We had gone through a lot with my dad before he passed away and so we knew what we wanted and what we didn't. Unfortunately, the informal network we used for my dad didn't have women caregivers so we were back to to square one. After doing a lot of research with the local senior center and online we called For Papa's Sake, which is based out of the town next to where my mom lives. From the very first phone call I suspected we had gotten lucky. After a couple of calls and some group discussion between me, my mom and a For Papa's Sake senior person we decided we'd try them out. And am I glad we did. They listened to my mom's and my requests, likes, dislikes, deal-breakers etc. and they never batted an eye. They did say it might take a bit longer than usual (given our needs) to find the right care giver, but they called back in less than 5 days and we had a care giver within 10 days to 2 weeks of that 1st main discussion. That care giver has worked out so well. It has really improved our lives and I can go days without worrying about my mom...what a relief. That's what For Papa's Sake provides: relief! If you are looking for an alternative to a nursing home or aged care facility or whatever you want to call it, For Papa's Sake really cares and I would encourage you to give them a call. They have worked out great for us and I would not recommend them for something so important if they weren't doing a great job.

Very worth it to hire My Solutions, they did a great job organizing the logistics, arranged for a great moving company (Hollander), packed everything up and unpacked it and put it away on the other end. They hauled away a couple of pieces of furniture we didn't need anymore which was much easier than called Got Junk. I highly recommend Gloria and My Solutions for moving your parents or yourselves into independent living, assisted living or memory care. It also helps that she knows all the people at these facilities and they know and trust her services. Thank you Gloria, turned what could have been awful day into an great one.

We hired them to pack and unpack my 93 yr. old mother's house when she moved from a duplex into an apartment. Lori was so sweet & encouraging to my mom, who was completely overwhelmed & sad to have to move. She listened to her stories as they packed up a lifetime of memories & she and her team went above & beyond to make sure everything was meticulously packed & carefully unpacked. Lori kept a sharp eye on the movers to make sure they were being careful. The next day my mom told me that as much as she hated that she had to move, she "enjoyed" the process of moving because of how beautifully it was handled. That's the highest praise she could have given. I can't recommend this company enough!

My surgeon recommended Abcor for home health services for the 1st 10 days after my knee replacement…read morein Feb 2019. Abcor has recently changed their name from Northwest Home Health, which gets them confused with Northwest Community Hospital, also in Arlington Hgts. But several contacts, including my EOB from Blue Cross, still reference Northwest HH, so it's confusing. A real business would get this name change right. Their personnel were OK. I felt the lead Physical Therapist, with a Masters in PT, whom I only saw on the first & last day, was pretty good. The actual therapist who came to my house several times was only OK. He had sparse education in PT - apparently home care is where you get your start in this business. This therapist, after I had been home 5 days and was doing stairs OK, chose to instruct my husband how to go backwards down the stairs in front of me to spot me for a fall. This might have been useful on the first day or two, but was unnecessary after 5 days. It caused some friction as my husband popped up like a jack-in-the-box every time I got near the stairs that day. My husband is 16 years older and has less balance than I, and shouldn't be doing this kind of activity. I was worried that HE was going to tumble down the stairs backward. The nurse who planned on visiting 3 times, was just a paperpusher, trying to fill out a 50 page booklet of useless repetitive info that I could have accomplished on-line before her visit. I cancelled the rest of her visits - there is no reason to pay for this service when I'm a healthy person recovering from ortho surgery. No practical thought was applied from the business at all. They just follow the same guideline for every patient even though we have different needs. Three times I called and left this business messages, and rarely got a response. Once I got a response 10 days later and had to sort out why I had called them. I didn't really get communication about how to discharge from their service, either, which is important for insurance coverage. They also are such a backward business that they only accept mailed checks for their services. The surgeon said he had trained Abcor specifically on how to treat "HIS" patients. I saw little evidence of that. I would look elsewhere for Home Healthcare.

Also, when able to reach a live person such as their so-called, lack luster manager, they give you a great sales pitch saying they "Have lots of available caregivers available at the ready!" But when it comes time to schedule these "Readily available caregivers" they are nowhere to be found!! I also attempted to reach this so-called manager many times and was also told he was out of the office many times! Don't know what he's actually "Managing" other than his time away from actual work!! There are plenty of other home care and caregiver organizations out there, I'd stay away from this one unless you like getting lied to and chasing them down!!

We were assigned Emily as our case manager and she was great to work with. However, we interacted the most with Grace who was on-call at the time we engaged them and helped my Dad a good bit during his last couple of days. Grace was super patient with us when we asked lots of questions about his care and hospice in general. LifeChoice also provided a rabbi for us and I think my father really appreciated that the rabbi visited with him for over an hour. I think they provided my father a lot of peace and comfort during his final days. My only regret was not engaging them sooner. Thank you LifeChoice for all of the help you provided my father and our family.
