What is surprise to find this faux movie set behind a strip mall in uptown Stanwood! You walk into the movie theater building and there are three restaurants on your left. We went to the first because we love Mexican food. Prices were steep, but seemed fair because the large portions feed 2 to 3 people. Food was decent and plentiful. We both brought a box home. We called 6 weeks in advance to book a party of 25. We followed up the week before. Then we called the morning of to order our appetizers. We arrived the 30 mins early as requested. Got there they said "we got to biay sorry" ok it's ok we are 30 mins early. We got sat and no wait staff to serve us. Inquired who is taking our orders and how about the appetizers we already ordered. The quot d we have to see the sho is going to server you we are to busy. Yikes remember we reserved this time this day 6 weeks ago. 6:45 came no chips no drink orders no appetizers (that were preordered). 7:15 ask the owner can you please just take our orders. Part of the appetizers arrive but only half (odd). Ordered. 8pm came still no food no apology no singing to the birthday girl. Done. Will NEVER rerun again nor will our party of 25! All local folks! We like to spend our dining dollars locally and decided to visit Amigo again today, our second time dining there. The service was prompt and the food was good, nothing unusual just standard Mexican food. We ordered Cadillac Margaritas; they were okay but not as good as other locations in town. When the bill came the margaritas were charged at $16 each and an additional $3 for Jumbo. There was nothing jumbo about the glass, we were not asked about drink size when we ordered. As we were paying the check I inquired about the jumbo size drink and the server confirmed they were jumbo. The location also charges a $2.00 fee for using a credit card, which would have been acceptable if the margaritas weren't so overpriced. Doubtful that we will dine at Amigo's again and if we do I certainly won't order a margarita. read more

This is my favorite Mexican food in the area (I drive about 35 minutes to go here). My favorite is the huge tostada - optimal proportions of ingredients (IMO) which perfects the flavor. The Cadillac margaritas are great! Always consistently great service. read more

Wow if I could give a lower review I would. My husband was feeling sleepy so he grabbed a coffee on our way to dinner. Shortly after being seated, a man approached our table and made a rude comment about my husband having an outside drink. I explained to the server that the man's comment was rude and we will be spending approximately $75 for dinner at their establishment. The man approached our table again and stated outside drinks were not allowed and asked us to leave so we did. The server told us the man was the owner. Amigo means friend - not so friendly! Most unwise man I've come across. We are an older financially secure couple that would have returned often with friends. Plus as a nurse at the local hospital, people often ask me for dining recommendations in the area. This was our first and last visit at this restaurant. Will never return. read more

Can I do zero stars? Whoever hired the woman who used to be a waitress and now works the bar needs their head examined. Horrible woman. She a near meltdown because I asked for clarification on a menu item. Then she storms off refusing to help us further. A small guy comes over and apologizes on her behalf. Fast forward a few months later - Same woman takes our order, screws up just about everything possible with it and has another near meltdown. They are alwwys short handed. Hours depend on their mood. A fun place to gather with friends and family. I've been here so many times and can't believe I haven't written a review before. If you are looking for some good Mexican food, or to hang out at the bar after work, or sing karaoke late at night Amigos has you covered. One of my favorite dishes here is Pollo Spartan, named after the local high school football team. Grilled chicken breast served on a bed of rice, with veggies simmered in cream sauce. On the side are rancho beans and a fresh garden salad. Enough food for two meals, although intend to be here for a while and pick at the food while talking. I prefer eating in the "outdoor" seating, which is in a covered mall area with the walls decorated in a street scene likely to resemble Stanwood in the early days. Never been asked to leave a restaurant before now (I'm 62). I brought a specialty coffee into Amigo (tired and needed a pickup) with my wife and daughter to order dinner; looking to spend $75.00 minimum. Bartender/owner mentioned to the server and then returned to us at our table and mentioned he had a problem with outside drinks. This place doesn't likely serve specialty coffee drinks... I asked he had a decision to make if he wants our business - he asked us to leave so we did. Prices are very high here and if the food isn't "knock your socks off", this place will suffer and likely close with an attitude like that. read more

We love Amigos. Growing up on Camano, this was a staple for eating out. Located inside the building that holds the movie theater and Dragon palace, it has an open feel and on weekend evenings the entire building seems to come alive. There is tons of parking both in front and to the side of the building. There is a small bathroom located inside the restaurant, but also a large one used for all of the building down by what used to be the arcade. The service has always been great. They refill drinks as soon as they are empty and check with you after the food comes out to make sure everything is correct. We never feel rushed. Now, the food! Free unlimited chips and salsa start your meal. Their molé is the best! My husband compares the molé there to every other place he tries, and it's never as good. It's not Spicy but not over powering with the chocolate flavor either. Their tortilla soup is flavorful and packed with the good stuff! So much chicken, cheese, tortilla strips and avocado. We always stop in when we are in town visiting and we have never been disappointed. read more

This place has truly friendly service, and pretty good food. We came here just before seeing a movie, and sat in the fake-outside-inside area near the theater entrance. The chips and salsa are good, nothing too special but I enjoyed it. They also came with a house bean dip which I just liked, but my boyfriend (and others) loved! My street tacos were enjoyable, and my boyfriend's Steak Picada was absolutely amazing- I couldn't stop stealing pieces from his plate! The menu has a lot of great selections, and everyone in our party was happy with their food. If you're in the area, Amigo is a nice, friendly, and reliable Mexican-American restaurant. Happened upon Amigo because Dragon Palace is no longer open for lunch. I've been to Amigo a few times but it's not on my hit parade for Mexican food. Since we were pressed for time we took a leap. I'm not blaming the staff since there was only one man working the bar and main dining. He might be the owner or manager. He was nice and did a good job keeping up. The wait for food was north of 30 minutes but I'm not blaming anyone. NOBODY wants to work these days because the government is paying people stay home. Anyway the food was okay but not as good as I wanted it to be. I had a macho burrito and it was okay. It had lettuce in it which I'm no fan of. The lunch was decent at any rate. Prices are high all over so that's not an issue. We will be back at one time or another. read more

Excellent chips and salsa but needs a hot salsa to go with the chips, too. Bean dip was awesome and nice touch. Good was flavorful and presented nicely and was plentiful. Carne asada seems the to be the main attraction but to try more items we had the Jefe Platter so we could taste the bacon wrapped shrimp and the Chicken asada, too. So, I presented a coupon from the Entertainment book. $10.00. I printed it from home. Prior, I had gone to the movies, and left my phone in the car. When I presented the coupon, they accused me of not redeeming the coupon, and embarrased me, by ggoing to my carto get my phone. Basically calling me a liar, when I told them it automatically redeems when you print the coupon. I will not be comin back here again. read more

The food is quite greasy, even compared to other Mexican restaurants / taquerias in the area. My biggest complaint that when I ordered a quesadilla, I was not asked which size I wanted. Secondly, I only wanted cheese on my quesadilla and nothing else. For a full size quesadilla, they include beef, onions, vegis, cream, mushrooms, and a bunch of other stuff. I received the bill and was shocked to see $16 full price for a quesadilla with plain cheese. Most places I have been, give a reduced price for no meat and/or only cheese. $16 for a plan quesadilla by itself...that is more than double the price at Ralibertos or the shop next to Jimmy's. I ordered the kids quesadilla for my son..That was fairly priced, but the tortilla was a bit overcooked relative to mine. Also the price of rice and beans here is astronomical. 6.50 plus tax for rice OR beans is too much. Typically a side order will run you 2.50-5.00 at most for 1 of those. Not returning. read more

This in one the better Mexican restaurants in the whole area north of Everett. The food is very good and location makes it 5 stars. I come here to eat and watch a movie. The chips and salsa are very good for starters. Many restaurants have good chips and salsa and amigos is right up there with the best of them. I have eaten here at least dozen times an every meal has been very good. Mexican street tacos, el jefes platter, or trio enchiladas are all very good dishes. I have never had a bad meal here.
