Big NOPE. My friend just stepped out of this barbershop and I looked at his hair. Haha seriously? This is the simplest haircut you could possibly do. It's a 1.5 on the sides and 2 on the top. How can you go wrong? I guess you get what you pay for and have to fix it at home by yourself. read more

now i know why i didn't write a review on this earlier. Was planning to just get my sideburns tiedied up better for $5, but she talked me into a full haircut for $4 more & regret it. She just was a bit rough, almost yanking my hair every now and then, no smoothness, not part of their vocabulary. Granted it was just a barbershop, & not expecting me coming out looking like Brad Pitt or anything but needless to say, i cannot recommend this place even for a trim. read more

Had haircut today, surprised that price increased from $7 to $11. I asked 2x, as previously I was told if my "0 on sides, 3 on top" was faded, then $11, but if not faded, then $7. The $7 on sidewalk sign is now missing. $11 is still not expensive, but the huge jump surprised me. Now the price is close (not sure exact price and name) with a barber shop in New Westminster on Columbia, near Braid. read more

Terrible, will not be returning. The worst haircut I've had in my life. Terrible communicator, wasn't sure when she was mumbling to the other two people (employees maybe?) or speaking to me. Her very professional method of gathering hair into a large pile then poking and hacking away at random with the scissors left hair all over the place (and trimming around the ears with her shaky hand made me clench in fear). My description of "short all over, but still long enough to be tousled and messy in the morning" earned me an incredibly short buzzcut on the sides and an unevenly long top of hair. Half way through the haircut she changed the price to a higher price (um...I guess I wasn't in a position to refuse...?) and my transaction took 5 minutes to authenticate because somebody else was apparently on the phone. Worst experience ever, possibly worst haircut ever. If only negative stars were possible. read more

As a man with a half head of hair, I appreciate the low price they offer. Add $2 tip and I am still getting an amazing deal. The staff - every time I have been there - were polite and caring, They helped my Dad, Mom and grandmother walk up to the chair and get in to the seat, then stand up and leave (all have serious mobility issue). This is a show of humanity. I respect them. I respect their work. And I have seen they keep everything clean. That is all that matters to me. I w ill keep going. read more

Bad, bad, bad. Rough handling, cannot count my hair was painfully pulled to tuck it in a clip. Cut git way tooshort, the woman did not want to listen. The price was suddenly $16, I paid but never ever will set a foot in that place or in their other outlets. Trashy inside and dirty, electric outlets spark. As a male with a pretty straightforward and easy haircut, this place (for $5) does the trick. The staff aren't particularly chatty or overtly friendly, but I am ok with that as long as they do a decent job. I was in-and-out in just 15 mins or so. My barber was a bit rough when using the clippers on the back surface of my head (repeatedly almost digging into my skin), but no blood and he stopped right when it seemed it might get really uncomfortable. Overall, I'm pleased and I'll be back as long as I just need something simple. read more

This place proves that cheap does not always mean bad! I don't understand the negative reviews over here - I have been getting my hair cut over here for almost 2 years now and the only "bad" hair cut I had was the lady cutting my hair too short once when I was not clear enough. Now I just show them my ideal hair photo and they cut exactly how I want. The bald guy is the best while the others keep changing. I seldom have to wait and they cut really fast so it is worth commuting there to save money. For only $6 you will get a cut that beats most $10 places. read more

I live just down the street so tried them out. Of course you have to be curious how they can provide a haircut for $5 including tax right? My hair is simple but as with all places you need to be able to articulate what you want. And here it is probably more important since they are work fast and don't waste alot of time but probably that is more a guy thing. Can't speak for the ladies. I've gone more than a few times now and it comes down to finding the right person who does it the way you like it. Easier said than done though since there is relatively strong turnover from what I can tell and their schedules are not exactly fixed. But when you find that person, make sure you get their name and call to see when they are in. The store hours have actually cut back recently but still open later than other places. There will be some trial and error involved for some people and best to keep your expectations in check. Likely they may have contributed to the demise of the First Choice Hair Cutters that closed down across the street beside the 7-11 recently. Can't beat the price. Even the ones in Chinatown are $8-12. Even after adding a tip it's still cheaper than 99% of the other places out there. Good luck! read more

Will not return to this place nor recommend it to anyone I know. Didn't even get a chance to get anything done on myself due to lack of communication and lack of customer service. Wasted my time going to an appointment I thought I had when they didn't even book me for anything. I even called the day before just to confirm. I was suppose to get a colour and cut done when they told me they didn't have any colourist available. They offered to give me a cut which I declined because thats not what I booked for. I was quite upset and they didn't even offer to reschedule me. In the end all they did was make excuses. Don't waste your time going to this place. I've been going to Amir for the last couple of years to get a trim every six months, and so far I've been satisfied. I mean, for a $12 cut my expectations are pretty low, but so are my needs so there's little room for disappointment as far as I'm concerned. All I ask for is to shorten my hair which is the same length all around. However for some reason yesterday my usual hairdresser, who I used to be happy with, decided, without consulting me, to cut my "bangs" (for lack of a better word) much shorter than the rest of my hair, which put me in an absolute rage because I didn't ask for it and didn't want it. I think it's fair to expect your hairdresser to consult with you before going beyond what you requested of them. So while it's true that I didn't specifically say I wanted ALL my hair the same length, I take it for granted that when I ask for a trim the implication is that I want the same haircut refreshed, NOT CHANGED! I really have a huge problem with hairdressers that get "creative" without asking you if that's what you want. Or, for that matter, without making sure that what they're giving you meets your expectations. This is true not only of this shop but others as well. This just happens to be my latest misadventure, and it only serves to feed my preexisting dislike and mistrust of hairdressers in general, not just this one. My other problem is that for some unknown reason, I was charged $15 this time instead of the regular $12. My haircut literally takes only just 5 minutes because it's so straight-forward, so really I should only be charged for a man's haircut. Why the sudden increase? I didn't question it because it's still cheap, but I really should have. There was no reason for it. All in all at this point, I'm not sure if I'll be going back to this place. In my experience, other $10 salons are no better and this was the first time I was made upset by the service I got there. So the jury is still out. Bottom line is, if I go again or if you go: MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE TO VERY SPECIFICALLY SAY WHAT YOU WANT AND DON'T WANT. Don't leave anything to chance like I did. And if they want to charge you more, ask them why, and if it doesn't seem fair: WALK AWAY. read more

For ladies' haircuts I'd recommend going somewhere else. I asked specifically for layers without making the hairstyle short, but it ended up short anyways. The technique she used was not as professional as other salons. However, it was $10 for a ladies' haircuts. So I think this would be a good place to go for trims but not styling. read more

Used to go to Agnes St barber which is just down the street, closer to home and a great haircut. However, when all I need is clipperwork there's a big difference between $15 that it used to cost me and the $5 it does now! It's another 150 yds further from home but I've always been happy with the haircut, some admittedely better than others, there's a couple of young guys who are really good, (take it from me I used to be a hairdressing teacher) and everyone is still ok, never a complaint and really for $5 you can't go wrong! read more

I never review places but am so upset, do not ever go to the older man who works there!!!!! Took my son there for a simple cut and the guy completely ignored every one of my instructions and had no common sense as a hairdresser in what he should or shouldn't do.
