Tried this Indian food truck at an event. I wasn't in the mood for cheesesteaks, burgers or fried chicken sandwiches which were most of the other trucks that day. I liked their menu as it was easy to follow. A few apps, a wrap that you can customize and several rice bowls which are curry based. Fried Tandoori Wings ($6/4*) You get 4 nice sized wings for this price. Generous price as other trucks would want at least $10 for an app of this sized. The wings are marinated but not strongly then it is fried til pretty crisp. No coating and no texture from dry spices but because of the wet marinade the wings get pretty dark in the fry. I actually liked their simple fried chicken; it had a unique flavor, and it wasn't crazy dry. I would definitely get these again. Chicken Tikka Wrap ($13/4*) This is straight up an Indian burrito. Exact same size and look of a Mexican burrito. Large warm flour tortilla filled generously with basmati rice, a light handful of lettuce and a good scoop of chicken tikka masala which I think most people know because it is a popular Indian dish that most non-Indian know/like. A gateway dish if you will. Now all flavors and textures were decent. The chicken was quite tender bathing in that creamy and spicy tomato sauce that totally absorbs into the rice. Lettuce gets soft and wilted from the heat of the other ingredients. Wished there were another element in there to give it more diversity in texture maybe some of their chickpea masala (which you can actually choose as a protein choice). Maybe next time I'll ask for half n half. I also thought that this was going to be wrapped in some Indian flatbread which I think would have made it more special versus just a standard flour tortilla. But for $13 this was still a very filling and flavorful meal. I actually got 2 meals from this hefty burrito. If I run into this truck again I'm going to try the samosas and the goat curry rice bowl. Their prices are better than most and they have a good handle on their flavors. Props. read more

I had the pleasure of trying Ampuli when we had an employee appreciation event for Diwali at my work. I worked with Arun to have him bring the Ampuli truck to our site to feed the employees. Arun was very easy to work with. We were able to quickly determine a menu and he gave a very fair quote for the amount of options he was providing. There were various meat, vegetarian, and gluten free options. Arun and his team at Ampuli arrived promptly and on time for the event. The site was very thrilled with the quickness of service and the quality of food. I was able to try the vegetarian biryani and vegetarian curry. The flavors were great and the food was very aromatic! No complaints at all. I would recommend Ampuli for work events anytime! read more

Ampuli - Indian Near Me - Livermore, California

It was alright. Coming back from a trip, I was hungry and desperate. On the commute home, I considered delivery, but gave up due to all the hidden fees and taxes. I was going to cook something quick at home when to my surprise there was a foodtruck on my short walk home! I tried the samosas and chicken curry. The samosas were not bad. Pretty flaky and flavorful, though not the most packed with filling. The chicken curry was just OK. Not too spicy, but a bit on the dry side. They initially forgot to put my samosas in the bag. The worker in the food truck ran for two blocks to track me down and let me know the samosas were missing. That was certainly appreciated and saved me from disappointment upon arriving at home. It fed me well enough in a pinch. read more

Ate at this food truck while visiting / wine tasting at Concannon winery. It was actually a great pairing with some of the whites and spicy red wines and made for a great afternoon. The menu is a bit limited but the choices were sufficient and the family raved about the cheesesteaks. Very friendly family run place. Hope to see them again in six months at the next pickup. read more

Tried this food truck at the Festival of Globe in Fremont last weekend. I got goat curry ($15). They were nice about giving extra rice when I asked. Goat curry was delish, no complaints there. However, I found an animal hair (presumably goat), and the included flatbread was like the sort of naan or pita you'd find in Safeway. read more

We had Ampuli come out to our event for the 2nd year and did not disappoint! :0) We have a large group and eveyone was very happy with the selection and quality of the food. If you are looking for great South Indian food, this is the truck for you. They can put a menu together and made it very easy for our employees. We will hire Ampuli again for our next event. Ampuli is an Indian food truck with an unorganized. various food groups are just tossed together nonchantly. it's ok if one knows the entrees. pictures are posted but not labeled. offerings: samosa, dosa, popcorn chicken, paratha , biryani, eats: spinach, potato idyll (8.99) with tikka chicken side and yogurt dip -basically it's a thin pancake (ala pupusa) with filling. not so tasty the chicken tikka was da bomb as the yogurt. the patr bombed. read more

We had Ampuli today and they were right on time. Food is yummy and everyone at the party enjoys the food. I love their goat curry rice bowl and their chicken wings. read more

We went when they were stationed at 3 Steves winery in Livermore. It was well worth the trek from SF. We got: Idly-vadai combo Potato paratha Masala dosa Bonus samosas! Like Anju said below, some of the softest idli ever. The vada were fragrant and perfectly crispy. Samosas were super crispy outside but still soft and moist inside. Dosas are usually my least favorite on a tiffin menu but this one made me reconsider. There was also more filling than one typically gets. The paratha was also delightful, as were the chickpeas alongside. Coconut chutney and sambar were both great and there was plenty of both. Highly recommend!!!!!! The owners are also super sweet! read more

Was looking to cater a event. Unfortunately we couldn't use their services as the only way they could make Dosa was odd the truck and we didn't have a place for them to park it. They had a great response time so 5stars for that. Pricing was competitive too read more

Tried the idli - vada at livermore outlet mall, and the idli's were the softest i have had in a while . The chutney was tasty as well.

Do not miss this food truck! And if you have an event that requires catering or food service, you can't go wrong with this amazing husband and wife team. Not only is the food delicious, but they are the kindest people who are so absolutely easy to work with. Planning a major event can be hard, but it was an absolute pleasure and a breeze working with the Ampuli team. We were hosting large, academic competition in Union City and needed food trucks that were available for two full days, offered diverse options, and- most importantly- had great food. We found all of that with Ampuli and I am so thankful! All weekend, I heard from our attendees how absolutely delicious everything at Ampuli was, which is something that was shown by the fact that they had a ton of people lining up to try their items all weekend! The food offerings from Ampuli are delicious, but they also cover all of the bases if you need to feed a diverse group of folks. There are traditional options, vegetarian options, vegan options, gluten free options, and they are Halal. Seriously: I can't suggest this food truck enough. If you're just looking for a good meal-- find them! If you need them for a larger event, you absolutely can't go wrong in reaching out. Thank you, Ampuli! :) read more

Awesome food truck. They have a great selection of south indian and a few north indian delicacies. Great service and the price is great. Try them they're very open to what you have to say for them to create your own personal meal. I tried the crunchy samosa and it tastes better than the regular ones you get at the bazaar. They're now on an app that I use called Trunger which is like ordering pickup for Postmates, but on food trucks. This is only on iPhones though which is ok since alot of us have iPhones. read more

We hired Ampuli for our mehendi for our wedding this past weekend and we loved every part of the experience. We initially found them when searching for food trucks who were willing to come to us on a Friday night and serve a fully customized menu. Arun and Bhuvaneshwari went above and beyond in their kindness and willingness to work with us to make sure our event was a hit. They impressed both the Gujarati and Tamil sides of the family with how authentic and delicious their food was. They served almost 60 people and it didn't ever feel like a long wait. They customized the following menu for us - Vada and Idli (Jain) (Vegan) - Dosa (J) (V) - Vegetable Biryani (V) - Coconut Rice (J) (V) - Green Beans Poriyal (J) (V) Accompaniments: - Coconut Chutney (J) (V) - Sambhar (J) (V) - Raita (J) (V) - Spicy Chutney (J) (V) Beverage - Indian Coffee (Made with organic milk) (J) Sweet - Kesari (J) ( V) They also warned us that dosa would take longer than other things because they needed to make them fresh, but people loved them so much that they were willing to wait the extra time for dosa. Their coffee was a hit on an unexpectedly cold evening, and their green chutney was taken by the container because of how good it was. People went back for seconds and thirds and they kept putting out food of consistently great quality. When we forgot plates and spoons for cake, they supplied them in a heartbeat. Honestly, we got so many compliments on their food and they made the whole event a wonderful success. I'd absolutely hire them again for another party or make the drive out when they're serving food on the weekends; they were incredible to plan with and even better on the day of the event! read more

If you want excellent South Indian street food, look no farther. Service was excellent as well, starting from when I first contacted them. Received a response overnight, Arun called on the dot, and provided details. Since we had not tasted their food and this was a special party, they invited us to a tasting at one of the venues they were catering at. The food was fresh and definitely had the home-made taste. On the day of the party, they arrived promptly and setup quickly. The party was a huge success with the food quality and service with a smile. Price was very reasonable. We are delighted customers and will definitely hire them again in the future. read more

You can always find Ampuli food truck in Food Truck Mafia events. Enjoyed their food a few times at Fremont and in Pleasanton. Probably this is one of the best food truck that serve Indian food. I am huge fan of their Parathas, Dosas and the chicken curries. Try out the potato n spinach parathas, they are really yummy. Masala dosa was ok, but I really enjoyed the Kal Dosa. Tried out Samosas n fries a few times and it was great as well. Their Naan n curry option is really nice and cost effective. Apart from all these, they used to have a lot of items on their menu. And it changes based on availability I guess. One thing you need to expect is the long queue and wait time. But they always try to get your food ready quickly. Its worth trying. read more

I have had the opportunity of enjoying this food truck for the last couple months thanks to them being on a rotation of food trucks at the Embarcadero Cove parking lot (Oakland) every so many Thursdays. This is my third time ordering from them and I've had a great experience every time! I first ordered the Chicken Biryani which appeared to be dry and plain but actually was full of flavor and very delicious! I was surprised to find it was served with a side of Chicken Tikka Masala as a dipping sauce for the side of naan that also came with this dish! That is when I decided CTM would be my next order. Sure enough, when I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala the next time they showed up, I was so glad I did! It was loaded with flavor and the chicken and sauce were the perfect ratio not to mention a hefty portion leaving you feel like you ate a substantial lunch, but without overstuffing yourself. Today I ordered the CTM again and shared a side of Samosas with a coworker. I have to say, hands down, these were probably the best Samosas I have ever eaten. 2-D in shape compared to a traditional Samosa and fried to perfection. The flavor knocked my socks off!! So I am 3 times sold on this truck and the friendliness received each time sealed the deal that I will order every time I see them pull up. I whole heartedly recommend grabbing some food from this truck when you see it! read more

Had the chicken tikka bowl...found myself a new favorite dish! Served with salad, yogurt, and naan: this meal was just perfect as it was not too spicy. I can't eat spicy foods so this was great that I finally found fresh Indian food that can be made mild. I'm sure they can make it spicy upon request. Need to note that the truck looked very clean and the owner was super nice! Definitely hitting this truck again when I see them around Pleasanton/Dublin.
