Went to Amicis Itialian Eatery Friday evening. The wait staff is especially very attentive and helpful. We were four adults from New York and looking to eat some good Italian food after having the usual fish four days in a row. We ordered 2 chicken parm, one chicken marzella, and one eggplant parm. Great food but severely over priced. I used to be a regular customer but I can't justify their prices anymore. Waiter had filthy fingernails and kept touching the silverware on the table he was very rushy rushy towards us to make an order and our wine glasses were dirty with crust and lipstick also the waiter took orders for the second round of wine then never brought them and he barely every visited the table we had to ask the hostess for more water. We came back for a second attempt, and the food was super bland. The best part of our meals was the bread at the beginning - even the homemade Caesar dressing was bad. The hostess was pretty inhospitable when we came in, but our waitress was ok. Back story: I was watching a Netflix show that had a reviewer travel finding authentic Italian pizza. Needless to say, I wanted that for dinner. I simply typed in "pizza" on Maps and this came up as the highest rated near me. I ordered over the phone and the gentleman was very friendly and kind, unlike our normal Domino's call. We were told the food would be ready in 15 and it was actually ready in 10! The food itself is amazing. We ordered a margerita pizza, chicken fettuccine alfredo pasta, chicken soup as a side, a caesar salad, and garlic bread. It was SO good and exactly what I was looking for. It wasn't the cheap container stuff for takeout either, this great service clearly comes from the family-owned part of this business that has been at it for 20 years. The owners ARE Italian which is a plus for credibility. Though we got takeout, the inside of the restaurant was very fancy/nice inside. They were very happy to hear it was our first order there and my husband watched basically drooling as they squirt the oil on the pizza before being put in the fire oven. We were on vacation in Clearwater and decided to go away from the shore and try an Italian restaurant. I'm so glad we found this place; it was fantastic!! The waitress was friendly, informative about the menu, efficient , and humorous! We ordered an appetizer, pizza, a chicken entree, and dessert. All were amazing. I've grown up in an Italian home and never order red sauce out because it's always a disappointment, but I did here and was very glad I did. It was similar to the homemade sauce I'm used to. This was the best meal we had all week. I have two regrets; 1.) I wish I would've ordered the lemon sorbet and 2.) I wish we found it earlier in the week so we could've gone again!! read more

We were visiting some friends in Clearwater and this place was recommended to them so we went for dinner on a Thursday evening. From appetizers to dessert, the food was amazing! I am vegetarian so eating Italian is difficult for me. I ordered the eggplant parmesan and it was delicious. Others at our table had the carbonara and chicken parmesan. Their food is amazing everything on the menu is delicious and the servers are wonderful, but tonight my son I had a dinner date at Amici 's and the service was terrible. It was meh. Overpriced food made with cheap ingredients- someone up the thread said cheap anchovies, and I agree. Also cheap lettuce, cheap chicken, etc. We waited a bit for a table, which was odd since we were the only ones in our entire dining area. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and the chicken parm entree. The chicken parm was fine. The caesar salad was very average. The cream of mushroom soup was lousy- gelatinous even. I had one bite and set my spoon down. Which brings me to my quibble. They didn't take it off the bill. I waited tables for a long time, and would never ask that a item that costs the restaurant a lot of money, like a steak, be taken off the bill just because it wasn't to my taste. But the overhead on that cup of soup was probably about $1.50 at most, and the customer goodwill they would have generated by taking it off the ticket would be (in my opinion) worth a lot more than that. This place seems more concerned with saving a buck than with generating repeat business. read more

We are from up north so I have been reading these reviews to find places to eat while at the beach in Clearwater. My husband wanted Italian. After lots of looking we ended up here. I now realize that four-star reviews don't mean a lot down here this is our third restaurant I had a four star review and this one has been the absolute most disappointing. Very friendly waitress. when we came in and all of the men behind the counter were speaking Italian, so we thought this probably is pretty good. We got the involving which was pretty good. It's really hard to mess it up, but there's was tasty including the marinara. I got bolognese sauce my husband got spaghetti and meatballs. His marinara was the same and was tasty. The meatballs were homemade, not the best I've ever had, but they were at least soft and moist. However my Bolognese sauce was almost inedible, even smelled bad when she put the plate in front of me. There was a tomato sauce with a little bit of meat in it and of course Bolognese is a meat sauce. More meat than sauce.They only have one selection of house wine so we ordered Cabernet. It was really not good, but they have no other options for Cabernet. I'm no wine person I just drink every day wine from a local store, and I usually buy California wine if it's on sale. This was really not good. I don't understand how Italian people can make such poor Italian food. They also gave us focaccia, which tasted like a white soft dinner roll. My husband is a bread baker, this was NOT focaccia, it was just a soft dinner roll. I wrote this to try to save other out-of-towners from wasting your time and money here. We have been customers for years and I looked forward to it every visit. Sad to say last Thursday will probably be our last trip in. The service was so unbelievably poor it defied imagination. Sat with empty glasses for almost the entirety of the meal. Bread arrived burnt. The timing of the food from the kitchen was terrible. You shouldn't wait that long for food, service, or anything and then have food come out in intervals. The desserts are usually wonderful as well. However, on this visit we received a visibly burnt cannoli. It tasted horrible- not only burnt, but like it was cooked in very old oil. There were 5 of us and we ordered appetizers, main courses and desserts. Our waiter refused to replace the cannoli, stating that it was perfectly fine. Once is awhile, it's nice to dine in a restaurant with cloth tablecloths and napkins, and that is the case at Amici's. From the outside, Amici's can be very deceiving because it is located in a rundown strip mall. Don't be turned off by the outside, you will be pleasantly surprised when you walk through their doors and are greeted warmly, and see a vibrant, yet rustic looking decor. The delicious aroma permeating the restaurant is fabulous too. Okay, no surprise here, I ordered Eggplant Parm with spaghetti. It was very, very good, and the sauce/gravy and the pasta, very pleasant. The table bread was crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. It was very good and really did not require any oil or butter. An old friend of mine once said, if the bread is good, it needs nothing! Such was the case with Amici's bread during my visit. The house salad was just fine. My girlfriend had lasagne and it was also very good, but it was layered differently than from what we are used to. Her husband had Scallops and Linguini in a nicely flavored olive oil mix, and he said it tasted great. My husband had Veal Marsala and also said it tasted great. We were stuffed by the end of our meal but opted to split a Tiramisu. Wow! It was worth it! Nice and light and creamy! I make a fairly mean Tiramisu and this one was right on par! Amici's is good for a romantic dinner for two or an intimate dinner party. On this Saturday night it was all adults, and mostly couples of all ages. That was nice too! Read about this place on Yelp and being in the mood for some great Italian food away from the tourist crowds, we decided to take a ride and try it out. Amici's did not disappoint. To start, our server, Linda, brought out fresh bread and a dipping oil with crushed red pepper and fresh garlic....followed by their house salad and super secret recipe dressing that was delicious. I had the Margherita Chicken over a bed of sautéed spinach that was divine! My friend had the Broccoli, Olive Oil and Garlic over fresh homemade pasta. When we both stop talking and just eat, you know it's fantastic food! Even though we were happily full, Lin twisted our arms and we had dessert. I had the Lemon Sorbet served in a REAL LEMON! My friend had the homemade Tiramisu (I snuck a bite - OMG!). We both ended our meals with cups of the smoothest coffee ever. AUTHENTIC Italian! We have had fabulous meals here as good as any made in my greatgrandmother's kitchen. Cannot recommend the food highly enough. The eggplant rollatini, as an appetizer, is out of this world. The wines are very good as are the desserts. The service is excellent as well. The only detraction is the dated atmosphere but this is so low on the priority list for me as food and wine are much more important. I mention it only because it matters to some people. It was my first time at Amici's, and was a bit disappointed after reading the reviews. I had ordered the Veal Marsala with mushrooms, and the sauce was thick and bland. It came with soup or salad, and bread which was fresh and hot. The soup was cream of mushroom, and just like the veal sauce, it had too much thickener. The dipping sauce was bland with only olive oil, and very few spices; very disappointing. The entree came with pasta, and I'm surprised that the waiter did not come over to offer fresh pepper and grated Parmesan as this is the norm at the Italian restaurants I've frequented. I don't fault the waiter as he was working many tables and it seemed like they were understaffed this Saturday evening. I had ordered the calimary as an appetizer, and the portion was extremely small. The prices were average considering the quality of the meal you were getting. Everything had tasted bland, and nothing stood out as a winner. The owners are from the east coast so I has expected a much better meal, and service. When I made my reservation, and when I arrived, I stated that this was my first time at their restaurant. It would have been a nice gesture if the owner could have welcomed us or checked if we enjoyed our food; however they were nowhere in sight during the entire meal, and when we were leaving.
