Enjoyable site, though seats are a bit close. Always clean. Bathroom is small for number of people, but again kept clean. Seating is fast and enough help to get everyone to their seats. If I recall, no issues with people in front, enough height to see over them, but right next and not easy to get out of seats, without people standing and stepping back. I've lived in the area for 25 years and recently was the first time I had ever been to the Ames Center. We saw a cover band of Queen songs. I'm so glad I was finally able to experience this venue. Parking is easy with free ramp and street parking next door to the theatre. Our seats were right in the middle of the center section. The steepness of the seats was great in that the person in front of you never blocks your view. Drinks were available for purchase and you can bring them to your seat. Staff was super friendly. It felt a little odd to see a 'Queen' concert in a theatre when I felt people should be up dancing and singing but the band did a good job of engaging the audience and the last few songs got the crowd on their feet. Made a trip here last week for Cirque Musica: Holiday Wonderland. Entering the establishment was very organized and it all flowed. The ticketing was very smooth and there was lots of parking. The only complaint was the photobooth that was in the middle of the route to the restrooms this was a huge bottle neck. They had a consession stand with libations. The entry to the theater was nice and a quick check in. One we walked in the seats are a good size and the seating is slanted like opera seating so most seats give a good view. The performers came around and greeted people before the show and interacted with them allowing you to take photos with them while some played tricks and jokes. The whole show was interactive and the acrobats and performers were second to none. This was a spectacular performance and I can't wait to go there again. read more

I'm not so much reviewing the PA center as I am the very awesome open square just outside of it that had all the residents out with their kids, the ladies tanning, the music blaring, people with picnics.... Outside of this center, there is this wonderful-looking creek that doubles as a fountain on hot days, as it was a week ago. Sweltering day, with temps close to 90F, I myself was seeking some shade and a cool place to center..... woopwoop! I love running into things by pure 'dum luk', which is how I happened upon this cool thing. If anyone knows Portland, it so reminded me of an imitation Jamison Square and its fountain... Delightful place to hang... if I had little rugrats, I'd bring 'em here all the time and tire them out so they don't have to create more mess in the house. Hey Burnsville, GOOD JOB!! We saw a Nutcracker at Ames, and every seat in the house is amazing. That means quite a few stairs to the balcony, but you shouldnt have to worry about sitting behind someone tall. The sightlines are great. If you havent been here before you should know the parking is free, but you might end up in a small traffic jam waiting to find a space and the walk is a wee bit longer than you might expect in the burbs. read more

There is a parking lot right next to the building, with free parking. There is a splash fountain outside the front doors. It has very well kept grounds and is quite a nice building, inside and out. Clean without being stark. We saw a small performance of MacBeth. The theater was divided down into a smaller theater for this performance. It was cozy and comfortable. The sound system was very good. The seats were risers so that everyone could see. Even being short, the riser heights were spaced apart enough that there were no problems viewing the performance. I had a grwat time and would definitely enjoy going back. There are concessions available, as well. Very nice without being very fancy. Very modern and welcoming. read more

This venue is so accessible. I love this little section of Burnsville, anyway. Free parking. This won't attract arena events, but it's got some damn good ones. Last night it was Ralphie May: Too Big to Ignore. There's some great dining in the vicinity, such as Mediterranean Cruise Cafe and Jensen's Cafe if you don't want to spend as much. The seats are comfortable, and every seat has a good view, but I prefer the main floor. You are very connected the performer. They have a bar in the lobby, but not sure what they serve besides soda, you can also bring drinks into the theater. I love coming here. read more

I was dreading going out to the burbs to a Performing Arts Center because I thought it would be a total joke...You know how "artsy" suburbia is...... (can you sense the sarcasm in my writing?)....Well, I was impressed!! This review is not for the production we saw, but for the venue itself. We were greeted by the nicest usher ever. He told us when the house would be opening, concessions information, intermission length, etc. upon arriving. The theater seating was such that no seat was a bad seat. We were in the smaller theater but I know there is a larger theater as well. The architecture of this building is beautiful and I am looking forward to seeing more productions this season. read more

We went to see the Australian BeeGee's in September at the Ame's Center. This used to be called the Burnsville Civic Center several years ago, in case Ame's doesn't sound familiar. So it has been here for a long time and I think it is such a great venue. I live in St. Paul and it's convenient to go to downtown for shows and Minneapolis isn't that far either; however, I really like going to the Ame's because it feels like a big time performance center. It is near 35W and right off Hwy 13. Lots of free parking. The seats are comfortable and clean. I have sat in many different areas and it's always a good seat and good view. They have a range of prices available for all performances and it depends on the artist for the prices. We have taken our kids, friends, and family. We also like this venue for date night. The sound has always been very good, sometimes a bit loud but not as loud as when you go to the Xcel and your ears rings for the next two days. The acoustics have always seemed appropriate to the occasion. The staff is friendly and helpful. They do have wine, beer, soda, water for sale in the lobby every time I've been there. They have a few snacks, no "substantial" food. It's as expensive as any other place, as you would expect. There are a couple nearby food options (Jensen's Café and Mediterranean Cruise Café). The shows start are various times, not always the same. There are some shows that play more than once and have a matinee. But normally it is a one night show and tickets are available at the box office or through ticketmaster. I highly recommend, I haven't been to a bad show and feel like I've attended a big deal show without all the extra fuss of going downtown, parking and all of that. read more

Every event I've been to here I've been able to get great seats for a great price. The facility was built within the last few years and the upkeep has been amazing. The layout very much reminds of the Stages Theater in Hopkins. I've never had an issue finding a great parking spot and everyone is gracious and welcoming. read more

Not often I venture outside of Minneapolis or St. Paul for arts/culture events, however I went to the Ames Center tonight for the first time to see The Nutcracker. Wow. Fantastic dancers & costumes, overall an amazing production. Great Job to everyone involved!!! read more

Beautiful theater and not a bad seat in the house. The seats rises perfectly so you can see a full view of the stage. Sound was very clear. Great theater for outside of the Twin Cities. Downside: I live in the Twin Cities, so a show will only be a draw for me to attend. read more

HUGE waste of money!!!! There's a proposed 5% property tax hike where 2.2% will go to keeping this PAC afloat, despite the fact that most of Burnsville does not want it here! Events are D-list local acts who would be perfectly at home in a school gym. It was foretasted to be $400,000 in the red during its first year, but was actually $800,000 in the red!! I do not think this place will ever be profitable. Please pull the plug and stop making me pay for this horrible place! read more

The main theatre has great acoustics and no bad seats. Free parking, easy access from I-35W. Several good restaurants nearby. You can buy tix from box office; they are open weekends as well as weekdays. Check out the art gallery open every day., no charge. Great views from upper lobby. The BPAC is also available to rent.
