My family and I arrived in cancun on Feb 19th. I paid $229 for our own private shuttle to the resort. We were supposed to get right on the shuttle when we landed. We waited almost 2 hrs in the heat. There was 7 of us, 2 were children. No water, we were hot, hungry and tired after traveling for 10 hours. On our way to the resort we were rear-ended. Our driver didn't speak any English. Noone asked us if we were ok. They just called another shuttle and sent us on our way. Upon arriving at the resort i asked three times for a police report. They never gave me the police report. We were all sore and i had a bruise on my head. Ive called three times since arriving back home and ive been ignored. They told me at the resort that i will be fully refunded and that was a lie. Use any transportation service but this one. We had a big, family group and they were a total joke to deal with. Getting from airport to the resort was annoying (split 11 people into two vans despite promising a single van to accommodate all when the booking was made) but relatively efficient. The trouble started trying to get back to airport. We arrived in the lobby 15 mins prior to departure to check out and let amstar know we were ready to go. A huge bus was there which turned out to be our transport as they would be picking up people from many resorts along the way. We declined to let them load our luggage onto bus while we checked out. We were standing at the check out counter, the BUS DRIVES AWAY 5 mins pre-departure. It literally leaves us after we checked in and told the guy we would be boarding after we checked out. He checked us in as though we had gotten on and then freaking left! Such crap! We had to hire an $80 cab to get us to the airport. We ended up not rushing and grabbing coffee and visiting with family for an hour or so. No joke, we passed the bus on the way. They had been picking up 2-3 people from various resorts along the coast (we were closer to town and further from airport) so we would have ridden on that darn bus for nearly two hours. Maybe them leaving us was a blessing in disguise but they scammed us out of 1/2 the price of our transportation and falsely represented what the transportation would be like (the travel agent said "no way" when we verified there would be no group buses with multiple stops... ha!). Worse experience we had with Amstar in Cancun Mexico, not only we had to look for them for 15 minutes, but the wait was ridiculous, we arrived at the hotel early to check in but that wasn't the problem, after checking in at 3pm and finally made to our room I get a call and a text message at 3:27pm from JUAN CARLOS VENTURA introducing himself as a rep from Amstar and that he wanted to meet that day at 3:45pm because that was the only time he had that day to go over tours prices and give a pickup time back to the airport, I told him that we just got in to our room and wanted to relax for couple hours before we can go on our vacation, he reply instantly that had to be done that day because he doesn't come back to this area every day, I said too bad, we here on vacation not to serve your time. we were able of course to buy tours from someone else the next day, and keep going with our vacation, the next day he texts again, and I said I will be out all day on a tour today, that piss him off because I didn't give him the time to buy the tour from Amstar, too bad. the day before coming back home I texted him early said that we planned to be at the resort all day so any time he wishes to come over we would be available, he never replies back all day, so I decided to call Amstar office and try to arrange the time we get pick up the next day to head back to airport, the customer service person told me that we would need to be at the lobby at 5:30am, that was 7 hours before my flight I told her that's too early she said that the only time we have for you sir. I said cancel my pickup and refund my money I will take a taxi back to airport on a realistic time, so we did. we spent $80.00 for taxi to go back to airport and still have no refund for what we paid Amstar for their services. read more

SCAMMERS!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! Paid for private transport and ended up with a shuttle full of people and had to drop off everyone off along the way to my resort. A 1-hour ride turned into a 2.5-hour ride, not including the 1 hour wait at the airport. But that's not the worst of it....... For the return trip to the airport from the SUNSCAPE AKUMAL RESORT, the shuttle driver NEVER called my family's name for pickup and left without us even though we were at the taxi pickup 30 minutes before the scheduled pickup time. The bellmen knew I was there waiting and said nothing. Then the AMSTAR REPRESENTATIVE, ANTONELLA DOMINGUEZ, comes out and does absolutely nothing to help. She was aggressive and rude to me and said I had to find my own way to the airport which cost $85. The pathetic bellman says "sorry not my problem" and walks away. So this nasty ugly Antonella calls her taxi friend (part of the scam) to pick me up and I have a signed receipt that it will cost $85. I get to the airport and the damn taxi driver tries to charge me $150! I said hell no and ran. Worst experience ever with Hotel Lobby Representative. I can't complaint about airport pick up, however, the return trip confirmation was the worst I ever experienced. We arrived to hotel at 2pm and rep was already calling us to go see her at 3pm to confirm return trip to airport. We are tired and hungry, we just wanted to eat and rest while enjoying our pool. We are only here for 5 days, however, understand we are on VACATION. Our phone rings at 8am and I have another gentleman Amstar rep threatening NOT to pick us up and take us to airport if we do not come down in person to confirm return trip and sign the voucher receipt. Really?!!! If you have other transportation option, I highly suggest you go with them. Never had I experience such rude and poor customer service. We have used Amstar in Cancun and Puerto Vallarta and never experienced this type of attitude. Yes we need to confirm but please note that when you are on vacation I do not want to set my alarm at 8am to confirm my return to airport. According to rep he had other hotels to go to and would not be in lobby in afternoon or Saturday (we leave Monday). My review is only based on the rep at our hotel and our experience with confirming return trip. read more

I agree. I would never use Amstar again. They had us leave 4 hours before our flight for shuttle service out of Dreams resort. Now we are here over 3 hours before our flight takes off. When we got here even the airport workers thought that was crazy. I will NEVER use Amstar again. I went yesterday to try and change my flight earlier and they wouldn't do it. We also took an excursion from the Dreams resort yesterday that was AWFUL! Took us over an hour with all the pickups to get to our excursion. We spent more time in the hot shuttle than on our actual excursion. We ordered the extra lunch and the sandwich looked like it had been sitting out for hours. We didn't even eat it. I would highly recommend against this company, I feel totally ripped off by them! read more

Horrible experience with Amstar. Our ride did not show up to pick us up from Barcelona Hotel and we almost missed our flight back. The Amstar representative named Mila or Nila kept lying to us and saying she is talking to the driver and he is just stuck in traffic. Very very dishonest company. When we tried to get a different company to take us so we don't miss our flight she would talk to them in Spanish and not let them take us. It turned into a yelling match. She ruined our whole experience. When we wanted to talk to a manager she laughed and said there are no managers at Amstar. PLEASE avoid this company - the workers are liars and cheats. They should look into the girl that works in the Barcelo Maya Palace. She was horrific and very unethical. Never again will we use this company. read more

DO NOT USE!!! We had a prepaid return transportation booked through Amstar from our resort to the airport in Cancun. We had received an email that stating we were going to get picked up at 0630hrs. However, we received a call at 0545hrs advising that they would be there in 5 minutes for our pickup at 0550hrs. We rushed and got to the front within minutes to find no transportation. We called Amstar and they advised that since we weren't there, the driver went on and the next vehicle could be there at 0900hrs (mind you our flight left at 1010hrs). After talking to the hotel, we found that the guy never even showed up at 0550hrs! So 4 of us took a cab to the airport for an additional $160. I'm so sorry the other Yelpers had difficult experiences. Ours was wonderful and went exactly according to plan! We made our reservations, called 24 hours before our incoming flight to confirm transportation and after getting through immigration in Cancun (not nearly as pleasant of an experience) we found the Amstar team and were on our way!! The absolute best part was returning to the airport in Cancun. We had a private shuttle...our driver parked and walked us into the terminal, did all the work on the kiosk to check us in and check our bag and then got us through a priority line for checking the bag (saved us at least 30 minutes). Short and to the Point..Drivers were great We had Issues with our Party of 9 "Private Trip" (which was not cheap, 4 rooms at $89.00 each) to and from the Resort Iberostar Maya. Upon Arrival at the airport we were told 2 of us were not on the "Private Trip" pickup sheet, but it was eventually corrected, so we thought! At the Resort we reported to IAIN to get our return trip information and once more told 2 different travelers were not listed on our return "Private Trip" to the Airport. He said he would straighten it out and to come back the next day. We did and he assured us he fixed it and we were all set for 12:47. He said he would Email the information, but never did. A day before we left we checked back in and were told our pickup was 12:05 now.. Well 12:05 on our travel day there we sat and met the driver and were told only 4 of the 9 of us were on her list..Back to IAIN we ran..IAIN was not understanding at all, all he kept saying was I told you 12:47, like his word was the Gospel.. so there we sat until 12:47 wondering were we going to all be picked up..But when it did come, we all were on the new drivers list. Not a way you want to leave your Resort. IAIN was not a pleasure to work with at all! He treated you like you were below him and he always had to have the final word. never again will we rust Amstar, Irma in Cancun at the Palace Rue in Cancun. Mexicio lied to us not one but twice. she was very pushy and i told her i wanted a shopping expedition to Playa del Carmen, no problem she says. well she charged us each $129.99 per person to go to Playa del Carmen then on to Cozumel for what she said was a s hopping excursion. she lied. not one minute of shopping. they bussed us there, put us on a boat then another that stopped for smorkeling then a bus for 5 hours to a terrible and smelly beach where the water was not only green but at least 95 degrees for 30minutes then another 3 hours on a bus then back to a boat tthat too kus back to playa del carmen, i asked if then we could go shopping and i was told " no time no time" so no shopping then we were put on another bus back to the hotel and the same driver,both ways talked ion his cell phone for the entire 1 hour trip. it was Horrible. th 2nd tour was just as bad, never again Amstar sucks, in Canucn i was ripped off by 2 stores where i went for sunscreen, it was $14.00 , i gave them a $20 and then gave me back what i thought was 6 dollars but turned out to be 11 cents. never again, done with Cancun. done with Amstar. horrible company, read more
