He fixed in 15. Minutes . This week, over a month later I get a bill from Countyside for really not doing a thing for $146. Something they ne er said they would charge up front for looking at. When I do need a new water heater I will buy somewhere else !

My wife…read moretold me she thought she smelt gas coming from the hot water heater, I came home today and went down to check for myself and yes there is a gas smell present. I called countryside as they were who I trusted to install the hot water heater. I spoke with some gal and explained to her that we are smelling gas from the hot water tank she said ok put me on hold for 10min.... She comes back to say that they can't send anyone out til Monday I told her that was BS and that it's a gas leak they can send someone now. She then sends me to Mike I then explain to him the same thing and that it's bullshit to have to wait til Monday for a gas leak he then laughs at me and says if I swear again he is going to end the call I ended up getting furious with him said some words and ended the call for him hey Mike what if this was your home with children you gonna wait til Monday POS So I reached out to another company who will be here in 30 minutes not days I do not recommend this company they over charge for everything and there customer service is shit you mean a lot to them until the sale is done not the way you do business Update Xcel came out and for your company's information I have had a gas leak at the water heater control valve for almost a year now thank you for your quality install and putting my family at risk we are now done with this company we don't take playing with our lives lightly They say a faulty part from manufacture or could it have been one to many turns at the time of install and was cracked And coincidentally my wife's business had same issue we tried this business several times and now we're moving on I appreciate the phone call though trying to get me to remove my review but maybe if you guys didn't treat a gas leak as a laughing matter I would been a little easier

Dirks Heating & Cooling

Dirks Heating & Cooling

We had Dirks install a new thermostat on January 15th of 2024. We told the technician that we…read morewanted a 5-day/2-day programmable one and he offered two option: one for about $250 and another (wifi-capable) for $800 and assured us that they were both what we wanted. Not caring if I could check my house's temperature from my phone or not, I opted for the less expensive option (I later found out I could have bought the exact same thermostat at a local hardware store for about $40). After the technician installed it and gave us a basic rundown, I paid him the $450 or so (another $180 for the service call in addition to the price of the themostat, plus tax) and he was on his way. The next day, when I went to program the thermostat I discovered that it had to be programmed one day at a time, instead of the Monday-Friday and Saturday-Sunday I'd requsted (and been promised). I was not at all happy, but it was already installed so I sucked it up and decided to live with it. Fast-forward to May 13th. We wanted to use our central air conditioner for the first time of the season but it wouldn't work so, not being particularly pleased with our service we had received from Dirk's, we contacted Barron Plumbing and Heating to look at it, and we're lucky we did. Being that all his technicians were out on other calls, the owner of the business (Tony Allen) came to our house to look at it himself. He was able to bypass the thermostat and get the air conditioner working so he looked at the thermostat. It had been wired wrong when installed, so that it would work properly in "heat" mode but not in "cool" mode. Since it was almost quiting time, he said he'd send someone the next day to fix it if we didn't mind waiting or, if we didn't want to wait until then, he'd get it taken care of later that day and we told him to just send someone the next day and I also asked if it was okay for me to buy a new thermostat and have his technician install it; he said that would be no problem. So, that evening, I bought a thermostat that had the one feature we actually wanted and it was intalled the next day, by BP&H and worked fine. Total bill from BP&H for 2 service calls and installation: $120. So anyway, we called Dirks and talked to Don Dirks about what happened and he asked us what we thought should be done about it. We told him that he could buy back the thermostat that was sold to us under false pretenses, telling him he could still sell it as gently-used for $100 and still make a more than 200% profit on it. He refused, and the best he would offer was to pay our bill for BP&H to fix his company's mistake. Knowing we wouldn't get any other sort of compensation from him, we agreed to that amd emailed him a copy of the bill to the email address he provided. I told Tony from BP&H that Dirks would be sending him a check and he said that was fine. About a month later I contacted Tony again and asked if Dirks had paid the bill and he said no, so I paid it myself. So, to summarize, because we went with Dirks, we paid about $600 to have a $40 thermostat installed (we still have the one Dirks sold us, on a workbench in my basement), when we could have gotten ahold of BP&H first and paid less than a third of that. Also, what kind of a technician doesn't know how to properly wire a thermostat? It seems to me that should be a VERY simple procedure for someone who does that kind of thing for a living. It kind of makes me wonder if it was perhaps wired wrong intentionally to drum up some more business for the company...

Had them install whole home combination propane boiler back in 2020 for over $10K. Was ok but was…read morenot noticing a reduction in propane use through two winters. Had them come back out when I realized one of my in-floor water loops was circulating when thermostat was off. Tech was out and identified the entire system they put together for me nearly two years prior was all wrong and was causing that loop to circulate hot water. Correction was made and I was not charged. Since all of this I have recommended their service to my family etc... This last weekend I installed a new range in my kitchen and had to add a line to my propane 'manifold'. All went well until I did a leak detection on the high pressure side of my propane supply. Turns out I have had a propane leak in my basement for possibly up to 3 years! Since this was on the high pressure side and would have to turn off my main supply I called Dirks to come take a look and deal with it. Told me up front the service call would be $140. Ok, they came out and diagnosed exactly where I told them a leak was and confirmed it would have been them that made that connection. The flare fitting was misaligned and apparently never checked for a leak. Service tech shut off supply re-aligned fitting and sealed it up properly. Still got a $300 bill from their mistake. And of course now they require payment on the spot because I am sure they have had to deal w/ other quality issues. They are not a horrible business but with all the issues and headaches I have had to deal with because of them I am done and will not pay them a dime more for anything.
