Justin and his team were requested to do a home inspection based on a real estate agents request…read more After the inspection the home owner returned to the home and noticed that their sliding glass door latch was in the locked position but the latch looked like it was farther down from the locked position. When they attempted to unlatch the door the latch came right off. The home owner and selling agent both attempted to contact Justin and each received a reply that the door was not broken during the home inspection and refused to pay for the door to be fixed. The door was in fact broken as due to the inspection but paid for by JJ Home Services, LLC.

So the fiance and I woke up one morning and decided to be adults - we had a baby, got engaged, and…read morebought a house. Whatevs, no big deal... except it was, I guess. But apparently, you can't just wake up and have all of this overnight... I guess one of the important things to home buying is a having (and passing) a home inspection. Yeah, we definitely felt like adults as we pretended to be on HGTV's House Hunters. But we felt like kids, and somewhat of idiots, when it came to understanding how a house worked. It was like a present with gorgeous wrapping, "ooooh" and "ahhhh" but then we didn't understand how to use the actual toy, "do we really need a back-flow protector thing-a-majig?" and "so you're telling me the structure is what?!?" (Cue in Dave from Harmony Home Inspections) This is where Dave works his magic and helps you figure out if the house is will be a money-pit or if it will be all roses and green grass. We used Dave on TWO home inspections. He did such a mah-velous job on the first one that we didn't hesitate to contact him for the second. He's almost like the last step in figuring out if the boyfriend/girlfriend.. err, house, is really... "the one," but he uses really cool gadgets to determine it! He spent his time everywhere in the home and even addressed our questions as we went along. He took pictures of all the spaces, including those where we pointed and said, "oh, is that... the M word? Mold?!" (Thankfully, it was not.) He walks around, crawls, kneels, shines a light, has a thermal thingy thing, and basically covers EVERYTHING in a home while making you feel comfortable that you are getting a really good inspection. My favorite part about Dave is his response to all your questions, "that's a really good question! (Insert answer here)" He sure made us feel competent, which in turn, made us confident that we were making a wise decision on this home. I have recommended Dave to others and hope that more realtors start to use Dave as well! I'd have to say, Dave is probably one of the most-enjoyed professional service man I have met and worked with. And that's important, since we're adults now and we have to make adult relationships. No more hanging out and gettin' crazy with those young cats at the Bootleggers...

I am on the seller's side of the inspection. The buyer's inspection was scheduled for Wednesday,…read moreMay 4th. I came home that afternoon to a radon test in my basement with no indication as to how long the test would be in my home, just a note stating that the windows would need to remain closed and the a/c couldn't be turned on. And that if I touched it I would be charged $155 (which they could tell from sensors on the test apparently) and the test would be delayed. I asked my realtor to find out how long the test would take and was told it would be picked up on Friday, May 6th. At that point it was not a concern at all. I came home after work on Friday only to find that the detector had not yet been picked up. Friday was an extremely hot day and I was unable to find any relief to the heat (nor were my children or my cat). Saturday I contacted my realtor and after it took quite a while for anyone to track down the inspector, was told that it would be picked up on Sunday. An appointment was made for Sunday afternoon between 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm. By 7:00 pm he still had not shown up and my house was 80 degrees. Since it was Mother's Day, I did not want to disturb my realtor so I called the number that was left on the inspector's business card and the voicemail did not even belong to the inspector but to someone else. I'm guessing it was an office general box, but the business card is not set up to be read that way. By that point I was livid. Not only was I unable to open my windows, it was already 2 days after when the inspection results were due from the buyer. I called my realtor and the buyer's realtor ended up contacting him and I received approval to open my windows. The detector was finally picked up on Monday, May 9th. I was so disgusted by the lack of professionalism on the part of the inspector. He had zero respect for the inconvenience he placed upon my family. Not to mention the extreme lack of customer service shown to his client, the buyer. It seems to me that he just simply didn't care enough and didn't get around to picking it up on Friday, went away for the weekend (it was also the fishing opener weekend) and then decided to spend Mother's Day with either his own mother or his wife with no regard to the discomfort we were being left with. Although I am on the other side and wasn't the one hiring this inspection company, I would say don't waste your time with them.

Upon recommendation from my realtor I hired Rich Berg to perform the pre-buy inspection on a house…read moreI was purchasing. All seemed to go well. Shortly after moving into the home I became aware of a problem that was to cost my $1000.00 to repair. As I thought that this situation should have been covered in the inspection I contacted Rich Berg by phone. The problem with the house became the least of concerns at that moment. Rich met my inquiry with a hostile defensiveness that nearly knocked me off my feet! I was dumb founded by the abrupt, controlling and rude response I got from Rich Berg. He talked "at me", loud and pushy, not allowing me the space to discuss the concern. More concerning than the actual issue with the house was Rich Bergs response to an inquiry concerning the inspection. He was strongly defensive from the start and only got worse as I tried to converse with him. Given Rich Bergs lack of professional follow thru and concern for his clients after he has taken their money I could NEVER recommend him or his services to another person. As an add on, shortly after moving into the home my spouse and myself were testing the hard wire smoke/fire detectors. We were horrified to find that the one on the upper floor was not even connected. The detectors were mentioned in the report....but certainly no mention of them not being connected.....obviously they were not tested during the inspection.
