One of two garage door springs broke and garage would not open. Called a coupon mailer company. They had appt. available in 2 hours, so I waited and they came. Gave me a very high quote "after" coupon discount. I said too costly so I'd have to think about it. Soon after, I called Amigo (local guy out of Livermore) based on a friend's referral... He asked me to send my address and photos of the springs and garage door. He replied quickly and arrived 40 min later. He took a look, gave me his quote, and was done with the job in 20 minutes. He knows what he is doing, cares about proper function of the whole garage door system. He showed me 2 other things wrong. He fine tuned the up and down travel limits which were off. And he pointed out the worn rail pully and gave me a quote for that repair. But he assured me that it's not urgent, just near future thing. Needed to update my garage door motors to more modern (wifi/back up battery). I found some Genie garage openers on sale at a wholesale store and purchased the 3 For my 3 car garage. Got quotes for other contractors and their prices were a bit on the high side. Searched good ol yelp and came across amigo garage doors. I called them got a quote for paying in cash. My garage was acting up so I went and bought a new motor at Home Depot. Turns out to be a little more challenging for a DIY because of the tight space situation in my garage ceiling to mount it. The old one was much smaller than the newer ones. I was able to set up an appointment with Ramiro for the same week and showed up during the timeframe we agreed on. Ramiro installed it without issue and it's so smooth and quiet now. I also noticed that my garage door is not balanced so asked him to checked the springs and Ramiro pointed out that the springs were quite undersized for the door that I have so he gave me a quote to replace both which I agreed and he had them in his truck so he installed them at the same time. In addition, my garage door had a little crack which compromised one of the sections so he was able to install a cross beam and I only paid for the part. Very knowledgeable, honest, and reasonable with his pricing. I highly recommend Ramiro if you ever need any work on your garage door or motor. We had a great conversation throughout his installation. I noticed that one of my cables on my garage door looked frayed. I contacted a handful of garage door companies. Mr. Ruelas's quote was reasonable. I asked for his next available appointment and he said between 8 and 9 the next morning. He showed up exactly at 8am. He replaced both cables and adjusted the spring. The cables themselves cost nearly nothing and it's a quick job for an expert. He charged me exactly what he quoted the day before. (Hilariously, one of the larger garage door companies I got a quote from wanted nearly 4x as much for this simple job. No doubt they would have attempted to up-sell me on a new opener.) As an aside: he mentioned that the appointment after mine was in Pacifica, so I think he is willing to work all over the bay area. The bottom line is that, in the future, I will only ever call Mr. Ruelas to service my garage door. I feel lucky that I met him to have my cable replaced. I am writing this review to make sure that he gets lots of work so that in 5 years when I need a new spring, he will still be in the garage door business. I bought a garage door opener at Home Depot and Home Depot contracted with Amigo Garage door to do the install. 6 weeks went buy and nobody called to schedule the install. So I called Home Depot and they told me my install is assigned to Amigo Garage Doors. Home Depot gave me Amigio's number. I called and was told they will come on Wednesday and install the opener between 8am-10am. I let my renters know so they could take the day off from work to be home to allow the install. Amigo calls me on Wednesday morning at 7:30am saying they can't do the install today because they don't have a P.O. from Home Depot. This was so crazy. I was so upset and stressed out. Who does this? Who says they will install on a date and time and then call 30 minutes before the schedule install to say it's not going to happen. Crazy. My tenants took the day off from work. I called Home Depot to complain and Amigo came later that day to do the install. Home Depot charged me $95 install the garage door opener, then Amigo called and said they need to replace my garage door springs for an additional cost of $280. This is so crazy. Moving the opener from middle of garage to side of the door tracks also opened up the upper garage area too. I called this morning to get an estimate for a spring adjustment. Left a message and received a return call in minutes. Sadly, I was unable to take the call, so the gentleman followed up with a text! I called back, got a rough estimate over the phone and he mentioned that he would be able to swing by between 3 and 4. I got another text at 3:01 saying he was outside. How good is that? He had a mask, was incredibly nice and super qualified. The longest part of the job was ME moving things in the garage so he could get where he needed to be. I would like to share my wonderful experience about Amigo Garage doors with everyone. Romero is the owner and I had talked to him about installing a garage door opener since I did not have one. Romero came to install the opener and realized that the top mount would not work for my garage because I have a beam in the way so he recommended I get the side mount garage opener. It costed me almost double but he was able to come back the next day and install it. 3 weeks later, early on a Saturday morning, I opened the garage and for some reason the door got stuck and the cable was off the track. 3 of us held it up and managed to untangle the cable and close the door manually. I called Romero and he came in the next hour and fixed the cables and reset the opener. He didn't even charge me. I previously had Romero fix the spring on my previous house garage door. After dragging my feet about getting the temperamental door replaced -- and it going from mostly broke to fully broke -- I called Amigo (mostly due to their reviews here). Day 1, they looked at the opener, and yup, need a new one. Presented a few options, and said it could be put in tomorrow (which worked best for our schedule). Day 2, their guy replaced the door, showed us how to program the included outdoor clicker thing, installed that as well, handed us two door openers, and mentioned in the unlikely event of a problem, the owner lives 6-8 blocks away and a call to the main number would get 'em out in a jif. Not needed, but nice to know the option was there. Yelp does note they accept credit cards, and if so, they certainly prefer checks. Fortunately, had the check book handy. read more

My garage door had stopped opening one day and I had a feeling that I may need to purchase a new motor. I called Amigo Garage Doors and explained my garage door issue and was told they can send someone over the following day and I agreed for them to do so. The person who examined the garage door the next day arrived on time and was very friendly. After a few minutes of assessing the garage door, he determined that motor was just not strong enough to lift the garage door and suggested I get a new motor that carried more power. He provided me a quote on a LiftMaster unit that was more powerful and contained additional features than the Genie unit I previously had. The quoted price for the unit and installation was very reasonable. After agreeing to proceed he told me they could come by the next day and install it and sure enough they did. After the installation was completed, they gave me a walkthrough on the job they did and also gave me a tutorial on the new features that were included in this unit that my previous unit lacked.
