I had a Mass Air Flow error on my 2019 Chevy Cruze. Also had a TPMS (tire pressure monitoring…read moresystem) that needed to be replaced. All done in a day and the price was not hateful -- 400 bucks for both including labor. Today the check engine light came on again, related to the MAF. Another MAF related error came up. I happened to read about the air filter before I drove down and mentioned it to Schaeffer. After checking, discovered the filter had warped causing part of the issue. Schaeffer replaced it for free! Always fair and customer driven. Cheers!

I requested a quote to replace the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor on my 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport…read more The shop quoted $388.65 for the OEM sensor, $80 labor, plus $199 for "reprogramming the module," for a total of $744.15. As someone who works on cars myself, I know that a MAF sensor is plug-and-play on this vehicle and does not require any programming. The "reprogramming" they quoted usually just means driving the car around to recalibrate the computer, which takes minutes, yet they charged $200 for it. When I spoke on the phone with a representative who gave the name "Trevor," he said the reprogramming might not even be needed, but they wouldn't know until after doing the work. To me, this interaction felt untrustworthy. He also used jargon unnecessarily to make it sound more complicated than it is, something any reputable mechanic shop should avoid. The labor to replace the sensor is typically 5-10 minutes, and the part can be purchased OEM (Nissan factory) for ~$230-$250. My advice: get a second opinion or buy the part yourself to save hundreds of dollars.

There was a distinct shaking of the engine when at idle, the ABS light was on, and various other things needed to be inspected. I also had Chris install spark plugs that I purchased. Upon inspection, Chris quickly identified that the motor mounts were bad, the valve cover gasket was leaking, one of the spark plug coils was bad, and the rear ABS sensor was completely busted! Chris was able to diagnose and complete all repairs in less than 24hrs! I also expressed my concern of staying within a specific budget on the repair, which Chris was able to help me with. This is my 3rd time having Chris take care of my vehicles. I completely trust his opinion and expertise and won't take my vehicles anywhere else when I need a repair or even just some advice. Also brought my 2003 325iT for starting issues and troubleshooting, although defect could not be duplicated, I am confident that Scott and his techs gave the car a good look over as well and am confident that if the car needed something else, it would have been disclosed it so it can be addressed. I was driving from Florida to California in my 2016 car and I wanted an oil change. I called and made an appointment. The woman on the phone was FRIENDLY. We scheduled a day and time, because I had to wait for it since I'm on a trip. She quoted me a price for the oil change and it was reasonable. I got there on TIME and they were ready for me. The tech took my car and changed the oil while he checked it over. When it was done, the service writer told me that things looked good and I didn't need the air filter changed, the brakes were ok, etc. That was HONEST, no pushy upsell. We drove in from Jacksonville to look at it. * My daughter was in an accident last week which resulted in her vehicle being a total loss. She told me she wanted a white car with dark interior. For the last week we test drove 4 different vehicles types at various dealerships that she has always wanted in the past but could never get. When she was married she really didn't have a choice on what type of vehicle she had but now she does have a choice. The other 4 vehicles she drove she ended up not liking. At one dealership the sales consultant made her feel "stupid" and talked down to her so we left. Today at Hyundai of St Augustine Dylan was with another couple so he asked Jacob Gray (sales consultant) to help us. He was phenomenal with our purchase experience! He was so patient, helpful and super friendly. We've had two Honda CR-V since 2020 and loved each one. My wife had told our daughter all the safety features you are looking for are in the CR-V. For some reason she didn't want to look at it but when she saw this one at Hyundai of St Augustine and test drove she feel in love it! I have to say this was the easiest and best purchase experience we've had purchasing a vehicle in a very long time! All the sales consultants were very friendly. The office staff were friendly and seem to work well with all sales consultants. The finance manager where we signed all the paperwork was also very friendly and helpful. We arrived at the dealership at 3:30pm. Test drove the vehicle. Made the decision. Signed paperwork. They put gas in the car and we were leaving at 6pm. My daughter and grandson were so happy with their new car. Makes me happy to see them in a newer safer vehicle than they had before! So if you are ever in the market for a new or used car (Hyundai or other) I definitely recommend you come and see Hyundai of St Augustine and definitely talk with Jacob Gray!!!! He will treat you like family! Jacob even called several days later to check in on us to see if we had questions or concerns... Thank you Jacob Gray and Dylan Hart for a job well done!!!
