I love the gelato at Amorino. I went every day I was in Paris, then I went in Cannes, Florence, and I just found out there is one in the Rome airport at terminal 3 where I catch my flight back to the states. Thank goodness there is one in NY. I hope they open one in Cali. I am absolutely addicted to the gelato there. My favorite flavor is the amarena. It's creamy vanilla with those amazing soft tart cherries and a cherry ribbon throughout the gelato. I introduced my college roommate from 30+ years ago to this amazing gelato haven and she was immediately hooked. I also always top my gelato off with the raspberry gelato macarons which are also to die for. They have gelato ice cream inside them as well. Absolutely fantastico!! Surprisingly all the stores I visited so far gave great service. I haven't been to the Rome airport yet. I shall see. The restaurants are typically small and a few have a place to eat inside or outside. The one in Florence does. They were all clean and the decorations and pictures are very inviting when you enter. The store in Paris you have to enter your order in a kiosk, but the other restaurants have a person to take your order. Definitely make an effort to go there if you are in a city that has one. I had gelato for dinner or lunch many days when I was tired of the food in the cities I visited. I hope I don't see bread, pastries, cheese, fish and chips, or pasta for the next 5 years. read more

Overall: Hands down, the best ice cream that I've had in my life! Location: Located near the waterfront and close to McDonalds, I don't know how this place isn't packed! It is a small little place so be prepared to wait outside if there is a line. Service: As expected, they don't speak English very fluently but they have plenty of photos that will assist with that. Selection: I believe there were about 8 flavors for ice cream and 8 for gelato. We had the hazelnut and cafe which you can taste bits of hazelnut and coffee beans. They also have affogato which I wouldn't recommend. Price: As much as I love this place, it is on the pricey side. However, regardless of the size you get, you can get as many flavors as your heart desire - most likely a limit because they can't put every flavor on a cone/bowl. We have Amorino here in NYC and we go fairly often - their flower petal gelato is both pretty to look and good to eat! Since it's on the same block as our lunch spot, we decided to try it out. Was Amorino in Europe different than Amorino in NYC? The answer: Yes! They take a lot more care and precision in crafting the petals of the gelato flower. The guy behind the counter would painstakingly put each petal in and would just discard a petal he scooped up if it wasn't perfectly shaped. The end result is a gorgeous, perfect flower - made from as many flavors as you want! I ended up with a mango core and coconut + vanilla cherry petals. He even put a cherry on top of the mango center! Prices are about the same as Amorino in NYC so it's definitely more expensive than your standard gelato spot in Europe. read more

See.. it didn't look promising.. the place across the street was packed to capacity, there were people hanging from the rafters in order to get into the queue... Amorino, in comparison, was less than half full with a small line of people and looked a bit dark. In a moment of rare genius I suggested we try it anyway, on the premise that the full place was on the main strip and was very brightly coloured and easily accessible.... I reckoned people simply didn't see the other shop. I was right, the cones we got from Amorino were beautiful, they were painstakingly created to mirror the petals on a flower and you could has as many flavours as you wanted - even on the small cones (€3). It became a regular haunt after an afternoon on the beach, definitely worth a shot! read more

Awesome gelato. Great location, exceptionally friendly service. At the end of the day, for gelato, it's all about the quality and the freshness of the ingredients. This place was awesome. Delicious Gelato! Many different flavors. I'm a huge chocolate and they had 4 different chocolate choices. I had the organic chocolate and dark chocolate mixed together. They have free WiFi as well for their customers. Definitely try it out!!! read more

One morning on holiday I found myself wandering around Cannes in the blinding sun and heat, desperate for an iced coffee and unable to find any shops that could satisfy my craving. I wandered past Amorino and noted they had an espresso machine and some photos of what looked like Frappucinos in the windows, and decided this was probably as close as I was going to get. I ordered a frappe of espresso and vanilla gelato from a very sweet and helpful lady, paid a hearty €7 for this 10 AM indulgence, and was on my way. It was absolutely delicious but rather small, and I was so desperate for coffee that after a mere two blocks my straw went dry and I looked down into my empty cup with a feeling of utmost sadness. I have since tasted gelato at many spots up and down the French Riviera and Amorino is one of the classier spots that I have seen. Even from my milkshake I could tell that the gelato was very high quality and made from fresh ingredients. It is not certainly not cheap, but in my opinion the extra €1-2 is worth it for really high quality gelato. read more
