I truly hope their struggles are cleared because something is truly troubling these cashiers. Ampm is usually my choice to go to for gas as they're USUALLY the least expensive in the area.... But not this one. This gas station is how I found out they're all independent owned and this one is ripping you off. $5.30 for gas....while Chevron, known for being the most expensive, is $5.20...., if you drive 2 miles to the next AMPM gas station, it's only $4.66 Bought a milk and a cup of ice and it came out to $10 dollars. Could've bought a gallon of milk and bag of ice for cheaper. The staff is the only redeemable quality of this store. Most of them are very kind when they DO talk to you BUT the staff still doesn't make up for the price of being ripped off. And the other reviews are correct.... Bum city. Crackheads here are NOT polite. The last time I stopped, I literally watched a man pull out his crack and start doing drugs in front of the building, while his friend whipped out his junk and started pissing on the building while I was walking by. My first stop when arriving in Pittsburg (from Sacramento) was this Arco AM/PM to buy gas. It's run down and looks kind of old. I was able to pay at the pump and pump my gas without issue. I originally went inside to pay and use the bathroom. But, both bathroom doors had yellow "Out of Service" stickers. How infuriating! Plus there wasn't any employees at the counter. So, back outside I go! I don't see myself stopping at this location if I needed anything besides gasoline, when in Pittsburg next time. It's a hot mess here! read more

I stop in at this location at least once a week. I stopped in the other night to get some beer and cigarettes. I was told that "Sorry. I can't get you any beer at this time. I was totally confused. This had never happened before and I have been going here for 5 years. Needless to say I wasn't happy at all. This seems to be something that the management might want to check into how this could happen. I went to the parking lot and got the person out of her car to go in and get me the beer. This Arco was a Flashback there where Gang bangers Bumping Mariachi Music . Some Old School Pimps in Leisure Suits and Hairnets. Even a Couple of Dough Boy look a likes. Well, it's a gas station. Not too much to say about the gas other than everybody hates spending a ton of money on fueling up (no surprise there). After feuling, I think most people actually reconsider owning a Toyota Prius, no matter how hiddy that car may look. However, I feel it's important for people to know that this gas station is typically about .10¢ cheaper than Shell gas station kiddy-corner of the intersection. Another important note is that the outside terminals are debit and tack on a .35¢ terminal fee, grrr... Nickel and dime'n The location is on a busy intersection corner so while getting in is a breeze, getting out and trying to go north (towards hiway 4) on Loveridge is a biatch!! Every time I come here, there is almost always somebody bumping the hell out of their car music. I have no problem with this; I usually like the song but I read people's body language, and they are usually not fans. I can just see people's thoughts looking like comic book bubbles, usually screaming "GHETTO!" Walmart is close by so maybe they are the same crowd. Ha ha...oh wait I frequent this location, what does that say about me, hmm? Lol This is one of the few gas stations in Pitt with a drive thru car wash. I'm more of a 7-11 dude personally, but this Am/Pm is just a hop, skip and jump from where I love so I stop in from time to time. The service here is a total hit or miss, seems you either catch the staff conversing amongst one another or just completely not paying you attention to you as they ring you up which is not cool in my book. The homeless, hobos, and chickenheads are always here panhandling or soliciting it seems no matter what time of day you come here and I find that to be really annoying, like I don't want to be harrased when I'm just trying to go on about my day, nor cursed at because I didn't spare change or pay you any attention.....NO BUENO. But on the lighter note, I do see the staff tending to the area (taking out the trash, sweeping ect) which is cool, and most of the time the radio is playing some tunes while you fill up or the news. I mostly like the fact that Monster Energy and Rockstar Energy have exclusive drinks only at Am/Pm and I like the flavors. Monster Phantom and Rockstar Cucumber Lime. And you get the punch card you earn a free drink after 5 visits. I think thats cool besides the low competitive gas prices. In closing, some work to improve on service and get the store clear of hustlers, then this would be a 5 star stop! read more

I love this place. It's the cheapest place for gas in the bay area, that I've seen in my travels in San Francisco, Berkeley, and Santa Cruz areas. I always fill up here. Although the cashiers may be a little less on the professional side, they tend to leave me laughing and I appreciate that. I would rather laugh than have a "professional" experience at a gas station any day! Also, I always just pay in cash inside, because that takes out a lot of the complication of getting gas. WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!! This station USED to have great gas prices, but now they are one of the most expensive around. Costco today was 50 cents cheaper!! Although it is close by my house and I've been a loyal customer since it was built, I take my business to the Arco on San Marcos, right off the freeway at that exit. my usual was out of order, yep you read that right, the entire gas station was out of order. So I decided to go across the street and give this one a try, had to wait a bit for a pump.to open up but when it did everything was fine, gas is a little cheaper on this side of the road, but they do charge .35 cents for using a card. BEWARE, rip off. These people have a nice little scam going on here. (My next emails will be to BP, the parent company of Arco, and then the Federal Trade Commission.) The last three visits I've made (I avoid this place unless I'm completely out of gas and can't make it to Costco or I have to wash my car -- today it was because of a seagull splat that was too gross.) All 3 times, the pumps will not give you a printed receipt -- forcing you to go inside (most likely to entice you to buy something -- isn't that called "bait and switch"?) The last time it was over 100 degrees outside, and I complained that it was the 2nd time the failure to give a receipt inconvenienced me. The clerk, a young man, made excuses that "We ask them to come fix the machines but they don't show up." OK, what kind of business has defective machines that they don't fix for MONTHS? So today, I needed a partial tank and a car wash. The pump DIDN'T EVEN GIVE ME THE OPTION to buy a car wash AND it told me to go inside to get my receipt. (What's that saying about "two's a coincidence but three's a trend"?) The cashier (a young woman) was ready for my complaint with an obviously well-rehearsed answer. She handed me the receipt and I told her I had wanted to buy a car wash when I paid outside, and she showed me the 3 wash options and I picked the $7.00 version. I swiped my card and it asked me to approve ANOTHER $.35 cent charge for using a debit card. I said, "I already paid this outside" to which she said, "Well, those pumps outside are a completely different system than the registers inside." I said, "But the pump didn't offer me the option to purchase a car wash like it was supposed to." And she said, "Well, sometimes the readers work and sometimes they don't", to which I said, "So I'm being punished for your pump's malfunction?" She replied, "It's not a punishment, it's because you're paying for it in here." I pointed out how ridiculous that was, and did she see it from my standpoint, and she said, "It's not US, it's ARCO. In fact, the ARCO rep is here today, would you like to speak to her?" When I said yes, the transaction for my car wash had timed out, so I pointed that out to her and she re-entered the car wash charge plus the .35. She never said, "I'll get the rep for you now." When she said that she couldn't do anything to correct the extra charge, I said, "That 35 cents is costing you a negative review on Yelp. It's the first thing I'm going to do when I get home." But think about it: If EVERY customer who wants a car wash gets double charged that extra fee (first to use the pump outside, then again to get a car wash inside), that's a 70 cent PER CUSTOMER profit (double what it should be, which is already a rip off to begin with.) So, at what point is the "cheap gas price" not so cheap any more? I'm going to get my car washed across the street at the Shell station, and I will follow up with complaints to ARCO/BP and especially the FTC. Hopefully there will be an investigation and somebody will get caught for shady business practices. read more
