Nice local place. Got my eye brows waxed and they did an excellent job for a reasonable price. I'd recommend!

Misty's House of Cuts - Where she striped all the pigmentation out of my naturally black hair that she didn't tell me she was doing.

I can't even leave a one star rating for this horrible place to get any type of hair cut, color,…read moreservice or any other service they offer. This is by far the worst experience I've ever had in my life. I would rather go to my dogs groomer than have Misty ever even glance at my hair. She and the establishment are very unprofessional. The establishment is very dirty and unsanitary. She fried my hair beyond anything I've ever experienced before in my life. It started with a phone call she was running late (which I can understand under certain situations) but being the first client of the day scheduled and was there for over 7 hours for a root touch up, color and cut was totally unacceptable. I warn any and all to stay as far away as possible from her and this business. I had severe chemical burns on several places of my scalp. She totally ignored me and then way over charged me and I didn't have the correct change and she didn't even ask me if I needed change. She charged $160 to destroy my hair and then kept the change I was due as her tip without even asking and sent me out the door with my hair soaking wet. Didn't even blow dry it. Needless to say I'll never be back and will warn all locals to stay far away. I kept my cool but decided everyone needs to know how horrific this so called salon is. I don't even think she has a license but will be reporting her to the BBB and the IN Board of Cosmetology. She has no business dealing with chemicals what so ever on hair. She doesn't have a clue what she's doing or how to perform any kind of service to a client. I lived through the 80's big perms and never had anyone mess my hair up so bad. Please beware and stay away from this business. It's a true nightmare. One more thing, this was my 1st and last appointment with her and Misty's House Of Cuts. I don't know her except for the experience I had and I don't ever want to see her in my life again. The first introduction the day of my appointment was enough to last me a lifetime. Also, her kids are there after school and she spends more time disciplining her two boys than a customer who was stuck there for over 7 hours. Totally appalling. Thumbs down all the way and not even the tiniest hint of even a tiny point of a star on 1/4 of one, but they make you leave at least one but she deserves -100,000 stars!!! Not deserving of running a business at all and especially as a cosmetologist. She must have graduated last in her class at the worst cosmetology school in the entire state. My dog or cat could have done a better job. More than disappointed and have grown more angry everyday when I try to fix this mess she left with my hair and burns on my head.

I purchased the package of 3 micro-needling sessions which was the way to go since it saves some $. Overall though her prices are at or below every other local place I've checked. Britt is so kind and easy to talk to, and she does a great job of explaining the process and the products she's using. The micro-needling was pretty simple and quick. It's slightly painful on the first session, but the numbing cream she uses helps with that and it gets better with successive sessions. She takes photos before and after so she can keep track of your progress and recommend treatments or products based on your needs. She doesn't sell products there which always makes me feel better, like she's really recommending the best thing for you, not just because she's selling it. Healing went well and my skin looks better than ever! She says she can age you backwards and honestly, I believe it. She does a good job of explaining aftercare and answering any questions you may have. She also does a quick check up two weeks after your first session just to make sure things are going well. I believe the boutique is currently in a transitional space while she waits on another spot to open up nearby. I can't wait to visit once that happens, I'm sure it will be even more relaxing and lovely. Next up I'm going to try micro-needling on my neck and chest to reduce wrinkling and up collagen production. I had no idea you could treat those areas, I'm excited to see results!

They also vary in timing, you can pay for 90 mins and some therapists will get done in 80, others 85, but never the full reserved time in my experience. Im not very outspoken so it sucks when you're paying $120 (not including the tip....) and leaving the place not completely happy/feeling relaxed. There are other spots in town that offer more consistent services (and for much more reasonable prices compared to here). One pro is that this establishment is more professional seeming (announce they're washing hands before/after, give you water and go over some at home exercises to do in between sessions), so not all terrible, just not worth it (imo) for the price. I've tried 4 different therapists here (in my 5 years living in Bloomington) and Tanya G seems to be their best (I never tried Amber but heard good things abut her). Lastly, this one is probably a minor "complaint" and totally not related to the therapists but in one of my last times I was there, as I was waiting to check out/pay, I overheard the front desk receptionist tell the lady in front of me "people typically tip 20%, thats what is usually acceptable" after the lady had said "ooh and tip too" and it made me feel inclined to tip over $20 on a not so great service to begin with (I used to tip $10 there). I don't love this recent culture of pressurizing customers to tip (especially when you're charging premium prices).

I really wanted to love this place, but am sad to not have had a better experience! I went today…read morefor my first bikini, full leg, & underarm wax. There are a few elements to review here. First, the girls working were all kind. My waxer maintained conversation throughout the entire waxing process to help distract from what I'd think would be a pretty painful & uncomfortable process for most people (I have a pretty high pain tolerance). My first negative was the fact that they never took the time to explain to me what in the world was going on and what I needed to do post-wax. Thankfully, I'm a researcher, so I had a good idea of what to expect walking into my appointment, but my waxer didn't explain a single aspect of the wax to me - just went ahead and started, despite clarifying it was my first wax. When I was leaving, they handed me a couple mini aftercare products and said bye. I wasn't bold enough to ask what they were because I felt very much like I was being rushed out, so again, I researched and determined a good course of action. I feel as though if you have someone who is coming for a first wax, you really need to be clear what is going on and especially what the aftercare process should look like, you don't want them to mess anything up! My second biggest complaint is the amount of bruising I have! Unfortunately I can't upload pictures of this because of the location (bikini wax), but it is pretty significant. Also based on research, I think this could be due to the technique used by my waxer that led to this not being the best experience (not making the skin taut, rewaxing the same area, etc.). Had I known these things in advance I would have spoken up, but here we are :( One suggestion I'd make to this place would be to also figure out a way to make the rooms slightly more private. They have the layout of the waxing rooms with the waxing tables/beds facing so that, if laying down, your legs/private area is facing towards the door. I mention this because, if the door opens for any reason, you would be completely exposed to the brows/lashes area of the salon. My waxer stepped out of the room and asked me to remove my underwear and lay on the table, but I wasn't comfortable doing that until she was back in the room with me, knowing that the door would swing open and I'd be exposed to who knows how many people! Probably worth considering switching the tables to another wall to protect the privacy of the clients!! However, one of the perks of this place was that they treated my service dog with so much kindness. They were very welcoming and had no issues whatsoever with her coming into the business. I'm always so thankful for places that are accommodating of ADA like this!!
