I guess it's kind of a typical convenience store--but for Riverwest, where usually nothing's all that typical. They have snacks and beer and a small selection of groceries. But some of the selection is kind of eclectic. The beer selection is definitely way better than a typical convenience store's. When I found a 6-pack of Lagunitas Little Sumpin' Extra last summer I knew this place was kind of special. You can also get the 18-pack of Bell's Two Hearted in cans, which you don't see everywhere. Even the food is a little surprising. Among all the chips and limited-selection cans of soup there's El Rey tortilla chips and Herdez salsas and stuffed grape leaves and little refrigerated carrot cakes and pizzas that aren't Tombstone and so on. A totally interesting item I saw were these little single-serving-size stuffed eggplants (or green peppers) with the ingredients listed in several languages including Turkish. I could see that there was even a small plastic fork included. I was intrigued but I couldn't find, well, instructions. Maybe another day. The aisles are narrow and they don't have hot food. But this is definitely a neighborhood gem. I should come more often. As a Riverwest dweller I'm on Locust St. enough.

Cigarettes are super (like insane) cheap, but things like, oh, I don't know, nuts and Mr. Pibb are kind of outlandish. They sell food here. Nachos, sandwiches, slushies... they even have a salad bar (smart!) and this place is clean as heck. They have free coffee here on Sundays. They have digital scales and rolling papers, I can't imagine what for. Unfortunately, they do not tonic or soda water. (Guess who likes gin?) I'm fine with this place existing.
