While the first two receptionists were rude and condescending, a third receptionist was incredibly helpful and sought out answers for the waiting patients. ​Unfortunately, the manager, Tyra Welch, was visibly upset that her staff member went out of her way to help us. I overheard Ms. Welch "talking crap" about the helpful employee to the rude receptionists right in front of patients. When I stepped in to defend the helpful staff member, Ms. Welch became unprofessional and dismissive. Most shockingly, when I asked for her name, she refused to provide it and deliberately hid her badge before calling security on me. ​Kaiser HR needs to provide Ms. Welch with serious leadership training. A manager should be the solution, not the person creating a hostile environment for both staff and patients.

Since I was already in Palmdale, I asked about alternatives, and they offered me a same-day appointment with their Nurse Practitioner. I'm so glad I said yes. The NP was knowledgeable, compassionate, and really took time to listen. She revised my medications and gave me realistic, clear lifestyle guidance. I appreciated her genuine concern and how she educated me without judgment. Before I left, I told the front desk how great the NP was, and they mentioned they have three NPs who are all caring and well-liked. A month and a half later, I returned for bloodwork and a follow-up. This time, I saw a different NP, and the results blew me away: * Cholesterol: 141 130 * Triglycerides: 162 113 * A1C: 8.3 5.8 I was beyond happy--relieved, actually. When he asked the for the meds I'm taking he scoffed and said "that won't do anything for seizures why are you taking that" ... because I was prescribed them..??? We discussed continuous fmla he said he could give me a month and then do intermittent. While they lollygagged with the paperwork I had to call different people left and right so I could get it squared away. They said I couldn't get it because I hadn't had 3 seizures in a month..... except I've had a minimum of 5 this month. Mind you at least 4 happened at work in front of my colleagues, who pushed me to see this man. To be honest it seemed like he felt like I was lying as if I don't have better things to do than to lie about seizures. Honestly if my colleagues hadn't pushed me to go I wouldn't have... for what? To be treated and dismissed like gutter trash when I'm talking and speaking on something vulnerable and real. I asked for a new neurologist which won't happen for another month and honestly by that time I may not bother. It's clear I won't be taken seriously or with honest care. It's a shame I fought so hard to get Kaiser

I switched to Blue Cross and the doctor at UCLA, Dr. Hernandez, got me in right away for a replacement, saying it was urgent. I complained to Kaiser and the chief of orthopedics was obviously angry. When I went back to Kaiser, I broke my elbow in several places and Dr. Woodhouse put in a metal plate and 23 screws. At 6 weeks, still in a splint, as the physician assistant, Jorge, took out the stitches, he said, "you don't need to come back. There is nothing more we can do for you." No physical therapy was offered. I am back at Blue cross, where I had the plate and screws removed and there is still an extra bone out of place. Many other stories about Kaiser, but this was the worst....
