smartphone payment method or QR code. If you pay by card or phone they will charge you by distance depending on where you scan in and out, same for buses and trams. Single/multi-ride ticket machines are also available in the station. Some parts of the platforms are exposed to the outside elements so keep that in mind if it's rainy/snowy. Bus and tram stops are located a short 2-5 minute walk depending on the line you're trying to catch. There's public bike parking underground accessible via a couple entrances with ramped escalators (as compared to normal stair escalators) to accommodate bike traffic. To reach the city center, by metro or tram it's about 15-25 minutes depending where you're heading, by train about 10 minutes to Amsterdam Centraal. To Schipol Airport it's a 10 min train ride.

We were here during the strike in Belgium, so our train to Antwerp was cancelled. We had to take a train down to Rotterdam and then catch the Antwerp one down there. The trains run every 8 minutes to downtown Amsterdam Centraal Station and costs only €5.70 (2nd class) or €8,85 (1st class) each. There are bight Yellow Ticket Kiosks throughout the station. You reach the downstairs platforms, via escalators or elevators in the main hall outside of Baggage Claim & Customs (photo). Trains usually leave from track 1, 2, or 3, eight times an hour We found it to be a breeze, no hassle, relaxing 17 min ride. Btw, if you are taking a Viking or another liner's Cruise, the docks are about a tenth of a mile east of the Centraal Station (see photos)

Go right upstairs to the Schiphol plaza, dozens of food places, restaurants and toilets! Very clean and large. Numerous escalators and ramps to upstairs. Platform 1 is usually what you need to get to Amsterdam.

Not much to review except to tell you that:…read more A) It stops at Ajax Arena, B) Starbucks location at the station sucks and it is tucked discretely on left corner of the station, C) And as usual, there is a nice, small and clean grocery store at this station with decent selections of sandwiches and daily essentials, D) The fast food option is "Burger King" :( E) Three ticket vending machines to buy your train/bus tickets: Two machines inside of the station and one outside and none of those ticket vending machines at station worked with my Visa or MasterCard. However I was able to purchase the train ticket with cash and my ATM. I did not have this issue with the vending machine at the Amsterdam central station. F) Expect a long lines to purchase ticket on weekend or when game is going on at Ajax ArenA. It took me five minutes to buy tickets on weekdays and 18 minutes on Sunday. Once you step outside of the station, you have few decent choices of eatery which are more than decent.

Taking the train from here straight to the airport is a breeze and costs only a few Euros--compare that to the €30-€40 you'd spend on a taxi or Uber! The trains are frequent, and the journey to the terminal is incredibly fast. Business Traveler Perfect: It's located right next to the RAI Convention Center, making it the ideal hub if you're in town for a conference. Easy Connections: Whether you're coming from the Zuid business district or the neighborhood nearby, it's much more relaxed than fighting the crowds at Centraal Station. Convenience: The station is clean, well-marked, and the platforms are easy to navigate even with luggage. Or walk to the Amstel River and see the famous "skinny bridge"!. This used to be a sewer or water plant, since it has some former pipes and big metal doors on display behind glass. There are 4-5 ways out from underground too. A few nice retail shops are here, outside the pay entrance. A small Albert Heijn one store.

This station is pretty dull and basic in terms of station layout, however, my main issue was the station lift. Despite no signs, the lift was out of order and in a very dangerous condition, the lift had no power to it at all, meaning the doors were wedged open, there also was a large gap in between the lift location and getting into the lift, meaning an electric wheelchair would have to be manually lifted out as the gap would be too wide - which in my opinion is dangerous, meaning there is no way to call for help as the alarm wouldn't work either. As I needed to use a lift, I tried communicating with the staff using the help/information button, only to be rudely spoken to by a man, in very broken English who wasn't aware of any issues to the lift and didn't help me - meaning I had to take the advice of a fellow passenger who was really friendly and tried to communicate in dutch with the information team to help me - with no success. I had to get a train to another station at a delay to my journey. Due to issues with the lift which I feel are a huge breach of safety regulations, and the station is quite basic and uninspiring anyway, adding to the awful, careless customer service, I strongly feel this station is one of the worst on the entire network in Amsterdam and warrants a one-star rating.
