Updating my previous review... Armando and his crew completely redid the work on the cabinets and frame, including stripping all of the original paint, sanding, priming, 2 coats, plus detail touch-ups. Apparently the wood used by the builder is less than optimal and was rejecting the paint, so Armando used a higher-grade primer this time and allowed more time for each coat to dry. Hoping this will solve the problem. The cabinets look great, and we were really impressed that Armando stands by his work to the extent he did. Based on the time and dilligence Armando and crew put into making good on the original job, we plan to use AMG for future painting jobs. read more

We started our 1978 home update in August 2014. The home still had all original interiors with zero updates to the home with the one exception of the flooring. We already planned to update the kitchen early 2015 and this was excluded from the interior updating as well when we went for bids. We were referred to AMG due to the scope of our project to update all the interior walls, interior doors, trim, baseboards, ceiling popcorn removal, and painting existing bathroom cabinets. Armando was not the highest bid and he was not the lowest bid, but I had seen his work and we liked him. (You cannot have someone working in your home for 3-4 week that you do not like IMO) First let me say, Armando was extremely personable and has EXCELLENT taste and we relied on his recommendations for the trim style, new baseboards, paint colors and textures. Secondly, this project was BIG and we did not know what to expect as this type of interior overhaul is not usually done in one project while people are living in the home, but we insisted. From the beginning Armando was very clear with us about how the project would progress and when the scope began to creep he would advise right away. With an older home and no updates, the scope crept some and we went over time, but not far from what Armando had prepped us to deal with . We absolutely LOVE the update and would not have chosen some of the looks that Armando chose for us and could not be happier! The details he manages are professional grade and I still look around to all the nooks and crannies and am amazed at how fantastic of a job he and his team did. I still smile when I look at the gorgeous baseboards and trim work ;0) Move forward to May 2015. We installed our new kitchen cabinets and counters and I called Armando to come by and take a look and bid us for paint and back splash installation. We honestly felt a huge sense of relief knowing Armando would be managing the final details of this major home improvement for us. His tile installer was fast and meticulous and Armando came through for us once again as we knew he would. Is there a negative rating??? Or is everyone on crack on this site? I can honestly say that you usually get what you pay for and looking at all the reviews led me to ask Armando to come and give us a quote. I wasn't expecting the lowest quote but when I received the quote for $4700 to paint some cabinets in our house I was appalled, the quote was 3 times the price of every other quote I received. Of that he quoted $2700 for materials.... REALLY ! I have the materials to paint the cabinets, and it is two gallons of Sherwin Williams paint that cost me a total of $60. I also have stripper if need and extra $30, sand paper $20 and de-glosser if needed $20.... a far cry from $2700 material cost, I guess I didn't anticipate the cabinets would be painted with gold filagre! Im actually embarrassed to read these reviews, if Armando didn't want to do the job he should have just told me rather than waste both our time additionally reviews said he was a man of honor.... I beg to differ, in my career if I tell someone I will do something then I do it. He told me he would have a quote to me the next morning which I thought was reasonable, after waiting till the following evening to follow up with him I finally received my ridiculous quote two evenings later....Life must be good quoting all the suckers out there.. If your looking for a reasonable quote for a reasonable job, my experience tells me don't go there with Armando. I honestly cant even speak to his work but if people are willing to "buy in" go for it but I say BEWARE! read more

AMG painted our interior trim. Another painter started the job, but I was unhappy with the attention to detail and quality of the work. Armando came in and confirmed that the previous work was poor and assured me of his team's quality. They were able to begin quickly, and I was amazed at the attention to detail. For only slightly more than the previous painter, they were able to go above and beyond. The previous painter assured me "You paid for a repaint, that doesn't include [x, y, and z]. You're not being reasonable." But Armando's brother and his team removed every nail, sanded every bump, avoided any messes, and left us with a job we're thrilled with. AMG Painting and Armando have redefined the "customer experience" This is the best service experience I have had in my life. This attention to detail is so refreshing and rare in this time. The entire crew is polite, meticulous, and attention to detail is beyond 5 stars. Their prep work, taping and putting plastic over all your items, clean up , and quality of painting puts them in a league of their own. I felt like each of them take personal pride in their work and craft, and work as if they are doing this work for their own house. We used AMG Painting to resurface all the popcorn ceilings and repaint the entire interior of a 3200 square foot house just after we bought it. It was well worth the money to have all that work done before we moved in. Removing popcorn from a whole house is a TON of work -- you have to get all the ceilings wet, then scrape the goop off, then let it dry, then float and texture the whole ceiling again. It took four guys several long days to get it all done, and it's a huge mess -- they came in and covered every inch of floor with plastic sheeting, taped it all down to the floor/baseboards, etc. Can't imagine doing all this once furniture is in. As far as painting is concerned, we were really, really happy with the results. We had nearly every interior surface painted -- walls, doors, ceilings, door casings, window casings, baseboards, stair railings, etc. They went through and repaired every little ding they could find in all the walls, trim, etc, before painting. The painting itself was very professional -- sharp lines everywhere, no drips, etc. They got all of this done (including the popcorn removal) in about six days, and everything looked brand new and flawless when they were finished. They showed up early, stayed late, and did a lot of little extras that weren't explicitly specified in the original estimate. They're consummate professionals, and we were genuinely amazed with the results. read more

I will admit I was skeptical about removing the popcorn ceiling at my new house. How much better could it really look? They quoted us a reasonable price without a contract and then denied they ever bid that price- they demanded an extremely unaffordable cost for an extremely small job! I'm so shocked at the post by Sarah T and I wanted to take a minute to write an unbiased, unrelated, opposing review for everyone to read. Armando Guerrera of AMG painting is one of the most honest, meticulous, trustworthy business owners I know. He has worked in my home, as well as dozen of my clients, family, friends, relatives and beyond. He's jumped up at absurd hours to resolve urgent issues for my clients without batting an eye. He has handled MAJOR unexpected repairs that came up right before a closing (in TIGHT time crunches). He is truly the epitome of reliability in my experience with him and his team. MY experience with AMG has shown me that they value the big picture: repeat business, executing quality workmanship, and building trust with their clients. I can't even imagine what would've made that reviewer feel that Armando behaved like a "con-artist." The ONLY thing I can think is that they got into the job and the issue being resolved turned out to be more extensive than they could've anticipated (plumbing issue or something like that). Or that the price was just more than they wanted to pay. Or maybe.. that some people just have really unrealistic visions of things these days. They want it all, for nothing. I have referred AMG for $60,000.00 jobs and $100 jobs. There's not one client I would hesitate to connect AMG to! THAT SPEAKS MILES. Stamping my name on someone effects my profession reputation as well. I am beyond willing to associate myself with Armando and his team. They deliver perfection. If you're looking for the *cheapest* bid, he is not your guy. They are of a higher caliber. For example: I'd trust them to handle the White House! But, on the flip side, I have trusted them to do a quick sheetrock repair in a family members' homes. They do not "overcharge" for their service, but they provide a high quality product so if you're looking for mediocre, I'd recommend getting some other referrals. I'm sad that someone chomped at AMG. I have all positive things to say about AMG Painting. They were recommended to me by a friend and I was very happy with this company. Armando was very courteous and friendly and his crews did a great job. They were able to get my jobs done in a very timely manner. I had a large room, closet, bathroom and laundry room painted. They also refinished our front door and patched up a large section of drywall where there had been a door in one room. The guys who came out to do the work were friendly and hardworking. They spent a lot of time prepping and laying down plastic to protect the carpet and surrounding areas. The finished work looked amazing. Armando and his crew are fantastic. He is very conscientious owner and this trickles down to all of his workers. His lead painter as well as all the younger guys were courteous and very detail oriented. They did a great job stripping the old finish from the hand rails and matching the color to existing wood floors. I also had them paint along the baseboards. Very positive working with AMG Painting. We originally had the entire exterior of our house painted by AMG. The quality of their work from start to finish was so exceptional that we called them again to do the entire interior. Again, we could not be happier. Armando delivered what he promised on time, and at the price he quoted. The people on the various crews were invariably competent, thorough, and provided far more value than we had expected. When the jobs were completed, there was no signe they had been there except for the vastly improved appearance. We recently underwent a complete re-painting of our upstairs and used AMG Painting for the job. Our experience with AMG was fantastic. Armando did a great job of assisting me with my many questions, scheduling the work, managing the timely completion of everything promised and graciously assisted with additional needs as they popped up. We didn't have to have any nickel-and-dime conversations along the way, which was a breath of fresh air after working with other home improvement companies in the area recently. I felt very comfortable that the crew in my house throughout the day was trustworthy and hard-working. Absolutely amazing! This is my third time using AMG Painting (Armando (512) 619-9907) and they have once again blown me away. This time I had them do a wainscoting chalkboard with a white chair rail and super light purple on top in the bedroom followed by the closet and bathroom. First off, the paint lines are impeccable, which is one of the things that I have found other painters cannot do, secondly, they are meticulous. I mean absolutely meticulous! They paper the whole area they are working on, but they also followup with cleaning the floors and leave it completely how they found it (in my house, probably cleaner)! They finished this job in just under 2 days, which is fast considering they needed several coats of the chalk board paint. I am so happy to have found AMG and so happy to have my go to paint guys! Armando couldn't be easier to work with and has a great group of guys! Did I mention we had a napping baby both days they were there working and they were so quiet we didn't miss any nap time either! AMAZING! Wish I could give them 6 stars! read more
